So if I understand it right, is it going to be like gold, where say you submit 1'10.000 and you've got a 1.500 handicap it means your time would be adjusted to 1'08.500?

Sorry if its the "obvious" question or if I've missed something somewhere :)

From what I understand No,

(Vaxen feel free to correct me) If you have a handicap of 1.7 (D1Bronze) and yet you finish amongst guys with 1.2 (D1 Gold) your handicap for next week may be reduced to 1.55. Keep up the strong results finishing amongst guys with 1.2 and finally your handicap will drop to 1.2/3. Once your handicap is consistently at that level you will be promoted into the appropriate division that corresponds, which in this example is D1 Gold.

Ok, that makes much more sense...thanks:tup:

All the WRS organisers have achieved a D1 Gold time for release of the Registry rankings, and your handicap is 0.001 (seriously, you couldn't have done it 3mins sooner?:sly:), so well done guys.👍
Congrats to all participants, even you guys in D5. Particular mentions to Nicko for his no.1 time, you deserve it for the amount of effort you've been putting in to your driving, and to all the Trans Tasman Racing guys, I think all of us who submitted are Div.1?
I'm really stoked with D1 Silver, it means I've improved from being the worst of the best drivers that I was in Prologue, but I'll never make alien status so that means I'm stuck here. I suppose I should ask the organisers a question now. In previous versions of WRS you could only be demoted if you asked to be and provided reasonable evidence you didn't belong in that division. With the handicap system now doesn't that mean if you're not performing you'll instantly be demoted once your handicap reaches the next level below? If that is the case, will it be like a golf handicap, where it's easier to improve it than it is to drop it?

I'm satisfied that I made it to that level since I HATE SECTOR TWO!! :yuck:

Going to have fun working my way up through the ranks and prove I can drive around corners, not just in a straight line. 👍

Goos to see you finally in the WRS, and yes, you have much to prove about the corners thing Mr Toretto.:sly: Nah, I jest.:P

Ah,ok...didn't read how the handicap works properly... :guilty:

Anyways,i am relieved to make it into Div1... :)

Mate, even with a broken wheel (as I understand it?) you were never a doubt for D1 you speed maniac you.:sly:

Good job to all who submitted. And thanks to the race admin too.. I was shocked but pleased to qualify in D1 gold. :D

Shocked? Haven't you always had greenish skin?:D

Rather surprised to be in D1 gold... I was hoping to make D1 silver and not be under so much pressure to produce top times every week!

Great work to get the results up so quickly 👍

Oh, and great time at the top there Nicko 👍

Oh well too bad, now you're expected to be within 0.1sec of the best time every week, or at least never be beaten by anyone from Silver.:sly:

EDK
Events will still start on Sundays. There are a few factors outside of our control that I'm not going to get into, but the first race should be up by no later than February 13th.

I've just ordered today some new potentiometers for my G25 from the UK, so I doubt I'll make it to round 1 since I expect them to take a while to get here then I need to find the time to get the electrician guy to fit them since I don't trust myself.:)

D3-silver upto D2-bronze, im happy with that.

I was far from sandbagging, but other than the practise in Golding the events i don't think i had much more than an hour on each event.

I'd be interested to know how much time people spent to achieve their results..

A huge thanks to the organisers, did not expect to see the list so early! Panicked slightly when I couldn't find my name, turns out I should have looked a little higher up the list :dunce: (I know about Ctrl+F before anyone says...) Gold sounds much better than bronze IMO. Whether I'll be able to compete is another question, currently unable to use my wheel as the pedals are aggravating a running injury :grumpy: would love to know who else used a 180deg wheel and how they got on.

Congrats to Nicko for quickest time, good to see names old and new at the sharp end.

Time to go update my sig...

Great, made it into Div 3 Silver on my first entry into the WRS. Those guys at the top sure are fast as I feel I put in some very good laps as well. So much room to improve still haha.

Is there any way of viewing the replays of the fastest times? I would love to see them to understand where I can go faster.

Cheers.

Sad thing is that it's true. I put on an alien costume when I come into a room when you guys are racing and pray I'm not overtaken by all of you by the 4th corner!! :D:lol:

Those replays won't be available, as it would give an advantage to those who run the qualifier when the registry window re-opens.

Ah ok, that makes sense. How about the regular events, will replays be posted after each event has finished?

Forgive me because I havnt been apart of WRS for a while, but normally the top 3 or so is required from each Division and others are randomly requested.

