Each group races the members of their group, so there will be 3 podiums in each race. Points will be awarded to finishing

positions. So theoretically there could be 15 different winners. Remember we are racing for FUN & FELLOWSHIP,

regardless of where we finish. :gtpflag:

@GBO Possum
Keep in mind this event is for us to have fun and to enjoy the experience of racing within our club.

It will be scored on a simple point system. Each driver receives points determined by where they finish within their group.
Group A is only scored against other A drivers, and so on. The points from each driver within each team are then combined. The total from the team score in all 5 races are then combined for an overall winner. Lowest score wins. First place from each group would equal 1 point, second equals 2 points and so on. Three groups three first place's, three seconds and so on.

Thanks, guys!

I totally agree that the goal is FUN!

At the same time, a little rivalry is a good thing :D

Just wondering what the drivers in each group think about all using the same optional assists, or none except ABS and Traction Control, ( driving line if wanted)

The reason I ask is because I have only ever used ABS. Just to see the difference, I tried AS on "Mild" and ASM "On", I couldn't believe I knocked 3 seconds off a lap at TRM.

In the spirit of keeping it close and competitive = Fun, how about an agreement we all use the same combination, in any group that wants to.

Hi guy's , this might sound strange , but where will I find the races ? In Community ? & as I am in GT300 are the 5 cars all base models ? & if a practice race can be arranged , I am in .
I am with Possum here as I prefer assists also .
Cheers Ozi

It's not so much that I prefer assists, it's that I appreciate the freedom to use them. My standard approach is to set ABS=1 and traction control to zero, leaving whatever the default is for the rest. I think that's "off", but I pay no attention since, quite frankly, I don't understand what they do. I do like the option, in rare cases, to try a tiny bit of traction for some cars.

One exception is SRF, which the community has taught me to avoid as being unrealistic.

The other is "the line" which I think of as a substitute for G force.

My point is that I appreciate freedom!

The geezers fall in a wide range. Some have had little time online racing, and others of us get a dailly dose. With the exception of SRF all the other driver options should be available to use. If everyone runs the cars set as they had them set when doing the 3 time trials there should be plenty of close competitive racing. This is only the third event we've had as a club we are all still learning and using one event to improve the next while tring to introduce as many geezers to online racing as possible.

Once done, This event can be easily repeated by anyone or any teams with any settings or level of competition they wish but for now there is little time to change too many things and still run it next weekend. I hope everyone enjoys it for what it is and uses it to improve the next one.

I've been tring to figure out a better time for everyone and still keep the teams and rooms well matched.
This may work if everyone is ok with these changes.
Change team Yellow to Stewyripper, Nosoks and Karter995.
Change team Orange to Old Boy1943, Rock-n-Soul and Fun at Sixty.
Change team Silver to daduce1947, Mots63 and WheelerTurner.
Change team White to Waukazoo, Macdog54, Ozirules12

Move team Silver to room #1.
Change room #1 event start time to January 11th 10am Saturday Los Angeles time, in New York 1pm, in London 6pm, in Finland 9pm. Hopefully someone will check these times to make sure I have them figuered out correctly.

This also leaves nosoks in a room of 9 and hopefully a better chance of a decent connection and may be able to work out a better new time for room #2 as with the changes it is not spread as far around the globe. I'll work on that tomorrow.
Any feedback is more than welcome.

Thanks to all that have fielded some of the questions that have been asked. And everyones patients with this.

Wauk, Just to confirm some changes.

Room #1 will be starting at (New York time) January 11th 1:00PM? Is that correct?

I notice reference to running it "next weekend" in your second post, so I'm confused a little. The 11th gives me longer to tighten up the nut behind the wheel.

I'm excited by this event and really appreciate the efforts made by the team to set it all up for success!

Yes 1 in the afternoon for New York if I got the times zones correct which I may not have. I hope someone will verify those. My mistake on the weekend January 11 is correct for room #1. Sorry for the confusion everyone. Late night at a friends house with some old buddies.

Have another  !!

That sounds like a much nicer time than the midnight to 2AM shift! :D

Thanks!!

JUST FOR GRINS:

Try your new Chevy Chaparral 2X that you just got in the Seasonal Event. Add 200kg and drop the power to get down to 750PP and buy Racing Intermediate and Racing Soft tires. Run it in the Super License "24 Minutes of Le Mans". Start on the Racing Intermediate tires. You'll have to stop every 2 laps for a battery change (I guess that's what a pit does). DON'T FORGET TO PIT!

