GTP_Stotty vs GTP_DramaKyd

Winner: GTP_Stotty

Small grid of 5... Dan (Hyperspeed) and a couple of untagged drivers.

DK started from pole and we had a smooth get away. We caught the 2 untagged drivers at the end of the esses on lap 2 - I assume they'd gone off somewhere to lose the 30 seconds head start in just 1 lap. A bit of a mele ensued (no contact, but lots of uncertainty as they battled eachother) and I managed to slip though in to the lead. Saw DK was having a bit of trouble with 1 of them, so I eased off until I saw he'd got through.

Then followed several laps of very close racing with passes on the front and back straight for position. Lap 5 (I think), DK lost it in to Casio (I saw him go off, but as I was leading at the time I couldn't tell how seriously). Over the line I had a 1.3 second lead, which wasn't quite enough to get away from him and he tracked me down by the end of the lap.

Another few laps of very close racing, again with overtakes in the usual places .

Going in to turn 1 on lap 8 Dk caught the grass on the left and slid off... enabling me to get a decent (3s + lead), which I managed to hold on to to the finish.

As always, a pleasure to race with DK... a very quick and clean driver 👍

Looked like a very close battle for 8 or so laps, well done chris, and unlucky DK, Chris is fast you know, he even beat holl01. ;)

Great wins for Chris, Phil, Maverick and T&L's Irish playboy, Theewar

Excellent competition so far this event, even more quality than event 02!

All the best

Racers - GTP_Mav3r1cK (Corvette) Vs GTP_Lagas (Corvette)
Track - Suzuka
Winner - GTP_Mav3r1cK

This was race 2 of week 3 for me, so I had perhaps a slight advantage having already run this race once this evening.

Before I go any further I just want to say a big thanks to Lagas for sticking with me during 5 or 6 failed connections. Frustrating was not the word, but I think we both got disconnected at some point - but eventually we managed to get together and with only 1 other car involved.

We got lined up on the grid, and I got a good start of the line and led down into turn one, the Ferrari California in front of me had seen that Lagas and I had stopped and restarted and decided he was going to join in the fun as well so he was roughly about 0.5 - 1 sec infront of me which was somewhat off putting but as the rules state - it's all fair in love and war !!

Throughout the first lap and a half Lagas remained 1-2 seconds behind me and was keeping a track on my rear bumper - slightly concerning for me as the Ferrari infront of me was quick on the straights but slower in the corners, meaning I was having to back off slightly to avoid overtaking him as I had no idea if he was going to rear end me in the braking zones. Meanwhile Lagas during lap 2 must have had a slight off, because the gap between us suddenly got significantly bigger and from that point on I knew all I had to do was keep the car on the track and drive it home for the win. I eventually got round the Ferrari after he had a slight off so I made a break for it, and manged to net my PB for Suzi in the Corvette at 1'57.421.

From there it was plain sailing until the final lap and the 130R turn where I was trying just a bit too much and spun out completly all over the place - LMAO. Still, I recovered and got sheepishly over the line as quickly as possible :dunce:

All in all a real pleasure to race with you Jorge - and once again thanks for the great communication which aloud us to eventually race 👍

What a load of rubbish!!!!!!!! That is the most pathetic thing i have ever heard

You cant single me out just because theres a video, in fact, you cant even prove there was contact!!!!!

This is totally unfair, and complete BS

Your not helping Manuelos here as we will now both get kicked out of the event

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG7KNbBxrGQ

This video is from hyperspeed and manuelos race in the 599s, i haven't watched the whole race but even on the first lap they make contact with other cars, but they didnt wait??? they dont get DQd???? and why should they wait? Not one single person in this whole competition is going to wait for a random to re-join! Because none of us are retarded apes who want to forfeit our whole race on the off chance that EDK will have a cry and DQ them. Im seriously pissed, you have absolutely no solid reason for doing this.

quoted from manuelos after the race:

Good racing mate
Pitty from those 2 other drivers, after passing them I was 4s behind and I knew it would be very difficult catching you. After that I went 3 or 4 times off road

He didnt see any problem? and the contact with this other car had no affect on our race! Manuelos still had my draft afterwards, what lost him the race was getting held up by the corvette and then going off the track by himself

congratulations 👍 great race, just tough luck what happened to me on lap 8 lets see if we can even the score in round 2 (if i make it to round 2 that is) :)

I think you'll find that most of the guys and girls here would wait. Just because a driver isn't using a tag doesn't mean they deserve any less respect than one that does. They are just as entitled to a clean, punt free race as anybody, tagged or not.

By signing up to the registry, driving with a GTP tag and taking part in an official GTP competition, you agreed to race by the rules. You can't really complain when action is taken against you for not racing by those rules.

Matt.

