GTP_Fuzzy-Amuse S2k v GTP_zed300-Corvette/Tuned

This was a bit of a fizzer, as I went wide in Denger 1 on the 1st lap handing Fuzzy the flag.

Fuzzy was at least a second a lap faster anyway, so it wasn't much of a contest for him.

I was only able to run flat 1'58's, but the rubber band broke too early to have any chance of putting any challenge up.

Thanks Fuzzy, all the best in the coming races.

Thanks again. Good luck in future competitions, looking forward to my final matchup with LinPark. :)

Congrats Fuzzy, your always fast and a fine racer. Good luck in the next one mate. 👍

Unlucky Zed, no shame in losing to Fuzzy.

GTP_DukeOfPendle v GTP_EDK

After a couple of abortive attempts (due to dc and punters), we got away with a fairly small grid.
I was on pole, but Kev put his drag-racing skills to good use and lead into turn 1.
We swapped the lead a few times, then started to catch the other traffic, which was fortunately spead out nicely for us.
I managed to pass the first guy going into turn 1. Kev was not quite so lucky and was stuck behind for a short while, giving me a lead around 4 secs.
From lap 5 to 8, I could tell that Kev was putting in some quick laps, as the gap was slowly shrinking.
The last two laps I pushed harder and maintained a slight gap until the finish.
At the finish the gap was only 2.5 seconds.

Thanks for a great race Kev. You kept the pressure on the whole 10 laps. 👍👍👍

GTP_Vaxen (Tuned Vette) v GTP_EDK (Amuse S2000)

Dan and I met today a little after our lunch time. It took us 3 races to get it right, but we finally had a really good, fair race.

First race, we had 2 F430's that started out front due to low PP. I got lucky and made it past them without incident. Dan was not so lucky, and got shunted and punted. I was not sure, so I ran the rest of the race and won by 4 or 5 seconds. I offered a re-race and he took me up on it.

Second race, we had some issues with 2 Ford GTLM's. Punting, shunting, holdups. Then on lap 3, I managed to go into the over run at 130R and spun coming back on. I lost 10 seconds to Dan. I made up half of it by the end of the race, but he crossed the line in first. Dan was kind enough to offer a re-race, due to our troubles.

3rd race, only 4 of us on the grid. Dan, myself, GTP_Duke of Pendle, who offered to fill out a grid spot, and one more Tuned Vette.

He led out on lap 1, we traded positions a couple of times. I was managing the pass between spoon and 130R, Dan was getting it back on the front straight.

On lap 3, we came on the yellow vette at hairpin. Dan managed to pass him on the inside, I nearly punted him off the track, because he slowed more than I had expected.

I waited for him to straighten out, and was able to pass him between spoon and 130R, but by then, Dan had broken the tow and had a lead of about 2.5 seconds.

It took me until the end of lap 7, but I was finally able to reel him back in, and we had a great race on the last 3 laps.

Lap 9, I finally changed it up and just waited at 130R, and managed to get a pass on the front straight at the start of lap 10. Dan made a small mistake exiting Degner 2, and I was able to pull out the win, by just 2.5 seconds.

Dan's a true gentleman, was great to race with, and I hope to see him out on the track again soon.

GTP_Cohiba100 vs GTP_LinPark (Winner)

Cohiba was gracious enough to allow me to deal with some personal issues today until we finally hooked up on the track - he took pole in a grid of just 4 cars and I must say both of our Tuned Vettes looked smashing!

My launch was hideous so I just fell in behind him and followed for lap 1 to check his pace - I made a few mistakes but kept things close enough to finally make a clean pass on the front straight to start lap 2. I felt I had better pace so I started to push things and had built a small lead by the time we came to Casio on lap 2 - I punched the exit too much and spun enough to allow him to get past me and take the lead for lap 3. If anything, these laps had proved that I was faster through the first half of the track and he was faster throught he second section.

I followed him closely for lap 3 and was able to make a pass to start lap 4. I believe it was this lap that he made a slight mistake at Degner B and went off enough to spot me about a 2 second lead. As lap 5 rolled around I was coming up on the only car that kept racing ahead of us - the dreaded noob in an S2k. I followed him closely for about a half lap and was able to get by him on the back straight down to 130R. It took Cohiba a bit to get by him but he finally did somewhere on lap 6 I believe.