O M G !

I had to change from bumper view to roof-top view. I was getting CAR SICK :yuck: and I couldn't see the road in the prone position.

Even pitting every other lap, you'll still win by half a lap! What a thrill doing over 200MPH even on the short straights.
:gtpflag:

Sorry guy's , but I don't know what tracks we will be racing on , Nurburgring GP/f is one & are the rest the ones we did the time trial on ? Also is there placings for the Laguna Seca time trial ? I don't log on every day & must have missed these .
Cheers Ozi

Ozi,
Check out Waukazoo's post #1033 on page 35.

You will only need the five cars for the driver group you are in. The group you fall into will be based on the results of the three time trials in Relics garage.

Class C
Subaru BRZ GT300 Base Model '12
Autobacs Garaiya GT300 Base Model '08
Lexus IS 350 GT300 Base Model '08
Subaru Impreza GT300 Base Model '08
RE Amemiya RX-7 GT300 Base Model '06

Class B
Nissan GT-R GT500 Base Model '08
Honda NSX GT500 Base Model '08
Lexus SC430 GT500 Base Model '08
Nissan Z GT500 Base Model '06
Toyota Supra GT500 Base Model '05

Class A
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) LM Race car '06
Gran Turismo Ford GT LM Spec II Test car
Nissan GT-R R35 Touring car
Citroen GT by Citroen Race car
Pagani Zonda R '09

All cars must be stock as they were when purchased. No tuning or added parts allowed.
With only these exceptions. You may do an oil change, you may adjust the brake bias, you may use custom wheels.

The car classes are not equal. Group A drivers in super GT cars are only competing among themselves. Group B compete among themselves and group C among themselves.
The cars in a particular class are not equal. They are fairly close in lap times but all offer different caricteristics. You can choose which of the five cars in your class to use in which race. Practicing on the different tracks to decide which car suits which track best for you can make a big differance in how well you do in the races.. But, you can only use a car once. 1 car, 1 race. 5 cars, 5 races. Once a car is used it must be retired and may not to be used in any of the remaining races.

The Tracks. Not in the order of the races.
Fuji Speedway GT - 9 laps plus 1 rolling start lap
Tokyo R246 forward - 9 laps pluse 1 rolling start lap
Grand Vally Speedway forward - 11laps plus 1 rolling start lap
Nurburgring GP/F - 9 laps plus 1 rolling start lap
Twin Ring Motegi road course - 10 laps plus 1 rolling start lap
There is 1 manditory pit stop in every race.

An FYI:
If anyone cant get on track in a "Vehicle Tuning Prohibited" room when using a new car, go to Car Settings / Suspension, and click on "Reset to Default".

Thanks much for that tip Old_Geezer 👍. It is true,, many of us have had that happen. You've bought a new car just for that race, did "0" to the car except perhaps the oil change, joined a "DEFAULT SETTINGS ONLY" race room and found we could not get the car accepted. You've said: "WTF 🤬! I just bought the 🤬 car!!" :banghead:

Here's another "tip" I heard about that helped when the reset to ALL tabs to default alone did not get the job done - go to your trans, hit MAX SPEED,, adjust it one setting - either direction, click OK,, then bring the setting back to the default speed. Wah Lah!! the room allowed the car to join! LOL,, now you're saying "WTF?" again,, Who knows why but it has worked. :dunce:

GEEZERS RULE! :gtpflag:

Time for room 2 is not the same as room 1 ?

No the time zones were so spread out it would have had so many of us up at all hours day and night. So the best solution I could find was to run the rooms at two diferent times.

I just got done with room #2 time.
On January 10th at 5pm Saturday in New York, in London at 10pm Saterday, in Java at 5am Sunday, In Brisbane at 8am Sunday.

I am puting up the five tracks on Relics for practices if anyone needs to use them. Make note of the room settings if you are setting up a room of your own.

Be aware that if you use the tracks in Relics for practice and start and compleate a race, the results is automaticly posted and others can see what cars and times you ran.

Date corrected. I'm a :boggled: dunce.

I'm sorry but it doesn't take much to befuddle this geezer mind:lol:

I know we're on Geezer time but, think you're looking at a 2014 calendar, my 2015 calendar shows Sat 10th, Sun 11th. Room 1 is also Sat 10th?
