It was just something I did looking at it one day. I had been getting a high-speed vibration starting at about 120 mph and getting worse all the way till I backed off at 145 but once I did this and lowered the car an inch with Tokico D-Spec shocks and FRRP springs its all buy vanished. There's a slight bit left but I chalk that up to pushing the brick of a front end and the meh tires.
I wish my 442 had these problems  (It shuts off at 117)

Right, well here she is..

She was only supposed to be temporary transport whilst my 635 was fixed up.. but then the 6 got stolen :( so this is my main wheels now..

I have a 1999 BMW 316i Contour Compact. It's my "Bavarian Bullet". It is a great One Doctor Owner car with 95,300km's on the odometer (42,530 miles) and is displayed in pristine Alpinweiss 3 with Athranticite Grey Velour trim. It is my first car and it can be described as the "perfect first car".

It is of coarse Rear Wheel Drive and the update 316i Contour with the 1.9 Liter Z3 engine in it, which is torquey and very responsive and is coupled to the 5-Speed Manual transmission of coarse, since BMW does some of the best engine/gearbox couples in the buisness. The gearbox is so light and the changes are very precise, the steering is sharp considering it is 10 years old; the suspension setup has a sporty zest, especially when you feed it some nice corners and i love the engine performance; it is quick off the mark, very sporty in its operation, and it loves to rev; it is also very safe, it has 4 Airbags, ABS, TCS and Stability Control which i find quite surprising for a 10 year old car, most cars of the same size don't even have that as standard equiptment now. I love it to death, and many of my friends can vouch for this :sly:

350ci put a cam in, 750cfm carb, hi-rise intake manifold, heads with 2.02 vales, headers and glass packs. But the BEST part is its a manual! super T-10 a 4 speed!
-the nascar plate cover is a inside joke
-I didn't do a AC delete like I should of.
-the $80 purple hornys (glass packs) are a temp cheap solution.

This thing is in great condition, and I wish I could come across a 2nd gen F Body in this condition. You should share and archive it here https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=122883, it would fit in perfectly.

allent2, your car rocks the house! Is there any pics with a hello GTP sign for proof just to be sure?:)

Ah I see, a USAF person. My intent wasn't to call him out as a liar, I was just more curious than anything. I figured there must be a story in there somewhere.

yeah airforce sent me to germany! I didnt bring it with me. I wish I could of but I could only send one car so I brought our family car as I have a wife a two little girls. Maybe at my next Base! I wish it was here though Im not far from Nurburgring that would rule! But I hope to find some guy that crashed his say 02' SS camaro so i can grab his LS2 and 6speed and throw it in my camaro. I want to finish it in a pro-turing syle.

It'd be an LS1 if it's coming out of an '02 Camaro SS. :) But that'd be a badass swap for your Z28. Hell, I love your car as it is.

Speaking of LS2 swaps, my car is coming along great. It's an '01 S2000, and it's been with Hinson Supercars since April of this year. They're an amazing shop just about 2 hours north of me. They're using my car to develop a kit to swap a GM LS block into the S2000. Everything should be finished early next year.

When I first bought it back in March '07:

Test-fitting an LS1 block a couple months ago:
ls2k1.jpg

The steering rack had to be modified and mounted further forward for clearance, which is done now. Should be mounting the LS2 soon and fabricating the turbo manifolds afterward. Doing a mild single-turbo setup, going for 650-700 rwhp initially. I'll be posting a ton of info on my site in the coming months: http://www.glubags.com

Hinson is also keeping a page updated on the progress here:

You're putting an LS2 in an S2K? The little 120bhp/l F20C is what makes the S2K such a gem. Hugely sacreligious if you ask me.

I respectfully disagree. While 240bhp out of 2 liters is certainly nothing to scoff at, the meager torque curve is laughable. 9,000 rpm redlines are fun, but not when the motor is still producing only double-digit torque at 4,000 rpm.

No, what makes the S2000 such a gem is it's balance, and we've been very conscious of that from the beginning of this project.

A fully dressed F20C weighs in right around 384 lbs. The LS2 is between 440 and 450 depending on which accessories are used, so let's say 445 to be fair. That's a difference of 60 pounds up front (2% total weight of the car), and we're keeping the engine mounted well behind the front strut towers. The weight difference between the S2000 transmission and a T56 is negligible. Battery relocation, fluid reservoir relocation, and a number of similar weight-conscious measures are being undertaken to ensure the car remains true to its stock balance.

Honda put a high-revving I4 in the S2000 to keep it faithful to its 1960s roots, but this is now my car, not Honda's. Nostalgia plays no role in this for me. All I have in mind with this project is performance, and I'm of the opinion that bettering an already excellent car purely in terms of performance is anything but sacrilege. 👍

Rock on man, as long as you drive the thing is all I care. Cars aren't meant to be shelf pieces.

So basically a 16% weight penalty in return for 67% more power and more than 2.5 times the peak torque? And that's before FI? Sounds freakin' awesome.

Good luck with the swap and let us know how it goes. 👍

How do you plan on keep all the power hooked up with such narrow tires and such a short wheelbase though? Huge fender flares + r-comps everywhere you go? Beefing up the diff and rear axle any?