I'm not singling you out because of the video. I'm also relying on the fact that you admitted to the contact here in the thread, in front of all of the other racers who are participating in the event, and then in the PM to me. The video simply backs all of that up.

Did you happen to notice how that other driver came to be in front of them? He drove onto the racing line from the over run While Hyperspeed was turning in, already committed to the turn.

In regard to returning to the track following an incident -

OLR Rules and Guidelines
14: Recovering from an incident:

A:
It is the responsibility of the driver recovering from any incident to take all necessary care to not interfere with any cars still on the track and not part of the incident. A relevant incident may include, but not limited to -

  • Being spun out
  • Facing the wrong way,
  • Perpendicular to the track
  • Going abnormally slow for where you are on the track.
  • Getting penalized for any amount of time by the penalty system

If you are off the track then the rules on "Re-entering to the track after running off" apply.

B:
In the event that your car turns to a 'ghost car' you assume the responsibility of avoiding hazards at all costs, refer
to 13-B.

15: Re-entering to the track after running off:

A:
It is the responsibility of the car returning to the track to ensure there are no collisions so that no other drivers have to maneuver or brake suddenly to allow you to resume racing. If there's a chance of a collision, wait and be patient as other drivers have the right of way.

B:
An off track incident includes:

  • Being stuck or pinned to a wall or railing.
  • More than two tires leaving the track at any one time
  • Any situation where the car may lose control and create cross traffic

C:
Do not reverse back onto the track unless it is necessary. If you are backing up away from a wall first look around you to avoid a collision and as the collision would be your fault.

D:
Re-enter the track parallel to the road, slowly and gently, and always with great care. This gives you the best opportunity to see what’s coming up the track behind you, and it also gives drivers coming up on you the best chance to orientate themselves to your situation.

You clearly are not familiar with our OLR rules and guidelines. First, it doesn't mention anything about "randoms". Those are not "randoms", thay are other racers. While driving with the GTP_Tag, you represent GTPlanet and the GTP_Registry. We expect you adhere to the rules, even moreso while running in an official GTP_Event.

Now, there are my reasons for doing this.

If you have further issues with this ruling, take them up in PM. If you'd rather not deal with me on it, take it up with one of our other GTP_Race Admins who are available at this time -

Sjaak68
Hugo Boss
Vaxen
Jack

I'm up against ZippyUK but he doesn't reply to my comms ... please get in touch soon mate?

Please delete me from the GTP registry thanks 👍

Joining the ranks of the "Randoms" eh?

For me, that is the issue, right there.

Unfortunately, GTP - tagged drivers have a bad name in certain other forums. This is the attitude that's done it for us. As EDK has pointed out - they are not "randoms", and they have equal rights to track space as we do.

My 2p

Matt.

Absolutely 100% agree, and those rules and code by which you wear this tag apply to every competition you take part in on GTP, be it an event race that doesn't involve non-tagged drivers sharing a track with you or WRS, where you don't just throw in splits, do laps online, not submit and generally not take the competition or respect for your peers very seriously.

I'm thoroughly pleased Manuelos recorded this race because if anyone else was thinking they could get away with whatever they want simply because they don't 'know' the public drivers involved, and they feel they own the track for 20 mins because of an organised race, they'll think again.

All the best

LOL, either of you could have won, and you know it. :) Sub par my ass. 👍

i dont want to make things worst but it seams that in the hyperspeed vs manuelos video
the contacts are similar to tizzla vs manuelos video... its not right bumping others in any case i agree, but its unfair to DQ tizzla and not Dan as the contacts are the same and Dan made 2 at least for what i've seen...

You think so huh?

Wrong, I was the one being pushed, not the one doing the pushing. :yuck:

I've never seen Div.1 so magnificently divided before. Can't wait for my race tomorrow.:D

You're wrong.

Have another look.

The driver in the lap 1 incident on the other video should not be returning to the track in front of traffic. I already addressed it in this post.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3436666&postcount=278

The incident at the end of lap 2 with the Clio, Dan says the Clio initiated contact. Any solid evidence refuting that? Difficult for me to tell from the position Manuelos was in at the time.

Anything further? Address it in PM, I'm done with the public mudslinging.

Great.

I think Tizzla is a little bit wild, but I personally don't think he should have been DQ'd for that. The video is so hard to make out, it could possibly look like he turned into Tizzla...when a GTP/tagged member might have noticed this?

I can't help but feel this is 100% the wrong decision that will give a much worse outcome, than if it had just been a big slap on the wrists and re-run?

For what it's worth, me and Tizzla are not what I'd consider friends. It's just that I know I've ended up in situations on the circuit, where I'm much faster than a wreckless newbie infront of me and have gone up the inside and *PUNT* they're in the sand. I know I was not in the wrong, but I still hit them...I'm not going to wait for them, when it was their fault.

Meh, anyway...Tizzla you're not helping the situation. Go take a cold-shower and rethink your decision.

