GTP vs Wham is the casual version of the game - avoid the song in November and December and you're good. The hardcore version is avoiding it throughout the entire year.

The standard version starts with the beginning of the advent season (the earliest date I can remember is November 27th) and ends when Christmas is over (December 24-26th, depending on the country you live in). As I said the last years, the song is called "Last Christmas" and not "Last/This Year". We play the hardcore version, because getting whammed outside the Christmas time is not really winning.

I had one hell of a near miss today.

Coming out one of the classrooms, I heard that ever so distinctive intro and I froze.

My thoughts at the time went like this:

Classrooms done, wait what's that sound?
OH DEAR GOD ITS LAST CHRISTMAS!!
I was braced for the Whamming and then....



I've never been so glad to hear Taylor Swifts voice.

I'm still in this, just 3 more school days to go, plus a funeral too ( cruel twist of fate if I get Whammed there. ).

I think my mistake was not listening to Wham before I signed up to remind myself what the intro sounded like.

Plus previous near misses had me slightly on edge as well, but Taylor was definitely singing Last Christmas so I know I'm not Whammed, just cover-whammed.

🤬, just like last year whammed by some 🤬 radio commercial for some 🤬 Christmas cd, again only the "Last Christmas" part, couldn't get out of the car as I was driving 90 km/h.
In hindsight that still might have been a better option.