At this point I felt like I was in a pretty good groove turning in consistent laps with about a 2.3 second lead. However, I noticed the split times each sector and he was slowly starting to reel me in - I admit to being a bit cautious those last few laps and he admitted to turning in back to back 1'57.2xx's - at one point he had closed the gap to just over 1 second but fortunately for me he ran out of track - had this been a 12 lap race the outcome would have been very different I think.

Thanks for a great race Cohiba and good luck in future events!!

I must say the pressure is very much on this next race given the circumstances - if I understand the rules correctly, then this race with Fuzzy is a single elimination run. If he wins, I'm probably done with 2 losses and if I win, he is tied with me at 3-1 with me holding the tiebreaker. Talk about pressure after already turning in the 3 races. YIKES!!!! Fuzzy and I take to the track around 5 PM EST tomorrow for any spectators who wish to join.

👍

Pretty much how I saw it as well. It took some time to get past the guy in the S2K. Not because he deliberately tried to block me, he was no punter, quite the other way around in fact, very polite and aware of me. But he was racing and he did not give up his position freely. He was not the deciding factor though, my error in Degner was. Without it it would have been a stupenduosly close race as we were quite evenly matched in pace overall. It probably would have ended in tears in Casio on the final lap or something. :dopey:

Anyway, I was quite impressed by the racing skills of LinPark. I ran a very good race (for me) and did my very best to chase him down in the final five laps and and I know how stressful it is to see your competitor very slowly eat up your lead but LinPark did not make a single mistake. I managed to take it down from 2,9 to 1,3 seconds but as already stated I ran out of laps. Even if I had been able to catch him it would of course still have been a 50/50 chance for any of us.

Before the race my best free air time was a few 57.6 and now I did three 57.2 laps so I raised my game but was beaten by a better racer.

So all in all the race had a very worthy winner in LinPark and I wish you the very best of luck in future events.

GTP_Timeattack vs GTP_Racer_LP

TA was host and there were 5 other cars in the race. We were both in the Z06 tuned, TA started from pole with mee in 2nd. The 30 seconds came and we were off.

We both got away cleanly and TA was first into turn 1. I just followed him throughout the first lap and overtook him at the beginning of lap 2.

TA made a mistake at Degner on that lap, went off and lost 4 or 5 seconds.
Starting lap 3 I could see some traffic in front of me. It was the 2nd place driver at that time and I managed to overtake him on the back straight without any problems.

Coming out of the hairpin I could see the leader in a blue S2000 ghosting and coming back onto the track in front of me, but I couldn't overtake him into turn 1. There was alot of lag on his car and I couldn't overtake him at all. On top of that he was very slow and by the end of the first sector both the Evo and TA had closed the gap to us. At spoon, the Evo made a mistake, so TA was right behind me.

For some reason, the S2000 braked very early for 130R, I hit him, went on the grass on the right and just managed to keep it from spinning. I was behind TA now though, but he let me back passed on the main straight 👍.
Coming out of Degner, we had both passed him and could continue our race on our own.

We were close for the rest of the race and soon lap 10 came with me in the lead. I stayed in front till the exit of spoon. Then we came side by side just before 130R, with TA on the inside, maybe just a little bit in front of me with his nose.
TA gave me enough room on the outside (Thanks mate 👍) and we went through 130R side by side as I really wanted to have the inside for the chicane. I was in the lead coming out of it and TA had one last attempt at passing me. He pushed the trottle too hard though and hit the wall at the entry of the pitlane and I crossed the line first. :)

It could have been an easy win for me after TA went off, but the S2000 desided I had to fight for it, so I did and enjoyed it :). Thanks for the great race, Brock. And for letting me pass on the main straight. And for giving me the room on the outside of 130R. 👍

Hope to meet you on track again soon

GTP_Crispy74 Vs GTP_Eriba.

Well what can I say about GTP_Crispy74 (Chris) what a Gentleman he is, we both lined up in Corvette z06/tuned, me on pole, and Chris soon got the drop on me from the start line, I moved in be hide Chris round turn one and through the esses passing dead bodies on the way, S2000 Clio’s Elise, Chris skimmed past a Clio with me in hot pursuit.

