No pit stop, you're right Kevin. I don't know what made me think we had to do a pit stop. Well, we did wait 30 seconds at the start, and we both pitted, so I guess it worked out okay? Can't believe I didn't notice that.

EDIT:

I just spoke with Alexi in the race chat, and he wants to do a re-run of this race.
I know I wouldn't be happy if I lost a race and then found out we didn't have to do pit stops
after all. We were both under the impression that there was a mandatory pit stop.
We will re-run the race tomorrow hopefully.

Seems like my opponent won't be racing me this week now.:( I sincerely hope he has cleared it up with our group steward EDK. Does this mean I am counted as a bye for this week as well and must now race at a different time?

GTP_Stotty v GTP_DHolland

Winner: GTP_Stotty

Late run of wk 1 race due to problems hooking up last week.

Small grid with a couple of non-tagged drivers and GTPer's for company.

Dan led from pole into turn 1 and he slid slightly wide of the 2nd apex... this caught me out a bit as I was committed to the inside, and as he came back on line (rightfully his) I tapped his rear. I immediately eased off thinking I'd knocked him off, but he made a great save and shot off. I then had to work really hard to get back on his bummper, but thanks to a good exit from the hairpin and a strong tow up to Spoon I was back on him by 130r.

We then had 6 really close laps, with the lead changing hands several times. Only mishap was on lap 3, when some idiot in a Clio was parked up on the 1st apex of Spoon. I was leading and I managed to swerve round him, but I think Dan saw him too late and hit him. On the way up to 130r I noticed Dan wasn't behind me, so I eased off through to the exit of Caiso until he'd caught back up.

I led on the 6th lap and I noticed in my mirror that Dan was pretty sideways coming out of the hairpin. I'd got a really clean exit so I ended up with quite a decent gap. I made sure I ran a smooth fast Spoon, and by then the draft was broken, with a gap of 1.8s at T2.

From there, the gap remained pretty much constant... drifting up to 2.3s, then back down to 1.8... I have to admit I was pretty nervous over those 3-4 laps; just one small mistake and Dan would have easily caught my draft and been back on me.

But towards the end of lap 9 I noticed the gap had shot up and I think Dan went off at Degner.

Cruised the final lap about 2 seconds slower than usual just to make sure I didn't park it way off track in the sand.

Thanks for the race Dan.

Fantastic victory Chris, you're a superstar mate and a gentleman on the racetrack as we've always known

All the best
Maz

I was preve enough to watch this epic battle :) I was sitting at turn one to see how they faired comming off the straight. Great stuff, some back and forth early on and the intensity and focus of the drivers was felt.

Great job Strompy :sly: 👍

I think that was the first time I was purposely rooting against ya Dan..... Classy performance though all the same and you still got it. Steller show.

wow

 for the win Chris
Erik

Hey Chris mate, thanks! This means a lot to me. Well as long as 'where to place your car to ...' doesn't mean block the passage :D

Haha, no I didn't mean block the passage, I just meant you defended your line really well 👍

GTP_Alexi vs. GTP_CarlPKY Race 2

Winner: GTP_CarlPKY

This morning, Alexi and I met to re-run our race from yesterday evening.
We were lucky to be matched with a relatively small field of about 4 other cars I think. I had trouble getting to my P1 grid spot on time, so Alexi was off with a lead heading into turn 1. He lead for about the first 4.5 laps, and then I got a good run on him coming out of the final turn heading onto the main straight and passed him at the beginning of lap 5. at the end of lap 6 we caught up with traffic, and we managed to navigate through them cleanly, although I think Alexi couldn't manage to get by the second place car, so I maintained a gap of about 3 seconds until the end. I should also give credit to the other drivers we raced with, they could have given us trouble on several occasions but they were clean and sportsmanlike
thank goodness.

Thanks again to Alexi, and I'm glad we had a chance to re-run our first race (sans the pit stop FAIL :dopey: ) Everything went smoothly this time, and Alexi was a true sportsman again. Good to have been able to run a clean race with the correct protocols this time 👍

And  to Stotty on an outstanding and well-deserved win 👍

I was fortunate to spectate on the GTP_Stotty v GTP_DHolland race this morning, my vantage point being the hairpin.
It was a close-run race until about lap 7, with Stotty pulling a slight gap which he maintained to the end.
Good race guys 👍, and well done Chris for the win. 👍👍

GTP_Cohiba100 vs GTP_zed300

We hooked up on the first try. A small grid that gave us no real trouble at all during the race.

