They mostly all use bumpercam, and witch-craft
Interesting, I've always felt I was faster with hood/roof camera. Just something about seeing the edges of the car.
As for the witchcraft that makes lots of sense.

Well... it's very easy to point a gun at the cashier at the liquor store, too. Are you going to do that?
No, but lots of people do.
Do the higher division drivers use mostly bumper cam to get those quick times?
Obviously practice (seat time) is important too?
Just wondering eh
Only questions I have is this: given that all of this is very well planted in statistical analysis, I'm worried that some of the very, very fast guys didn't bother to submit for this qualifier. I haven't gone back and looked at pure numbers but I see people like Timo, Maz, Carl, Timeattack, etc that didn't participate. Forgive me because my background isn't in statistics, but wouldn't their lack of particpation skew the "theoretical" fastest time as well as the overall standard deviation to the point where a good number of us ended up in divisions above where we should be?
I run roof cam. I dislike the amount of movement in bumper cam and cockpit view feels disconected (strange as I spent years racing cockpit view in pc sims.) I also find roof cam can see over cars in front which makes it easier for me to race. But sadly with no rearview mirror it also makes it hard lol.Do the higher division drivers use mostly bumper cam to get those quick times?

As am i, using a DS3 too, i think that's fair game for my first shot at WRS.i'm in division 3 silver with a DS3, i think that aint bad!
I am comfortable in cockpit view (unless its raining-I'll switch to roof cam); I usually let other drivers know so that they know I do have blind spots (mics help there too!)Sureboss
I use chase cam for learning circuits. Once I've got it grained in to memory, I switch to bumper cam.
I'll use cockpit cam on Endurances, just to have something else to look at. After about 2-3 hours I can just about match bumper cam times.
Just do what's comfortable to you. I wouldn't say any one camera is quicker than the other, we will all have slight preferences. I think close racing is easier in bumper cam to remain clean.
Great to see so many submissions, and I can't wait to get mine there too.
I can honestly say, without any doubt, that I'm the lousiest driver in Div 1.
As long as you don't touch the grass at the exit of parabolica i am sure you will be fine Timo...
It's been too long since i raced many of you online, was good to see you there Timo, and i hope many of the fast guys who didn't submit yet, will do so in the future and will race online aswell... 👍👍

The handicap system is a new tool for us, and we're not sure exactly how it will work out, so bear with us as we figure it out.
As with earlier versions of the WRS, you won't be dropped a division unless you request it.
Your handicap will adjust over time, but whether it moves when you are promoted, at each promotion interval (roughly every 3 months), or every week is yet to be determined.
For Prologue, we had one list for division results, and another for overall results. For GT5, we'll be adding a third which takes handicap into account somehow. I'm still working out the details. Whether this appears in the Leader Boards is yet to be determined.
Fixed that for you Paulie, I actually thought I was quicker than you for a moment.

I can only dream of joining them someday on top that mountain. 👍

I'm the same as you mate. (just changed my sig to match) Cockpit cam all the way! Even in rain! Dont really care if different views are quicker, cockpit cam is the most realistic by far. Use it everywhere... a spec, online, WRS.. I sometimes use chase cam, but only if I'm taking a car out to take photos of. So that doesnt really count.
I enjoy using the cockpit view, and have been known to drive around the 'Ring, in the rain, in the dark, with all the aids turned off (incl ABS), and all the on-screen displays off. It's a very immersive experience, with only the actual car gauges to go on, you have to think about the gears more (if you're in a car that has no gear number indicator), and of course use physical markers for braking points. It's the closest to driving a real car on track I can manage in GT5.
However, for chasing a good time I tend to switch to bumper cam, as I used it through GT3 and GT4 and I'm kind of used to it, even though I can get quite close times with the cockpit view.
Of course I forgot to mention that.. For the ultimate cockpit experience I always turn the HUD off and set the POV to narrow. Sometimes when racing online I put the HUD back on to keep an eye on my sectors, but otherwise all I see on screen is the car and the road.. What more could you want 👍
As for driving at night in the rain at Nurburg... Its erm.... Intense!! Absolutely loved it though. Straining my eyes to see the road, straining my ears to hear the engine, and straining my talent to its limits!
Cockpit cam is king. I would never drive any other way since it was implimented in prologue.

I find this interesting because i do the same, and we wound up in the same division with an almost identical handicap, I wonder how many others in D2 bronze do the same?
I just find it much more immersive, especially at Nordschleife if you were doing it in real life you wouldn't have a map and a hud with times etc on it.
