I drive a 1998 Evo V GSR with some nice mods. ;)

Car was imported in Sept 2008.

Just got a set of standard Evo V alloys on it for winter (got them off eBay for £70), but also have a set of white Buddy Club P1's.

List of things that were already done when I got it.....

  • Evo VI front end (most obvious thing)
  • Ralliart Stainless Steel CAT Back
  • Ralliart Panel Filter
  • Front & Rear Strut Braces (front unknown, think its a Mitsu one, rear is Cusco)
  • Wind deflectors
  • Ralliart Mud Flaps
  • HKS Coilovers
  • Super A Lightweight Track Steering Wheel
  • Apexi Turbo Timer
  • Mitsubishi boost gauge & volt gauge (boost gauge currently not working, will need to look into that)
  • White Buddy Club P1 Racing alloys (not currently fitted)

No real major things done, but a few nice things.

With the white Buddy Club P1's (pic of the car before I bought it from DCY)....

Evo VI front end (most obvious thing)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's only a VI bumper, right? The V has orange quarter lights, whereas the VI has clear ones (apart from the TME).

Sweet car :) To say that I'm jealous is an understatement :)

the fronts are actually only slotted and rears are dimpled, not fully X-drilled, but i guess they're similar.. ;-) thanks for comments!

Very nice prelude dude looks like a TOP SECRET car lol! And u have a wheel just like mine, its very nice when we can take it home 👍 LOL

Love your car, mate. 👍

Have you thought on putting some spacers all around for a better stance?

Cheers for the comment mate, never thought about putting some spacers on, she's wide enough for me as is just now. Might be a thought later on.

Cheers mate!

You're right mate, when I said front end, I meant the bumper, because thats the main difference, I also prefer the orange indicators, personally I think it gives it more of a JDM look. ;)

Well I had 4 cars in my lifetime so far. First car which I drive currently is 92 BMW e30 325cic, then I bought e28 M5 from auction smashed up a bit with plans of me and my doing engine swap from M5 to 325. (Popular engine swap in Europe) So then I needed a car to drive for every day while we would be working on a swap. I got a 94 e36 325is (sweet car :) ) Unfortunately my plans never happened because we got 02 e46 m3 in trade at my dealer. And that car was my dream. I mean it had everything I wanted, Alpine white, SMG, Premium sound, just had no Navi and had 18's (which later I replaced with Competition package m3 rims 19's) So had to get rid of 94 325is. Drove m3 for 2 years and then got a paycut so I didn't want to have big car payments and my extended warranty was almost out so I had to sell it :(. And now still have the m5 and my e30. Here I'll try to put in some pictures of my cars. No picture of my e36 though it's still sitting in my broken hard drive. :( BTW picture with me standing by the car was the last picture right when I sold it that day :guilty:

Btw this is not my car in this picture, but it's 99% the same.

H3rmaN: I see that one of your brake rotors is cracked. You are going to need to fix that right away or you risk ruining something in a catastrophic way!

Yay Ralliart mudflap buddy. Your Evo looks pretty clean mate, good stuff. But yeah, make sure you get your rotor looked at and replaced before something goes horribly wrong.

Did you buy the Ralliart stuff yourself or did it come with the car? Stuff like the exhaust is awe inspiringly expensive. I got my (albeit mild steel) 3 inch exhaust from the turbo back for well under half what the Ralliart catback would set me back.

How much are you boosting? I'm hitting 1.1 bar at night, it's pretty awesome for a mostly standard car. Do you have any plans for it, or just enjoy it for now?

Brake rotor??? If you mean the discs, trust me they are 100% defo not cracked, just looks funny in the pic, and I'm assuming you are meaning this pic....

Does look like there's a crack at the bottom going from the outer edge in, but thats not actually a crack, I cleaned the car yesterday and even took the wheels off and all was fine, no cracks or nothing.

Ralliart stuff came with the car when I bought it, as did everything else. Should be getting hold of a 2nd hand stainless steel CAT back soon that's a bit less restrictive and is 110dB loud without the CAT (not a Blitz Nur Spec R, unknown make, but getting it dirt cheap)! However I still have the CAT fitted, so will be quieter on my car.

Not sure what I'm boosting, probably between 1.0 and 1.1 bar, I know 1.0 bar is standard for an Evo V, need to get my boost gauge sorted to I can find out....

Not many plans for it just yet tho.

If you're keeping the cat, why bother changing it? Generally speaking, the cat is one of the most restrictive parts of the exhaust, so if I was you, and I was keeping the cat, I'd stick to a known, good quality exhaust that an unknown second hand one, unless you want the noise. But it's your car, so 👍.

And wow, 110 dB? Over here, for my car, the limit is 95. Anything more and you risk getting fined and having your car ordered off the road until you can quiten it down. I think I've got one of the quietest full 3 inch systems ever, it just hits 92 dB at 4000 rpm (which is where it's measured).