We took off with Zed300 in the lead. I followed on the first lap and passed on the straight. Zed300 followed me around and passed me on the straight. This was in fact the case during the whole race. The lead changed on the straight on every lap. I may possibly have been a tad quicker but never quick enough to break the slipstream. Starting the tenth lap it was me in second. I had made som tests in earlier laps to see if it was possible to be second out of the final corner and still manage to draft your way to the lead before the finish line and found that it was possible. The only problem was that Zed300 seemed a bit quicker around the final two turns so I knew I really had to push to be close enough coming out on the straight. My opponent must have felt the same thing I did so he pushed really hard through Dunlop and 13:th but I managed to stay on his tail. Coming through Netz he was just a little to quick on the throttle and got it seriously sideways. I was at that time so close that I had no chance of avoiding him when he sverved across the track in front of me and I hit him in the side. I didn't really know what to do next. He had lost it all by himself and there was no chance at all that he would have been able to reach me even if I had not hit him but still. I decided to wait and when he joined again on the final straight we made a halfhearted run to the line ending in a win for me with some tenths. In the chat afterwards I offered a re-race but Zed300 declined on the grounds that he had lost it by himself and my tap did not change the outcome of the race.

It was a great 9,75 laps with a little sad ending. Thanks Zed300 for a nice race. You are a gentleman on and off the track. Apologies for being a bit curt in the chat but as I said I had a very angry three year old boy screaming in my ear for the last two laps saying that he wanted to see his racing cars (the Pixar movie Cars)

Cohiba100 V zed300

Cohiba100 on pole.

zed300 launched from the inside lane, gaining enough to take the honours through turn 1. He maintained a margin of about 0.5 sec for the rest of the lap.

Cohiba100 took the lead just after the line, and led lap 2, till a zed300 passed at the beginning of lap3. Racing got a little tighter, after a couple of laps feeling out the opposititon. Lap times came down over the next 3 laps. A Corvette had drifted back and became a little bit of a hazard on lap 6, they both came through unscathed and had clear track ahead.

It seemed Cohiba100 was quicker in the 1st half of the circuit and zed300 was slightly faster in the second, so it was going to come down to the wire. zed300 was leading at the end of lap7 and had a slightly larger gap than on previous laps, as Cohiba100 was unable to make a pass. zed300 put in a good first 2 turns and opened up a 0.75? lead , then got a little sideways in the long right hander, Cohiba100 was right back on his bumper, and consequently took the lead as they passed over the line.
It was apparent that only a few hundreths was going to be the difference.
Cohiba100 lead lap9 and they did the usual pass across the line, zed300 led and was clean through the long right this time. After passing through sector2, the gap increased to 3-4 tenths? through the next3 turns, then as zed300 approaches the 2nd last turn the backend brakes loose and he holds sideways on the entry, can he hold on,exiting spears the back around more, and he starts to move across the track. All of a sudden he looking at the wall quickly grabs reverse and gets going. Realizing it is all over he cruises through the final turn, as he exits, he sees Cohiba100 cruising also. They accelerate together and Cohiba100 crosses the line 0.081 ahead of zed300.

We both were in Live Racing Chat, so we discussed, I didn't know he had hit me, but I was going to be slow if I had caught the car.
Cohiba100 kindly offered a rerun, but I declined as I had made the mistake and would not(I believe) have been quick enough to challenge for the win, had I been able to correct the car before being hit.

Thank you for the race Cohiba100, hope to see you on the road soon.👍

EDIT no apollogy needed, I have 2 sons they like "CARS" too:D

GTP_Davey07-O37 v GTP_Twisted

Good race. I was the eventual winner..Started well. I got the jump after 30 seconds and got into the first corner first. Then Twisted got me in the draft on the straight. I kept close and we started to close on traffic. The yellow corvette wasnt a problem, but the clio was not very cooperative at all. First twisted went off at the chicane, then a lap or 2 later, the clio wacked me up the backside and I went of at the chicane too:yuck::yuck:. Managed to stay ahead for the remainder off the race behind that crazy clio to win.

