I'm not exactly sure about the car scene back where you are but exactly how many times did you encounter what you've just described? Or are you simply stating out of the holy internet corner of poo ping-pong between "V8 vs vtec" crowds?
Ricers are bad here. I was talking with a guy who claimed his non-evo lancer could beat the new m4 in a drag race. Um, not happening.

Another one who claimed his civic could run sub 10-second 1/4s.

I actually don't get in the vtec v8 thing. I stay out of it because they give me bad headaches. Try arguing with a "Street racer". Like talking to a brick wall...

Try arguing with a muscle car enthusiast. Like talking to a brick wall...
We're not arguing about muscle cars, we're arguing about whether a civic is cool. But since you want to play that way

Let's take a test.
Show this car to five people. Guarantee you most aren't gonna go "That's Cool."

Show them a mustang.

We're not arguing about muscle cars, we're arguing about cringey enthusiasts, since you brought 'ricers' into the picture.

And a muscle car is relevant how...?

Show them a mustang.
And that'll prove nothing that has to do with anything that you are saying about Vtec. The funny thing is that you say you stay away from that sort of debate, but your doing the exact opposite, and coming off as the typical muscle-head ass.

Reminds me of a guy that I used to work with that claimed his V6 Mustang was faster, and that my Si was slower because it was a smaller engine. He had put his own SVT emblems on it, but who was he fooling? Needless to say, he was put in his place everytime.

Everything that guy did, is exactly what you claim these Honda guys are doing.

And there's just as many guys running around making outlandish claims about their LS1 Camaros, or Mustang Cobras, or <insert any other car that has even a modicum of enthusiast following>. Fanboys of makes/models you don't like seem much more annoying because you disagree with them. In reality, all "crowds" that support a certain car are more or less equally annoying.

Once you realize that, the sensible thing would be to not use it as a standard of coolness at all.

Not cool there were some cool Civic Si in America the '99/'00 Si coupe comes to mind. This version is uncool because it seems the styling is trying to hard and its not a light compact car anymore model bloat hit the Civic hard.

There's a hitch to that though. Show them a V6 Mustang, they would most likely go 'that's cool', because it looks aggressive and has big bulges and stuff.

Show them a Boss 302/GT500 Mustang, they would most likely go 'that's cool', because it looks aggressive and has big bulges and stuff. Oh, and stripes.

Show them a Civic Si coupe, they would most likely go 'that's cool', because it looks sporty and has big wheels.

The general consensus doesn't really care for cars at all. Coolness by most people is just seen as being visually appealing in one form, without taking every other factor of the car into consideration.

Someone stuck an svt badge on his base model v6?
I don't like the v6 muscle car hooning group either. They're just as bad as the "Vtec rules" group.

Thats what I said on the last page, the part about "I don't care for civics or small engines, so they're not cool to me"? Everything here is an opinion. My opinion is this car sucks because 90% of the people who own them "trick them out" and brag about them. I don't like the v6 muscle group for the same reason. They get their v6 Camaro lowered, painted matte, throw some flashy rims on, and brag about it.

The general consensus won't say the Civic is cool, they'll say they like it. Because the general consensus cares about efficiency, something the Civic is very good at. No one I know would ever call a civic cool, because it's not a cool car. It's a people hauler. Like a Camry, Corrola, my Dads rogue, and Moms quest. They're not cool, dad doesn't call his Rogue cool, but he likes it. Because it's good on gas, and it hauls us to the store to buy bread, milk, and Better Homes and Gardens (song reference by the way).

Anyway, I'll probably be back later, but dad just got home, we're riding out in about an hour to pick a friend up, and my thumbs need a break

Wow this thread went 0 to full blown stupid pretty quick. I thought people complaining about FWD was dumb enough but then it was brought up that the Civic needs a 5.0? Also, every time someone brings up ricers and Civics, I assume you're trapped in 2003. Is ricing Civic's even a thing anymore because I don't think it is?

