Got the black screen as I was trying to exit to pits. I'll be back for NA practice.

I had SEVERAL glitches during the race. The screen would freeze for half a second, just enough time for me to start to panic. PSN is getting a bit twitchy:scared:

Is NA practice at 8 or 10 PM Eastern? I know the race times are 10 PM, but post three says practice is at 8.

That happened to me once or twice today also and it's happened before on occasion. It's usually not a sign of bigger issues, as you said probably a hiccup in the system somewhere. Usually, the entire room experiences that tiny screen freeze at the same time.

I'm actually looking a big "iffy" to make the races tomorrow as I have in-laws in town and I'm not sure of their schedules so I've switched to reserve for now. I think EU is more probable and NA less likely.

NA practice is whenever guys show up and varies a bit week to week based on participation. Basically there is an NA/East crew and a NA/West coast crew -- our race slot tries to accommodate both, but our practice slot just spans the entire time from 8:00 PM until nobody is around. I'm in the west and I can't usually drive between 5:30 PM and 8:30 Pacific, but the time is still reserved for weekly practice (in case there are other special events going on at the time).

I've noticed that momentary freeze usually happens when someone enters pitlane. Usually only happens when the connection isn't the best it could be.

Could have been, but my internet isn't the greatest either.

Also, one thing I didn't get to ask, how are tires lasting for everyone else? I get to lap 8 and the tires feel like they lose all their grip even though barely any wear has happened.

We had a little discussion on chat after you got dumped. Snow reckons most will do a 1 stopper as the tires will definitely last 20 laps (they could go as long as 30. Maybe). I can do 12-14 lap stints without too much drop off, but it gets dicey at 13-14 if I make a mistake. That will likely put me on a 2 stopper, but I'll play it by ear.

One thing I did find is that the car seemed to have more grip in the race than in free run. It could be an illusion but I could do better laps in the race, and back to back, than I could in free run. Plus they didn't seem to fall off as much.

I'm going to try to make the practice tonight/race tomorrow. As the fall semester gets closer my gt5 time will start to decrease. 👎 I hope to keep up with the time trials for awhile, but we'll see how classes go.

I've noticed the same thing. Not so much the better laps, but the tires seem to wear a tiny bit slower than in free run.

Of course we could be having the same illusion .

Plus, if I remember correctly, the car handled tires better when fuel burned off.

At least it did around Monaco.

Canceling my status for the EU race. I will be in a meeting and thus not sitting by my wheel.

Anybody up for NA practice? I'm setting up the room.

Can someone send me the red one please :)
I have a Better colour scheme In mind, you know, olympics and all ;)

I'll send back a copy right away.

Expect it around midday tomorrow, I`ll dupe it myself.

Fun races today!

Here are some unofficial photos from tonight's practice. No watermarks, sorry no time to add them.

I can't say I noticed a difference in grip levels between free run and race. Maybe the difference was due to the race being only 7 laps? :sly:

Regarding pitstops, I think it all depends on how easy you are on the tires. If you could run 25 laps, then a 1-stopper will be your strategy, because your tires will be still in reasonable shape in laps 13-20. If you lose too much time on these laps, 2 stops will be quicker.

I did a test run, and the 2 strategies seem to be practically equal over 40 laps. Methinks, whoever determined the race settings, had exactly that in mind. ^^

See you in the morning (EU) if I manage to wake up and there's still slots :scared:

No tune needed is nice. I'm rubbish at Autumn Ring, though.

Hey guys, I'm not going to be able to join tonight's NA race. With a different car/track from the TT (and two that I'm not very familiar with) I just didn't have enough time to practice. I don't mind being slower than everyone else (which I usually am), but I think I would just be a nuisance and in the way because I would be so far off of the pace.

Good luck all, and have fun!

Thanks for the pics Al :) Now we have photographic evidence that Gooners was flying :lol;

I've switched my EU status to reserved as real racing might bump me out. I hate it when reality pushes against the simulated!

P.S. gman, come and play! The worst that can happen is you learn and have fun ;) Let me know if you want a walk around of the track with that car. I'll send you a replay with a description of what, where and why I do things.

Does qualifying start at 6 gmt tonight? for eu

Qualifying will be done when everybody is in the lounge before the racing starts, normally split into two groups depending on how many people show up

That would be great. If I can get to it, I might change my mind. I'll keep my reserve status for now. Perhaps if I get on early enough for some more practice I'll join you all.

I joined the room for a bit yesterday, and I didn't think that I could piece together consistent enough laps to keep myself from holding you guys up and being a nuisance. I'm not very good on the Autumn Ring, and it was basically my first time in the car (I think it had 8 miles on it). Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll see you all tonight.
