 The 2JZ came out when Toyota started putting V8s in the Lexus SC models. 2JZ never fit in, really. Was a good motor, but, was outdone by V8 POWER. *Insert Clarkson*

^^ I've read a lot, but, never heard/seen about their durability.

However, I used to work as a mechanic (for a school credit) & never worked on the SC300. I guess it IS a good car, then.

This one's an SC400, but it gives you an idea of the durability. :dopey:

^^ 7M is actually a V8, right? Was offered after the 2JZ came out, and made the 2JZ obsolete, right?

1UZ was the 4.0-liter V8 option, which was actually offered first for the SC lineup in the US market, then the NA 2JZ (which steadily outsold the V8 model).

I drive a 1991 Ford Escort LX. It has a 5-speed F series manual transmission, 13" wheels, 35MPG city (27 highway), 1.9L SEF engine, over 72K miles (still runs good), and only cost $950. It took me a while to learn how to drive a stick, but I got the hang of it after a few days of driving.

My future car is going to be either the Scion FR-S or the Hyundai Veloster Turbo.

Just wanted to post that I am astonished by the car Prices I read in this thread  ,second world problems I guess.

Oh and I drive my mom's datsun Sunny (laugh away)

Any specific examples? With respect, I haven't seen anyone buying a McLaren around here... So, I'm not sure what you mean. :) I'm just asking.

Not sure I understand either....... :boggled:

In fairness, there was a beautiful Nismo 350Z (a personal dream car of mine) three pages back. Oh, and a custom 350Z, and a 2012 GT-R... :dunce: He has a point, I guess, but, no one mentioned the prices in those posts.

Meant the used car market as a whole, you can get alot of exciting cars for a very reasonable amount of money.

I went to look at a Lexus SC400 recently, today, just after getting my first job.

The owner doesn't ever move it/use it/do anything with it, and left it in storage at a mechanic's shop. The mechanic will try to contact the owner, but, if he fails, there are a few possibilities:

  • The psycho (wouldn't you cherish a Lexus...?) who owns it, but doesn't want it could be dead. :(
  • The mechanic could contact the gov't or police to find out what he can do
  • Following the option directly above, he could, possibly, be allowed to sell it
  • Following the third option, I could buy it for $900 CDN.
  • Following that option, I could be quite happy. ;)

What do you guys think of that?

Sounds like a great deal.

I do agree. Should I ever turn the Winter Stars Tuning Garage into a real garage, rather than just a GT5 Tuning Garage, that would be my first project car:

it's a red '94-'96 SC300 with the V8 and an automatic transmission.

-I'd swap the automatic transmission for a manual, (I'm not the first to prefer the V8 manual, though it was never sold as such,)
-restore it (remove the rust, new paint (maybe) to match the old red...)
-put gold/bronze Volk TE37s on it,
-change the steering wheel,
-and install a few parts (roll cage, adjustable springs, improved (and more efficient) brakes in place of the 4 non-slotted disc brakes, and I'd likely add the '97 front bumper.

Sounds like a nice car. Just please, please, don't put freaking gold wheels on it. It's only been done a million times, and it's ugly. :sly:
Be different and put some nice wheels of a different color on it. I recommend dark silver, it looks nice on just about any car, and it's still uncommon on most cars.

Clearly, those are my other choices...

Unless I wanted to stick with my original idea.

It would look like this:

But, not a BMW; it would still be a Lexus.

Come on now, it's a Lexus, not a tuner. :dunce:

I actually like the first one the best. White and gold wheels aren't to my liking.

This... doesn't... compute... Failure to understand...

How can you choose the very low to the ground car, as your favourite, while saying that "it's a Lexus, not a tuner?"

Also, P.S., it would be nice if PD let us paint our rims in metallic shades...