But I would say you could ask any racer for their replay and they will provide it 👍

Hi fellow country man... :)

What you can also do is go online and look for some races being held at the Nordschleife in simular cars...that way you can learn ideal lines pretty quickly by chasing "faster" guys... 👍

Look for them in the lounge,or look at the online subforum in the GT5 section... 👍👍

Cool, thanks for the answers. Let's first get on with the first event then and see if I am able to get some decent times in :)

Hi fellow city man even ;) Sounds like Top Gear Top Tip, thanks, I'll be sure to try that out!

Better remove those times quick smart boy.

I'd get rid of those times ASAP otherwise you'll have people take advantage of the situation, using your time as a base for knowing what division they can wind up in. I made this mistake in GT4 trying to use someone else's times for my benefit (they put up their time but took it down, but not before I saw it and wrote the times down and found out he was a D2 Silver driver) and wound up being banned from the GT4 WRS as a result because I tried to take advantage of the rules.

*added bit* I'm reporting the post, but only for that reason so that the times are removed ASAP!!

*facepalm*

DON'T QUOTE HIS TIMES SPY!!! Please please please mate, edit the quote, like Paulie did. :)

I just had another look on the list and somehow I think I've over-achieved despite only putting in a WRS' worth of effort in. Guys like PASM, EL_ZISSOU and Fastas I've never been as fast as (no pun intended), and I've raced PASM online since GT5 came out and although it's still pretty close, I'd say he was just that little bit faster. I suppose it doesn't matter, I'd be D1 anyway against the same guys regardless, just thought I'd throw that out there- I'm probably not as good as my rank here suggests.:sly:

+1 To that!!!

Edit: Nice team effort Mafs and Maz.👍

i may be wrong, but i assume it would 'generally' be difficult or unlikely that the top times can be run consistently, lap after lap - that seems to be the case from my experiences in online races with players that are good at qualifying.

Does anyone know of a driver who can put in mind blowing times, lap after lap?

Most of the division 1 guys? You have to remember, D2-D5 people can't run their quali laps lap after lap either. You'll find that D1 guys can consistently get a very high pace very quickly, but nobody can run their absolute best lap every lap. Don't believe me? Ask mafia_boy what it's like in a race with a bunch of Division 1 drivers.:sly:

is there a replay available on youtube maybe of a 'mad fast' lap on GT5. I remember those replays ( the top 3 etc) on the leaderboards in Prologue. They somehow didnt look natural - the use of curbs etc to keep corner speed etc. To me, it seemed that a real life lap like that would be unlikely. I havent seen one of those replays in GT5 with its new physics.:)

anyone seen a vid like this please post a link:tup:

Division 5 Gold..... Well I have to start somewhere I suppose.....:):):)

I have been a big fan of the game since GT1 though more of a casual driver then anything else, this is my first attempt at any sort of competitive racing so I am happy enough with that.

I agree with this 100%

I've driven the Nordschleife in real life and if you even try and get a fraction of the curb required to excel in the qualifier you'll be spit out and slammed into the armco

Reality is that those curbs we seem to glide over, feels like your hitting an unmountable curb in real life...and dont get me started on the carousel...the poor Megane R26R I drove got its front lip completely eaten by it

Thats why Kazunori said in that video of the road to Nurburgring 24hr that in real life you must deduct roughly 5% off your time to get a true depiction of where you will be...I'd say even more...you might think the force feedback is too much for your poor hands...try 200km/h over that bumpy road...a stiffly sprung car is unsettled constantly...it felt like the megane was doing the funky chicken...

Did manage a 8:32 though...:)

You do whatever you need to do to go as fast as possible, if you can get away with taking a curb you would if you can't you don't. Why are people always jealous of the fast guys ? I embrace them and try to learn from them and that makes me understand everything better, game or real life. My understanding of the physics of driving is slowly getting better, gradually. The minute I start saying in effect 'ah well I could go as fast as that if it were a real car, they ain't being real..' is when I stop learning.

Hence my alien suit comment from earlier. :sly: I was cheering when I came 4th amongst you guys @ nordschlife! So people, you might be D3 Silver like me but you can still run along & mix it with the best, don't think you can't because if I can do it with my crappy driving skills, you can too!!

Wow Great news finally made my dream to reach D2,thanks for the chearing with the stuff going on here nice to finally smile

Believe me, I definately praise the fast guys, as I know I will probably never get to those times, just saying that in the end it is still a game and we are able to push the boundaries further than possible in reality...:)
