Cool.
Fun to drive, awesome engine, smooth transmission.
Good economy, blends in enough to not scream "look at me," and a blue paint that's amazing.

Civics used to have double-wishbone up front, which was Awesome. Now its just your average McPherson strut front end, just like every other car out there. Lame.

That's a bit different. The engine in question isn't turbo, and is in a Civic.

The 900hp engine is in a renowned formula racer.

Wait, has anyone nominated the 97T yet?

It's not different, it's still an engine.
Okay then.

Those two engines aren't any different? If you know anything at all about engines, you'll know they're very different.

But, since I was proven wrong by the God-car of formula, let me retract my statement and replace it with this one:

Weak, naturally-aspirated, small engines are uncool.

Weak? I wouldn't consider ~200hp weak. And don't you dare call the S20 inline 6 of the Hakosuka 'weak' or uncool. Just listen.

2 litre, same as the Civic. A smaller output (160bhp AFAIK), so not as powerful as the Civic (not that it needs more power). Naturally aspirated. This car couldn't have anything else with that sound.

Only reason the coupe isn't a high cool now is fwd and vtec (resisting the urge to make a very bad vtec joke).

So now VVTi is uncool? Oh, lets just throw in the VANOS system from the BMW in there too?

I don't know how many times this has to be explained on this forum, people don't give too craps if it has a big engine or not. I have never overheard someone going "Ooooh, nice c- oh, wait, that only has a two litre right? LAME!"

And big engines are uncool because the big engine fanboys play it up. That way everything is uncool
Unless you're a fanboy of the said type. Then it's cool to you.

Not a fan of small NA and weak engines, so they're not cool to me. Simple as that. Also not a fan of Civics or family haulers.

You aren't going to like any cars in the future I'm sorry to tell you. Now days, people don't need five litre engines in anything. It's called technology. Why dump in a five litre V8 when you can get a two litre turbocharged engine in there, that's faster and more fuel efficient?

The future is coming. Embrace it.

Vtec is uncool because of the Honda fanboys who play it up.
When has this even happened? I have not once in my life heard someone use that sentence, or Vtec used in that manner. Everyone but the actual Honda crowd are the only ones that have said that.

When ricers hit the streets claming their holy vtec could smoke insert car here.

Here's an idea; why not just not swap engines? Use what you have and make it into something great...not that I would ever do that either. I only see cars in their original forms, not for how they can be ruined modified.

Anyway. This Civic is American only and frankly dull. Uncool.

Like I said, never heard anyone say that. I hear that more about big ass engines though. "OMG my engine is 6.0 litre's, your's is the size of a soda! You cant beat me!"

Judging by your examples, It seems fairly easy to guess that you havent either, and that your just running off stereotypes.

Family cars and A-to-B transportation are not about burnouts. Shocking, I know.

I'm not exactly sure about the car scene back where you are but exactly how many times did you encounter what you've just described? Or are you simply stating out of the holy internet corner of poo ping-pong between "V8 vs vtec" crowds?

And there's your problem. You get people in Cummins trucks who 'roll coal' on random people in Miatas for no reason. You get middle aged sports car drivers who race away from traffic lights as though they feel they need to justify their purchase. You get Euro fans who think making their car so low that its undrivable is the peak of automotive modification. The point is that there is always people out there who taint a certain vehicle's image, but that shouldn't be too much of a factor in whether the car is viewed as cool or not.

Likewise, just because a car has a small engine or a relatively conservative, consumer-orientated body style, it shouldn't be lumped as being some ungainly, characterless heap. A 2.0 litre 4-banger is easily enough in this application, and it wasn't hellbent on being a straight line monster anyway. It was more designed to be a fun, sprightly version of the run-of-the-mill Civic. Take from that what you will, but don't just assume it wouldn't be deemed cool because of the number of cylinders.

I voted cool because I saw the one in the OP but didn't realise it was a Mugen edition, I would've voted meh if there was a normal one in the OP. The reason I think this is meh is because even though it's probably fun to drive, it looks very boring. One thing I hate about the cool wall is some people base their vote on displacement, drivetrain and the fact it's a Civic.

One of the hardest decisions for me so far on the Cool Wall. Its styling ranges from hideous (the Mugen version in the OP), to beige (the sedan version), to "I guess that's not too bad" (the coupe). So we're at uncool.

But then the W&N/Dagger crowd comes in with their usual "moar cubic inches!" nonsense, which makes me like this car more. So we're at cool.

But then I remember how this was the pinnacle of the eighth-generation Civic here in the states, which means we never got this glorious engine matched with a proper suspension, a la the Type R available elsewhere*, and I get sad. Back to uncool.

But then, speaking of that engine... Oh my, what an engine it is. 8,000 rpm of buttery-smooth Honda reliability. The thought of an empty back road, rowing a six-speed, with the K20 attached to my right foot, is just heavenly. Back to cool.

Too much of what I like about this car is the stuff that 99% of people won't notice, and of the 1% that do, 99% of them won't give a crap. Almost everyone will just think you're driving a plain old Civic, a car that's about as vanilla and boring as they come. Uncool.

*Yes, I know it's not quite the same engine as the Type R. They're both variants of the K20 though, so close enough