Getting my intake done today though, swapping the standard airbox to where the battery sits behind the headlight, and running ducting from the bumper into it, and a pretty much straight intake pipe from the box into the turbo, should be sweet for a couple of psi hopefully, which means I'll be right at the verge of hitting the factory boost cut.

Thing is, removing the CAT will increase top end power by a bit, but will also reduce peak torque by a bit too. Seems strange I know, but thats what's being said over at the MLR (Mitsubishi Lancer Register), and I'm not gonna argue with those guys. The exhaust I'm getting is off a guy who was running it on his Evo VI RS Sprint, so I don't think it's a random cheapo make, and its stainless steel (so is the Ralliart) so can't really go too wrong, I just don't know what make it is tho.

Main reason I'm changing it is that this exhaust is a bit more free flowing, so a bit more power, and the Ralliart is pretty quiet with it's midbox and oval backbox, this system only has a cicular backbox and no midbox, so the Evo should start to sound like an Evo should! ;)

Airbox sounds nice mate, I'd love to get a carbon fibre one made up, but would cost an arm & a leg! :(

Wouldn't mind getting an Apexi induction kit, they are meant to be one of the best filtering and best flowing induction kits around. 👍

As I'm sure you're fully aware, make sure you don't get boost cut, not good. :nervous: Dont want to damage anything. 👍

Fair enough about your exhaust, I'm running a central muffler, a resonator and the muffler at the back. It's overkill, but I'd rather lose a few hp than be hassled endlessly by the cops.
Funny about the torque though, I've picked up a bit of pull down low, but I guess the rest of the exhaust makes up for the lack of a cat maybe?

I was pretty close to getting the Apexi intake kit, it's meant to be really good, but the guy who works on my car (who's probably one of the top Mitsi guys in the country), recommended what I'm going with, as apparently the factory airbox is really well designed in terms of flow, and with the ducting into the box, I shouldn't lose any power compared to any off the shelf intake kit. Get the car back tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Planning on going MAFless in the future anyways (probably with a D-Jetro PowerFC), so this is a pretty good upgrade until then.

Got rid of this ^. Head cracked between the exhaust port of no 2 cylinder and the inlet port of no 3. Unfortunately, I couldnt find a suitable replacement head. So I sold it to some guy who kept muttering "13b"...

Anyway, bought this off my brother for an insanely cheap price when he upgraded. Polished it, and tossed the 13" tri spoke rims that were on it. Picked new rims and tyres up for a carton of beer. Changed the timing belt. Now it reeks of awesome.

Great pictures of the Commodore there mate.👍 What size are your rims on that?

Edit: Never mind, I seen in your original post you have 18". That's what I want, but these rims:

Not in chrome though either, there is a colour called hyper black which is like a satin chrome/powder grey (what ever you call it?).

You going for that hot new look?

I don't entirely get your joke, so I'll just say yes.:sly: Now, where did I put that spare few grand I had lying around to complete the look of my car? (Still gotta get the hard tonneau, Maloo sailplane and "filler panels" [Which I can't explain too well what they are]).

The caption in your photo.

Oh. They also say it's for the Hot 4's and drifter market, despite IMO clearly looking more along the lines of classic muscle cars. They must use the same wheel pictures for every category, because the same wheel is in the large car segment (i.e. Falcon and Commodore section) and listed 18" and I think up to 20s even.

Edit: The picture is small, but this is Hyper Black here, in bad lighting.

Heres my '01 Dodge Viper RT/10. Its got a catback exhaust system and a few other goodies :sly: its puttin out about 520 hp but that should increase soon. kinda nervous since its already a handful to drive because of the lack of traction control :nervous: ive gotten it up to 168 so far and i dont think that will be changing any time soon because that was crazy. ok well i just have this pic for now but i might put more on soon :)

I didn't know that there is a Viper in the Cali area in a garage like that. Tonight, I just saw a Blue/White Striped one on my way home.

I bought my first car about 2 months ago, a 1990 white VN Commodore with mag wheels and lowered. I'm still a learner and I got about 10 hours up in it, I was just starting to get comfortable driving around Sydney. My dad was driving me to pick up my friend to go to a rugby league game, I was reading the road map to see how to get there and my dad was looking at it too. He accidently ran a red light and we got side swiped on the passenger side, it was at a weird intersection. The lights for our side and the lights for the cars coming from the left were almost facing the same direction.

So the cars basically stuffed, it seems that two new doors would fix it but the middle pillar is bent and that would cost 800 to straighten. My dads paying me back for the car. I'm getting a Ford Laser off my sister for 700 in July so that's good. Still a bugger though since the VN was such a good car for its age.