Thanks Twisted for a really good race, apart from the daft clio getting in our way....:)👍👍

GTP_Sauber-F1 vs GTP_Synwraith
Winner: GTP_Synwraith

We were lucky enough to join at the first time of asking with Sauber-F1 as the host, and GTP_Fairplay_pls, GTP_Hyperspeed and GTP-DukeOfPendle as spectators with two other cars, so it looked good. Thank you very much to all who attended to watch the race

I started in P2 but managed to edge ahead into turn 1, and Sauber all throughout the race was very respectful of my line into the corner as leader. The first 4 or 5 laps consisted of me leading most of the lap, Sauber gaining a lot of time at the chicane, me pulling a very small amount in T3 then Sauber catching up again on the long straight. He had far superior straightline speed to me. On some occasions he would inch ahead before turn 1 but I would usually get him back beofre the turn 1 exit. Some extremely clean and fair driving.

Then of course the inevitable happened. We reached a Clio and a WRX (weapons of choice for muppets), and all sorts of hassle ensued. Bumping in corners, those cars trying to take you on the inside of every corner in T3 ...yeah you know the one! I saw my chance as one of them ghosted just before the main straight on about lap 6 and passed both on the straight. Sauber got a great tow from them also and was flying down the straight but he went straight at turn 1. I think maybe he missed his braking point.

After that I had a 4 to 5 second lead built by the end of the race and Sauber had to get past the CLio and WRX before he had any clean air. I was able to run much better laps in clean air but unconsciously took my foot off the pedal earlier, got on the gas a little more softly etc on the final laps and ended up going from mid/low 1'43s to low 44s.

Thank you to Sauber for agreeing to race so late in the day for him and for being a great and clean competitor. The absolute best of luck to you in the remainder of the Event 👍

All the best
Maz

Well done Maz, was a great race to watch. You can take those G25 L plates off now buddy. :P 👍

Better luck next time Sauber.

GTP_d3b34k5, I still have not heard from you so we can get our race in.
Anyone know his other ID for GTP?

Commiserations Sauber, congrats Synwraith.

Great race report, the very best of luck to you both in upcoming event 03 races.

Phillip.

Thanks for the report Maz 👍
And of course for the great race last night (at least till lap 6 :( )

...and Sauber all throughout the race was very respectful of my line...

Well, once I missed my braking point completely in the hairpin and just managed to miss you with pure dumb luck. :)

...I saw my chance as one of them ghosted just before the main straight on about lap 6 and passed both on the straight. Sauber got a great tow from them also and was flying down the straight but he went straight at turn 1. I think maybe he missed his braking point.

However I didn't miss my braking point in this situation. If anything I braked to early and got hit by one of thoese other cars.
But I blame myself. I have to know that braking hard in a corner is a very bad idea with an unknown car right behind you.
We agreed before the race to rerun if there were any punters. But these two guys weren't deliberate punters, but just unable drivers. And they are a well known part of the game.

Congratulations Maz and good luck for the following races 👍
 Sauber

GTP_ASH332 vs GTP_PASM
Winner: GTP_PASM

First we decided to race at xx.25, and I was hosting the race, but ASH didn't get placed on the grid. Shame, because It was only me and GTP_Toivonen at that point who were on the grid.

Second try it all went smooth and we synced up into a race with 3 other drivers (non-GTP). We waited 30 seconds and off we were! Ash got a good run into T1 from second place, but we both were conservative and I got out of T1 with a slight lead. I noticed Ash had shorter gears and was revving quite high. During the rest of the lap I extended the lead a bit, but not enough to break the slipstream. By the end of the straight in lap 2, Ash was right on my bumper again. That repeated itself in lap 2 and 3. When I made a mistake in lap 4, Ash was able to get the lead. Fighting my way back to Ash, I noticed we were catching onto a NSX. By the end of lap 6 I closed the gap and we were right on that NSX's tail. We both drafted by him and continued our race. The next lap was just like the start of the race. In lap 8 we caught up with a Mine's Skyline. I managed to draft past him, but Ash got stuck behind him for a few corners. I didn't see what happened exactly, but Ash lost a lot of time there and I extended my lead in the last two laps. After the race I asked Ash if he had any trouble with the Mine's Skyline, but he said that I deserved the win.

Thanks Ash for the race. Well driven 👍 Too bad we didn't get to battle it out until the end... Good luck to you in the next week! :)

Thanks to all for the kind words, congratulations to Bart. Best of luck in the remaining rounds to you ASH32 👍

All the best
Maz