I thought and this is just the start, round to the hair pin, yet another S2000 spun right on the bend, I kept in close to Crispy’s bumper, where he went I went. Phew passed another one with no miss haps, round spoon and half way down the back straight, I just had enough to get past Chris, this is how it stayed for a few laps, we went past 3rd place and 2nd place, about lap 5 or 6 cant remember, we were now onto 1st place another S2000 from NL, he was good not fast but made him self larger than life on the track.

Down the home straight I pulled out of his draft (S2000) staying to the right as not to gain any advantage over Chris, into the esses with Chris hot on my tail, last turn in the esses the S2000 slowed I slowed but this caught Chris out and hit me and off I went.

But like a gent that he is waited for me to rejoin, I could see Chris holding back to give me time to clean my tires and recompose myself, what a sportsman, so now race on again. We soon caught up with 1st place S2000 again, still I could not get past clean, with Chris closing us down fast, concentrating hard on this S2000 guy from NL, not to hit him or get knocked off myself by him, I was unaware that Chris spun out at Denger, time and time again I tried to past this S2000 but each time he would beat me out the corners, so come the last lap I didn’t want to throw it away as the adrenalin was now pumping strong, hands were shaking on my controller so sat back and just hoped that Chris did not catch me before the line, if he had the race would have been his.

Chris if there is anything I left out please infill for me, you have to be one of the cleanest most sportsman ship races I’ve had the pleasure to race with.

Good luck to you in the rest of the event.

Phillip.

Winner GTP_Eriba.

Congrats man your pace is for D2:tup:
We raced all races in our group except with zippyuk :(

EDIT: Phill, I was writing this while you were posting yours, I just realised after I'd looked at the thread. I'd say you got it spot on there 👍

Here's my angle on a great race:

GTP_Eriba (Winner) vs GTP_Crispy74

Phillip started on pole, but I managed to get a good launch off the line get the lead into turn 1. I held the lead through the esses and all was going well until we came through the left hander on the way to the Degners, where we encountered half of the 9 car grid in a big cloud of smoke, either broadside across the track or eating gravel!! At first I thought the host had DC'd but looking in the rear view I could see Phill still going, weaving his way through carnage!!

Coming into 130R, Eriba had a run down the straight and made the move to take first position and lead into lap 2. Coming up through the esses, with me still in pursuit we caught the two leading cars who were running very close together, and coming through the left hander, Eriba took the second position car on the inside, who fortunately went wide and off!!

And then there was only the leader to deal with, who drove a very defensive line, and this resulted in the leading S2000, Eriba, and myself running very close together as Eriba was unable to pass the S2000, and I was unable to pass Eriba without it all resulting in all 3 of us coming off. Which is what nearly happened on lap 4 through the esses as, still behind Eriba at this point, the S2000 broke hard, as did Eriba...alas I didn't and sent my GTP tagged friend into the gravel trap with quite a thump!!

After letting Eriba back in front, we continued a very close race and coming out of Degner 2, he made a very small mistake which gave me a run towards the hairpin, but after getting two wheels on the grass I had to come off the throttle and pull in behind as braking at that point would have certainly sent me into him and taken us both off.

After exiting the hairpin we came across the S2000 again who was recovering to the track after what appeared to be a big 'off' at Spoon curve!

Cue 3 cars stuck very close together yet again, with Eriba still leading, it was nose to tail all the way until lap 7 when I succesfully managed to spin the car into the barrier under the bridge coming out of Degner 2!! Recovering onto the track some nutter in a Clio decided that he might like to use me as brakes into the hairpin but fortunately made a complete mess of this and went straight off...at speed 👍

With him out the way, I continued after Eriba who, judging by the track map was still having a nightmare with the S2000, and with this in mind I set about trying to close the 16 second gap. But I knew 16 seconds in 3 and a half laps was a tough ask, and it was as the race ended with me only having halved the gap to 8 seconds!!

Phillip drove absolutely brilliantly in this race, making no mistakes apart from the tiny slide out of Degner that allowed me to get alongside briefly, and thoroughly deserved the win. Well done and  for 7 laps of really great racing!

