Well that's pretty much my point, despite a black spot in a models history, manufacturers know that people have a Passion for these older cars... And that's why they revive classic designs/nameplates.

To suggest that the Z8 is a bad idea simply because the 507 was priced out of the market is silly.

Not saying that its a bad idea because the 507 was such a lemon ;) - I just think that an auto manufacturer shouldn't be celebrating a vehicle that brought them to the brink of colapse. When they have such a long history of producing probably the worlds best sporting saloons, a misjudged sports car isn't something they should be proud of, especially since it was hardly ground breaking at the time, with other manufacturers doing the same thing but so much better. Like WW2 era large Mercedes convertables, they're collectors items due to their dubious connections.

The only problem the 507 really had was that it was too expensive, no doubt the tiny sales numbers have helped make it the classic it is today,.. the Z07 concept celebrated a car that became a classic (albeit a poor selling one), and even if they'd simply decided to make a top end roadster - it certainly did it no harm (in my opinion) to style it after the 507. The Z8 was modern interpretation of a classic idea, styled after a beautiful classic design... with an M5 engine :D .. I think it's stunning,.. as you can imagine I voted sub-zero.

I'm a BMW fan (would you have guessed?) and since the car was launched I've seen 3.... one at a dealer, one at a show, and one on the road.. as far as I'm concerned it's almost mythical! :D :D

I was never a fan of the car when it first came out. But years on I think it's aged incredibly well and has matured in to a very desirable car.

Cool.
