Was a good practice run:tup:

Well I honestly had stuff to do Sat, and my internet went out again (whole internet) on Saturday night anyways. :ouch: The construction is doing good though, the road is graveled over now and its only ripped up above the hill from me. I'm hoping they can scurry and get it done before the first snow storm.

Okay, so on a completely unrelated note, Tom and myself are working on putting together a spot race on the 27th (a Sprint Cup off week).

Full power, minimum aero, Racing Hard tires, 160 laps of Indy. "Full realism" mode ;). I mentioned it briefly during the race yesterday and it seemed to get a bit of interest. It would be open to everyone, but I can reserve spots for any SC/Nationwide guys that are interested.

Just out of curiosity, how would you enforce minimum aero? Maybe I'm ignorant to these things (usually am) but it would be easy to add 3 notches of downforce and suddenly I'd have Spurgey's cornering skill without arousing much suspicion.

With 20/40 downforce, the car has 632 PP. Adding 1 point of downforce makes the PP jump up to 633. Limiting HP slows you down; Adding weight increases tire wear.

But yeah, after that, honor system. I wouldn't let anyone in if I had any reason not to trust them.

You can also do the 'reverse' power and weight checks. Would only take a minute since all the cars are the same.

Why not have this with a 632 PP restriction? That way each individual can choose how to get there (aero v speed).

Could be fun?

Has to be 100% trust. These 'checks' won't work.

Well, they will. You just have to set the pp restrictions, have everyone join, then set it to power and weight and repeat. If nobody goes to the setting page from the start of the checks to the green flag, you can be certain everybody is playing by the rules.

Voila.

We've done them before many, many times. In fact, it'll be even easier since we're basically just using 1 car. Although, I'm noticing the #42 car has an extra PP for some reason.

I'll have a thread up in the Spot Race forum by the end of the week.

I'm confused at what you guys don't understand. Less power, more downforce, same PP. There is no check for that, regardless of how many times you keep saying it. It's Indy, and Less Power + more downforce should easily produce faster lap times. In the draft, no one will even notice the power difference. Better handling, better tire wear, less fuel used.
The car will still pass the PP check, the weight check and the power check. I repeat, it's 100% trust.

You have a point, but it's easily fixed, just tell everyone to go to track, then put the bhp 1 notch down to what the actual limit is, then everyone should be kicked off track, if they're not, you know that they're cheating :) Obviously it does leave some room for lowering bhp, but hardly enough to make a difference.

Don't understand why the debate about. GTPA has a group of guys you can trust with things like this. I can't think of anyone who would bend the rules set out.

Plus, it's a spot race.

Just put out the regs and everyone will follow them.

If it's done at a random time, sure. Otherwise the cheater simply just clicks "exit" when that check occurs. I don't expect anyone to cheat, my point was just that if you think the afore mentioned checks prevent the possibility, that you are mistaken.

Agree with Adrenaline. There is no check for minimum power, only for maximum power.

What are the two closest power limit settings to 892hp? I think they are 888 and 898 right? If so, all you could do is check to make sure no one was under 889hp by setting the room to 888hp and seeing if it lets them stay on track (kicked off track at 888hp setting = in compliance).

You should probably figure out what max PP is for 889hp with 0 downforce and limit the race to that. Otherwise, anyone could run 889hp with whatever downforce is allowed, and you would never know.

I know the difference wouldn't be great between 892hp + 0 aero vs. 889hp + slight aero, but the smallest advantage is going to be magnified pretty significantly over the course of a 160 lap race.

It we knew it didn't work, we wouldn't do it.

It works. Trust me.

If I had my car set to 889hp with a few clicks of downforce, and still had a PP of 632, there is absolutely no way you would ever know. No amount of room settings could tell you this.

It's a spot race, cheating may be possible, but you'll only be cheating yourself, don't bother signing up for a race if you just want to cheat. The 13 or 14 people in the room that don't win, if they had a good race, they'll still be happy, they would have had a chance to have a clean, strategy-filled race with these type of regs for the first time, put on downforce and you're missing out.

simple, make sure everyone joins room early, do a pp check, clear that but keep everyone on track, put bhp down a notch. everyone who leaves the track is clear. And what ak said.

So is everything (the rest of the season) delayed by a week? So the sprint all star thing is not this week but next?

I don't know if MULE woke up at 6am or he is still awake at 6am...

Lol. My money would be on still awake. Dunno if he's a shift worker or what, but I've seen his posts timestamped near the oh dark thirty mark as often as not. Either way he keeps some crazy hours.

I was on an 11:30-7 night shift for a couple of months last year, now I've been off and on on a 4:30-1 afternoon shift since last December. Really messes your body clock up. Some days I won't even get to sleep until 6:30/7ish in the morning.

I dont work today or tomorrow though :)

That shift is what most here in the states call 2nd. I wouldn't wish that shift on anyone. Worst time ever to be working IMO.

Race dates in the OP are updated.

Is there anyone other than Stormtrooper/possibly Gokartman who can't make it?

If Gokartman can't, I will race in the 99.

For us who started the race last Saturday but cannot race today, will we get last place points to compensate? I'm at my relative's house right now and as mentioned I cannot race.