Very best of luck in you're next races Phill 👍

GTP_grevling9294 Tuned Vette (winner) v GTP_MobySPD Tuned Vette

Well, i think this can be short. Congrats to Grevling9294. He took the lead from the start and never gave it away during the 10 laps. Finished with a 4 second gap.

GTP_evo8doc (vette tuned) vs. GTP_Ren831 (vette tuned)

Evo8doc and I had our race with 3 other participants tonight. We let them pull away and started our race after 30s, evo from pole.

We started absolutely evenly towards 1st curve. Going into curve one I wanted to back off just a tiny bit to def avoid any contact, only to loose my rythem first thing and slingering through turn 2 in second gear, nearly spinning :ouch: , typically me I thought, watching evo disappear with good grip towards the sses.

I tried to zone in again and followed evo with a gap of several car lengths through the sses to see evo getting into trouble at dunlop. I had hit the apex into dunlop right and had full grip going up the hill, closing the gap. For an instant I thought about overtaking right then and there using the bit of excess speed I had but I let it be (experience taught me overtaking towards degner ususally ends in disaster, at least if I try that). We stuck close together til the backstraight where I slipstreamed past. Unfortunately can't remember how soon we came across the first other participant in a GTLM, but it was at the sses and I was lucky getting past without hassle on first attempt, the GTLM was really slow the moment I closed up to him. Evo must have caught up to him the unfortunate 2s too late and couldnt get past. This stayed that way for what felt like a loooong time, I opened up a big lead on the two. At this stage I thought about parking and restarting, because evo is fast and it was more than clear that the GTLM would decide the race as it was....

As I was thinking about the unglorious victory I was heading for and what to do someone else solved my dispute: an awfully slow ferrari! That guys was as wide on the track as he was slow, I was stuck behind for a whole lap or so, with evo (who had manged the GTLM in the meantime) was catching up BIG TIME. First I tried to overtake cleanly, not possible, had to back off again and again. With evo growig in my mirror I got desperate and tried harder, had a few light cotacts with the Ferrari. Dunno if the guy is really a punter or whether he just got grumpy with me, but he then started pro-actively pushing me into the gravel 2 or 3 times, but I could hold it together. Finally got past the f, and so did evo right behind me :scared:

So there we were again, close together on pos 1 and 2, by now in lap 8. With evo breathing down my neck I overcooked casio triangle, evo pulled of a clean overtake 👍
I could collect without huge damage and could stay behind evo8. His slipstream helped me get by again, leading again in lap 10. Again under severe pressure I unbalanced the Vette at spoon, loosing some speed and evo even tapped me slightly from behind (sorry, my bad), but we stayed on track down the backstraight, me still ahead. For a change I nailed 130r right and casio triangle as well and could rescue myself over the finishing line.

All in all it was a heated and fun race, unfortunately under big influence of other drivers, but as evo put it: that's how it can go in online racing.

Thanks for the race mate 👍 Looking foward to racing with you again!!!

Cheers
Heiko.

Winner: GTP_Ren831

Nice write up Heiko 👍

On the subject of the GTLM I caught him going in to dunlop he was all over the place didnt know what side to pass him.

Decided to go on his left but he came back across and made contact putting me into that square block that stops you dead :ouch:

As you can imagine there was quite a gap between me and Heiko now but I kept pushing and managed to close the gap after Heikos problems with the ferrari.

After pushing so hard to catch Heiko I managed to pass him approaching 130r only to cut the corner at casio and get a time penalty :dunce:

On the final lap Heiko ran wide going into spoon giving me a chance to go up the inside but I had to ease off due to us being side by side at the exit so I didnt punt Heiko off.

This gave heiko enough of a gap to maintain the lead to the finish.

Overall it was a fair race with the ferrari problems for Heiko cancelling out the time I lost to the GTLM

Great race Heiko congratulations 👍

GTP_redbullfix (Amuse S2000) v: GTP_Hydro (vette tuned)
GTP_redbullfix (Winner)

1st race of 2.
Another driver hosted, not GTP.
Hydro and I wait 30sec, but the other driver waited also...