Anyway, the Civic. I'll give it a low cool. It's funky and appeals to young people. Plus it's somewhat sporty and not really offensive in anyway. It's a little nerdy though, but not nerdy in the way that it's all about the fat kid who watches to much Star Trek, more young IT professional kind of nerdy. Really it's probably more of a meh, but that's a cop out.

Seriously uncool.

I voted SU because of the FWD and Vtec. And the fact that it rolls off the lot looking very ricer'd.

The stock ones, although they don't look like a rice car, they're still bland, just like all other civics. Still seriously uncool.

It's not only the fact that it's Vtec and fwd. No matter what they do to it, it will still be a civic, and civics are not cool.

I'd give them a combined rating of uncool. But since the sedan was the one I saw first (and voted on)...

Only reason the coupe isn't a high cool now is fwd and vtec (resisting the urge to make a very bad vtec joke).

Vtec is uncool because of the Honda fanboys who play it up.

What? Can you repeat that again, please? No one here is quite sure what you said.

How about don't.

All the dumb things I've read from you in the last 6 hours you've posted is 10x worse than the first hour. You are completely unable to recognize your entire argument could be turned against your beloved muscle cars.
You say, "LOL ricers" towards Honda fanboys. I say, "LOL rednecks" towards uninformed muscle car fanboys like you living in the past.

I understand that. I was merely suggesting that you find better reasoning on which to base your opinion. "This car sucks because of the people who own them" is weak reasoning, considering that any car is going to have a group of annoying fanboys around it.

As it happens, you've actually illustrated my point quite well. Three times in your post, you made sure to specify that you dislike V6 muscle cars, presumably because you adore V8 muscle cars. To you, you're right, and fans of other cars "suck," or they're "ricers," or blah blah blah.

In reality, the "VTEC yo!" guy is no more or less annoying than you droning on about 5.0 Mustangs. This Civic should no more be judged by the "ricer" crowd it attracts than the Mustang should be judged by the narrow-minded cretins that it tends to attract.

For a second I read the title and thought to myself, "Maybe I'll give it a chance".

For a second.

Seriously Uncool, and I shouldn't have to explain why.

Okkay, I know I said it'd be an hour or so, but I got bored waiting to leave :P. Also not going to correct typos until later, my fingers are too shaky to waste the time.

Ohhh, I see. You're suggesting I try rationality over bias? :P. Okay, disregarding everything about this car, except the car itself. Not counting anything but it.

Sedan: A small people carrier. Nothing more or less.

Coupe: a slightly sportier car that carries less people.

So then, taking nothing else in, not even any discrepancies, it would get a meh.

Now, it looks dull, uninteresting, hell, I'd have trouble telling it apart from other civics without the badge and wing (those wings are all over base model Civics down here, by the way).

But isn't that how all family cars are supposed to be?

So now, after thinking about it, I'll have to apologize, because in my haste, I failed to recognize that this car isn't trying to be a sports car, just a sportier family car. It gets a high meh. Final answer, lock it in Alex. Unfortunately, I can't change my vote though, so...

Ricers aside, stoplight racers aside... High meh. It's an economic option for the father or mother who wants to have a peppy little car to take their kids to places.

Edit: My show ignored content light popped on... Don't click it...

Not at all. Just that you recognize that your opinion is rendered completely irrelevant by the sort of bias that you're using. There are plenty of ways to express an opinion without obliviously displaying such a pot-kettle-esque shade of black.

A collection of facts and opinions that all more or less add up to the conclusion you landed on.

I know, it was a joke. 99% of the people here know that if it's not a classic car, or an exotic, I won't like it. Chalk it up to not caring about much other than performance yet.

I think from now on, in the cool wall threads, any car that I don't care for, I'll use a factual rating for, to avoid "SU because I say so" posts. Think that may turn out better?

But three minutes till rollout, bye for now.

Cool. Most owners of this generation of civic are usually nice and well informed. Had this been about the 5th or 6th gen would get an immediate SU because ricer.

Those are pretty much one and the same :P

@Tornado I make it about six times now you've linked to the Enthusia Seville video in this subfourm at some point. :P
He must have noticed that my borderline-relevant references to that game have trailed off over the past couple years, and decided to fill the vacuum. :P
