Merry Christmas geezers! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday, family and friends.

Well the 3 TT's are over and Possum has done an exceptional job of keeping track and posting the result's. Thank you.

I've been going over the results and swaping driver combonations around to match teams, scratching my head, and wearing out erasers. But I think I've made up teams that should provide some very close racing for everyone. This will require two club rooms. Anyone willing to host one of the rooms?

Room 1

Team Green
Zona99 - Super GT
elgcee42 - GT500
Whiteford48 - GT300

Team Red
JotaFDuarte - Super GT
Old Geezer - GT500
Geezer1791 - GT300

Team Blue
Pepper Mallard - Super GT
PapaGnr - GT500
GBO Possum - GT300

Room 2

Team Yellow
Stewyripper - Super GT
Mots63 - GT500
Karter995 - GT300

Team Silver
daduce1947 - Super GT
NoSoks - GT500
Fun at Sixty - GT300

Team Orange
Oldboy1943 - Super GT
Macdog54 - GT500
Wheeler Turner - GT300

Team White
Waukazoo - Super GT
Rock-n-Soul - GT500
Ozirules12 - GT300

Now is the time for anyone that is going to race or not going to race to take a moment and post here. Please let me know your intentions so I can redo all the teams in time for everyone to know what team they are on and cars they are using.

The time and date that works best for the race is the second weekend of January.
These are the race start times in a span of areas across the globe. If you notice a discrepancy for a time in your area, please let me know.
Jan.11 in Los Angeles at 9pm Sat., in New York at 12 midnight Sat., in London at 5am Sun., in Helsinki at 7am Sun., in West Java at 12 noon Sun., in Australia at 3pm Sun.

More info to come. Happy Holidays!

I'm in. Hardly can wait till 11th of Jan. Look like You all have made good job with teams.
Now back to the garage and start looking for GT500 's and start training season.

I wish very good racing year 2015 to everybody!

Mots / Team Yellow

I'm in but could someone tell me what it's like at 5 am in the morning?

Is it cold, I suppose it will be dark, how long will it take my reactions to catch up with the fact I'm not asleep.

I could go on but I think you get the drift especially so as were nearly all retired, it's been 22 years since I last worked and had to get up early.

Thanks @waukazoo  for all your efforts, much appreciated and hope your enjoying Christmas along with everyone else.

Looks like I'll be going GREEN, possibly in more ways than one.

Blue is the perfect team color for me. I was a huge fan of the Neptune Racing Team in Australia back in the 1960s. Here are three of their cars battling it out. They were members of a team, but the competition between them was fierce.

How do you like this shade of blue, @pmallard and @PapaGnr?

well i'm available. My only concern is the volume of racers in each room. My connection hates more than 10. I have spoken heatedly with my connection, but to no avail. As soon as l can find a different provider these useless ****s are out. Hope Sony gets their sh** together. There is Sony maintenance right now..... we can only hope.
Also @ Team Silver... any preference on Silver shade?
Also ANY GT500 car?

You'll need to own each of these in the list below, and use each one once in each of five events. Skip back to Wauk's explanation of a while back.
Nissan GT-R GT500 Base Model '08
Honda NSX GT500 Base Model '08
Lexus SC430 GT500 Base Model '08
Nissan Z GT500 Base Model '06
Toyota Supra GT500 Base Model '05

I've been tring to figure out a better time for everyone and still keep the teams and rooms well matched.
This may work if everyone is ok with these changes.
Change team Yellow to Stewyripper, Nosoks and Karter995.
Change team Orange to Old Boy1943, Rock-n-Soul and Fun at Sixty.
Change team Silver to daduce1947, Mots63 and WheelerTurner.
Change team White to Waukazoo, Macdog54, Ozirules12

Move team Silver to room #1.
Change room #1 event start time to January 11th 10am Saturday Los Angeles time, in New York 1pm, in London 6pm, in Finland 9pm. Hopefully someone will check these times to make sure I have them figuered out correctly.

This also leaves nosoks in a room of 9 and hopefully a better chance of a decent connection and may be able to work out a better new time for room #2 as with the changes it is not spread as far around the globe. I'll work on that tomorrow.
Any feedback is more than welcome.

Thanks to all that have fielded some of the questions that have been asked. And everyones patients with this.

Last week a few Geezers practiced the rolling start that will be in Wauk's Geezer Palooza. The idea belongs to

@geezer1791. The race will start from the grid position with all the groups mixed up. After the start, each group forms up,

keeping about 10 car lengths between each group, warming up their tires while maintaining their position. On approaching

the start line at 60 mph (about 100 kph), maintaining station, each group's appointed driver will give the GO command

at the line.

Here are 2 examples. In photo 1, @pmallard gave the GO signal with @waukazoo & @zona99 just behind.

In photo 2, @oldboy1943 gave the Go command with @geezer1791 & myself on either side.

I hope this works well on Race Day.

This type of start is more realistic but require all pilots have practiced.
The automatic positioning by the classification time is much more practical.;)

There will be no qualification, so the automatic positioning will mix all the cars. The way Wauk wants us to start will

prevent burnouts & collisions when the start flag falls. There should be enough time before the event for teams to

practice the start.

If the objective is to group all the Class A drivers, all the Class B drivers and all the Class C drivers each into their own group, then couldn't we use the qualification system to do that for us?

If the A drivers put in a normal blistering lap, the C drivers a snail pace lap (I'm good at that) and the Bs a lazyish lap wouldn't that do it?

But maybe I'm not seeing the issue of "burnouts & collisions" clearly.

The TTs results would resolve the positioning

The reasons for a manual grid rolling start are to avoid any glitchiness and complete programmatic asshattery. The organizers are rightly taking responsibility for control of their event out of the hands of arrogant programmers, who think they know what's best, and also not relying on antiquated hardware being overtaxed by those same programmers.

Manual grid rolling starts are the only right way to do it. They will take a bit more time and require folks to pay attention and do what they're told.

I should have my PS3 fully operational in a few.
  1. Thoroughly Cleaned
  2. Monster Power - Clean Power added
  3. Power A Media Bar added
  4. 240GB SSD to replace the old 160GB platter HD
Roxio Game capture to be added soon when the needed additional bits & pieces arrive from Amazon.

Santa & family were indeed kind this season.

So when the system is finished restoring I'll host a room for rolling start practice for anyone interested in some general racing and rolling start practice.

Pray you all had a wonderful & Blessed Christmas!

That wasn't aimed at you specifically Possum. I was catching up on the thread and hadn't had my morning Pepsi, which is what I use in place of what most of the geezers use coffee for.

My apologies if you took offense.

I've participated in a few series where pre-qualification was done and manual grid rolling starts were the rule, not the exception. It works very well when folks care.

My previous post was aimed at the aforementioned programmers and hardware manufacturers.

@waukazoo

So how is the winning team in a race determined? Is there a points system, or is it based on time?

And after the five races are run, how is the winning team determined? Again, some allocation of points by event or what?

@GBO Possum
Keep in mind this event is for us to have fun and to enjoy the experience of racing within our club.

It will be scored on a simple point system. Each driver receives points determined by where they finish within their group.
Group A is only scored against other A drivers, and so on. The points from each driver within each team are then combined. The total from the team score in all 5 races are then combined for an overall winner. Lowest score wins. First place from each group would equal 1 point, second equals 2 points and so on. Three groups three first place's, three seconds and so on.