This was actually a good close race, had a few bumps with hydro and other driver, but nothing to change positions.
I took the Holeshot but Hydro got bogged behind the other driver so after a lap I let Hydro through as he had pole position, and had cleared off from the other driver by this point.
I followed Hydro's bumper closely until lap 3 when I slid to a stop at Dunlop trying to correct from a slide. The other driver slipped past and I was in last.

With 10 secs to make up and 7 laps to do it I still felt confident as the split times were closing at more than a sec a lap.
About lap 6 something happened up front, and suddenly Hydro was only 3 secs ahead, the race was back on with 3 laps to go!

It didn't take long to reel in Hydro but he made it clear that a pass was going to be difficult, his Vette was faster on the straights so I couldn't draft and slip up along side for a pass, I tried many times, accidently bumping him a few times trying, but he was quick to block every move.
At this point my strategy was to run as close as possible and hope for a mistake. On the last lap on the 2nd Degner curve he cut it too tight and was penalized.
And that was it for Race #1

Race #2
We were both up for a 2nd race to see if we could have a clean run by ourselves, it worked perfectly as Hydro hosted just the 2 of us this time.

Hydro had Pole, but the S2000 was quicker off the line again, another Holeshot and that was it, Hydro stayed within site until lap 5 when he had to deal with some real life responsibilities.
Even though I felt the Amuse had more pace than Hydro's Vette, if he would have started in front, and without a mistake, I don't know if I could have made a clean pass.

Good racing with you Hydro.

My sincere condolences, kart racer. You have my sympathy.

Heavy times, Grant :( I wish you all the strength and energy you need to get you through them 👍

Sad news Kart racer, take your time to grieve. See you when your ready.

You have my deepest sympathies, kart racer. May God bless you.

We can't do anything else than withdraw you from the event. I hope we may welcome you again soon when you feel the time is right.

Take care.

Good racing with you too, Nice write up as well. I think that we were very much on the same pace, but I was faster in the straights (kept thinking you would pass me w/ slipstream).
It almost felt like a F1 race (the real ones), both fast, but tough to pass. First one through turn 1 wins!
Even without the unexpected interruption, you were ahead by 4-5 seconds (i blew the turn coming out of the esses on lap 1), and without you making a mistake, catching you would have been very difficult, nevermind passing.

Good racing. We will have to try again.

My condolences, Kartracer. As mentioned in PM, please take care, and I'm sure I speak for alot of drivers when I say Blessings to you and your family. From myself, and your GTP family.

I am sorry to hear about your loss Grant. Here's hoping that you have friends and family that will help get you through your time of grief.

GTP_Fuzzy (Winner) vs GTP_LinPark

The first race was the best 6 laps I've had ever had here in a GTP Event but unfortunately the host disconnected. Fuzzy and I had stayed close and exchanged the lead more times than I can remember in those 6 laps - all clean and smooth - even passing traffic went flawlessly - I remember one time we both passed a car at hairpin, me on the inside and Fuzzy on the outside without incident. Fantastic racing but we'll never know how that one was going to end. :(

I pinged drama-kyd in the chat and asked if he could join us because he usually hosts and I knew we could get this finished that way. He joined along with dranddad and a few others for us to try again.

Race 2 was a mirror opposite of our first try. At Dunlop on Lap 1, I made a horrible mistake. I punched the gas at the apex thinking I was in good shape and glanced away from the screen for just a fraction of a second. When I looked back I realized the backend had broken free and I was heading into the wall with Fuzzy fading off in the distance. Fuzzy was way out in front by the time I got things corrected. I did turn in 9.5 extremely good laps after that but there was no way I could've caught a driver of his level after such a rookie mistake like that.

Congrats to Fuzzy on the win!!! If you ever need a teammate for a competition or just want to put in some practice, please reach out to me - you are a class act sir and it would be my honor to race with you anytime!

After losses to both Theewar and Fuzzy, the time has come for me to say goodbye in this Event I believe. Good luck to all still competing and may the OLR Admins look very closely at you Div 2 folks that survived round 1 and promote you all to Div 1 at the end of this event to make room for us up-and-comers.

Thanks to the OLR Admin team and outstanding drivers here that keep me coming back to race day after day. 👍