EDIT:

I'm not mudslinging BTW. Not trying to stir or anything. I'm always one for supporting those who have the least support, because numbers don't always prove what's right or wrong, good or bad etc. I mean...look at Abba FFS!!! :D

Any further discussion regarding the decision is to be in private.

Don't make me start handing out warnings or infractions.

I'll do whatever you tell me to, EDK.

I've replied to your PM. I'm only asking EVERYONE to keep this thread focused on the event and remaining races.

The Tizzla issue is done. He asked to be removed from the registry, he's no longer in the Registry or the event. So further discussion regarding that specific issue is counter-productive and a moot point.

We appreciate everyone's support of the event. 👍

Div 2 PAL Group 1
GTP_Synwraith vs GTP_Animera

We met on the track at the chosen time and had quite a full grid, with a few GTP spectators. Maz started from pole and led into turn 1, with me following. I passed on the back straight but Maz immediately passed me back down the main straight. I followed him through lap 2 and decided to hang back down the back straight to get a pass down the main straight. Maz was having none of this, and we went 2 wide into turn 1, not touching, where I had to settle to follow Maz again as he got a better drive out of the turn.

And so it continued lap after lap. We caught and passed another racer around lap 4 or 5 and continued our close battle, neither getting a lead on the other. At the end of lap 8, I was leading into Casio and saw Maz make a tiny mistake that gave me a very small lead, and I thought this is my chance to try pull away. Again Maz was having none of it and drove a brilliant lap to chase me down.

On to the last lap with me leading and the 2 of us catching 3rd place. I decided to follow him as he was reasonably fast, with Maz on my tail. Going into Dunlop the 3rd place driver ran a little wide and I got a run up his inside going into Degner. Maz followed me and ran a little wide to give the 3rd place guy some room. This caused him to run wide through Degner 2 and that gave me a 3s gap till the end of the lap.

Thank you Maz for an amazing race!!
Good luck with the rest of the event. 👍

You were superb and faultless, a thoroughly deserving winner

I'm really glad I gave you a good race and the guy we came across was very fair in trying not to interfere, the error was mine.

I'm sure when I get over the disappointment a bit, it'll sink in what an absolutely cracking race that was

Congratulations mate :)

All the best
Maz

Maz and Animera, that looked to be a really great battle. 👍

Dont be to upset Maz, there can only be one winner, and you put up a damn good fight mate.

Congratulations  to Animera, and commiserations Maz 👍
Coming up on the wrong end of these races is never fun, but it sounds
like you gave Animera--clearly a Division 1 caliber driver--everything he wanted and then some. Nothing to hang your head over Maz. Sounds like it was a really great battle.

Congrats to GTP_Sauber-F1 for beating me in our race!👍 The race was not to eventful, had traffic which Sauber got around quicker then i. He almost gave race away at the corner, before the back straight. I didn't see, but he must have went off. So with that happening, the gap was only about a second or so at the end of the race. Otherwise i think it probably would have been a 10 second gap at the end of the race.
:sly:👍

P.S. I think i need to pack my bags for Division 3!

Well done Animera and Synwraith on the incredible battle you had.

Edit: GTP_Paulie (Paulie) vs GTP_TheDoctor46 (GTP_Deathwalker)

I started in pole and as has proven true in every race so far my good first gear helped me lauch down to turn 1 rather comfortably in 1st place. The race then turned in to a complete dog fight constantly changing positions, putting on pressure, running bumper to bumper side to side the whole way with only one or 2 light taps that had no effect on our cars really. Running into turn 1 on lap 9 Deathwalker ran wide, and I thought I'd won, but he was back on my tail again by the run to the esses. On lap 10 coming on to the run to the esses we both realised we wouldn't make it before the timer which just started ran out. At this time I was on his bumper, I drafted and he defended into the esses, I went for an overtake around the outside and there was some more light contact. Coming out of the esses I slowed just a little to re-address without losing too much ground. I tried a few criss-crosses in the final corners which didn't work (almost though). I was drafting him right on his bumper having got a better exit out of the final turn, but we only got a hundred or 2 metres up the straight when the timer ran out on our race with Deathwalker still in the lead. 5 seconds was all I needed, maybe less, and I must admit I'm very disappointed to have lost on this technicality, but that's the rules, and we both raced exceptional races, well done Deathwalker.

GTP_Fuzzy-Amuse S2k v GTP_zed300-Corvette/Tuned

This was a bit of a fizzer, as I went wide in Denger 1 on the 1st lap handing Fuzzy the flag.

Fuzzy was at least a second a lap faster anyway, so it wasn't much of a contest for him.

I was only able to run flat 1'58's, but the rubber band broke too early to have any chance of putting any challenge up.

Thanks Fuzzy, all the best in the coming races.
