Off topic: Anybody know is it straight six in M3, or what...?

That M3 has a V8, for the first time ever. They were always straight 6 in the past. The big straight 6 is now the twin (Dual stage) turbo 335.

For the first time ever the M3 has a V8, which can rev up to 8300 rpm! It produces 420 hp and 400nm. At low rpm the engine mumbles a bit, but when you go over 5000 the party strarts and the V8 cries it out :D

(EDK beat me to it)

Thanks guys. 👍

That explains a lot about engine-sounds to me. My Old Lady has 3.0 straight six, and Remus exhaust system, and I couldn't find anything familiar from M3 sounds. (I had flashback that M3 should have straightsix too)

Events organized like this makes you feel really excited and anxious in a very positive way, thanks Kevin.

Edit:

Hey guys, anyone want a tune?

TLD M3

Anything in red is the new settings for Fuji, otherwise the other parts remain the same.;) :gtpflag:

I will give a try tonight for sure...thanks mate!

Lyvan,
please don't double post, use the edit button if you wish to add something new. 👍

I've merged your posts.

So are you trying both tunes or have I been dropped?:scared:

I'm gonna try both tunes for sure. 👍 ;)
But from the feedback of my friends (for those who tried your TLD M3 tune), it's kinda tail happy when exiting corners with 2nd gear. :)

Try using 3rd gear instead of second, to keep the power down whilst accelerating out of the corner.

I'd just like to put the word out here that Garage TZT has created a tune, but it is not released publicly - only by PM's to racers who have contributed to Garage TZT in any way. So if you think you might fit in that category, head on over.

I have tried both yours and the DC tune. I sucked equally much with both (which has nothing whatsoever to do with the tunes) so right now I'm using the DC tune with your gears. I'm having serious trouble setting times in the 1.43s so at the moment I am happy both that I don't have to race this week and that hopefully it will be another car next week...

If you drive it smoothly you hardly notice this at all. Grim says to try using 3rd gear, I might try that myself.:ouch:

I'm not fast with the M3 either, but i do like the car. It has that roar thing. Not the same sophisticated one the f430 has, a JP tuner roar instead, but still good. Also very nice for drifting.

Had my race with Zed300 and i won.
we joined at the practice time as this then gives you a chance of having less outsiders and much faster GTP members which then gives you much faster drivers who pull away so then you cant draft.

Lap1: i started in p1 and pulled away much quiicker off the line but Zed was soon on my back at 100r and basically inches away from me to the end of lap 1.
Lap2: Zed300 overtakes on the pit straight but down to the 1st corner i regain my posistion as i stook to the inside on the straight giving me the inside line on the corner.
Lap3,4,5 ime still infront and its bumper to bumper racing, 100ths of a second between us at the end off each lap.
Lap6: Zed300 overtakes me on the pit straight again and keeps the lead, my back end twitches on turn 1 but luckly it doesnt spin. At the start of the staright Zed300 had caught upto a Sub 07 but he moves to the the right side as not to draft him and i move away from behind Zed300 as not to draft him and repay the favour back.
Lap7: Zed300 is in the lead at turn 1 and is closely behind the sub and ime behind Zed and again bumper to bumper racing.
Lap8: ive over taken him on the straight and make quite a large gap into turn 1.
coming into 100r i can make out Zed300's M3 twitching into the corner and soon fading away in the rear view mirror, quick look at the map and the blue dot is now way behind.
Personal best lap time at end of lap 8 and about 2-3 second lead over him.
Lap9: steering wheel feels heavy making silly mistakes that are probably costing me time and hes catching up but not to close. This is my race ime thinking in my head and 1 more lap 2 go.
Lap10: Zeds about 2 secs behind now i think, lost time myself or hes made alot up i guess.
Come screaming down the pit straight and dont catch my breaking marker and go quite wide into turn 1, make a desision of not to drive to the limit and take it easy as 1 mistake could cost the win here. Another mistake at Dunlop but recover quite well and this is one place that Zed300 kept making up time on me. Approach Panasonic and let the car straighten out this time and then floor it to the finish line.
At the end it was just under 2 seconds between us and if he had not made that mistake on lap 8 i might not have been writing this.

Thanks for your time Zed300 and all the best for future competitions.

Any one struggling to actually get a race online?

I've sat and watched the loading bar reset about ten times. Same happened yesterday.

Nat 2 region (uk based ps3 - japanese game)

Race between GTP_Crispy74 and GTP_DukeOfPendle.

After about 6 attempts to arrive on the same grid, we finally hooked up.
The first 4 laps were very close, with both of us swapping the lead on the main straight with the aid of slipstream. Neither of us gaining sufficient gap round the twisties to break the tow. It was shaping up to be a close race, which would probably be decided by tactics.
Unfortunately for Crispy, he lost the back end on the exit of turn 1, Lap 4. This gave me a lead of approx 10 seconds. I guess he was pushing hard to catch up, because I believe he made another error later on.
So now it was a case of running the laps without a mistake for me. Fortunately I managed to hold it together for the remainder of the race, and emerged as the winner.
For the laps where we were racing closely, Chris drove like the true gentleman he is, and I look forward to racing him again. 👍

Race between GTP_Noah and GTP_gtbadboy.

Took some effort but we finally got hooked up with a great field. Noah jumped out to a great start and that pretty much determined the race. I ran some of my best laps unfortunately those laps came late in the race and I was never able to catch up. I suspect this young man will give Div III the fits over the next few weeks. Enjoyed the match up and the race. Well done Noah!! 👍👍

Good race, was a lot of fun. :)

EDK, can you please let GTP_TheCrazyOne and I know who is starting first and second on the grid? (I am still currently listed as a Bye Week so we can't tell who's where yet).

All head to head races will start from grid positions 1 & 2. The Driver Listed on the left hand side of each pairing will begin first on the grid.

with people trying to arrange times and dates to race would it not be a good idea to have a sticky for all registered members with times and days they mostly play on.
Example

Gtp_uk86ze
Mon-thur 1100am-1600pm 2300pm-0200am
Fri-sun 2000pm-0200am
Members only putting times on that they are 80% sure that you will meet them at that time.

Aye, I know this, except GTP_TheCrazyOne was a late entry to the race event, and so he isn't on the list yet, my name is listed only as "Bye Week".
