Of course I forgot to mention that.. For the ultimate cockpit experience I always turn the HUD off and set the POV to narrow. Sometimes when racing online I put the HUD back on to keep an eye on my sectors, but otherwise all I see on screen is the car and the road.. What more could you want 👍

As for driving at night in the rain at Nurburg... Its erm.... Intense!! Absolutely loved it though. Straining my eyes to see the road, straining my ears to hear the engine, and straining my talent to its limits!

Cockpit cam is king. I would never drive any other way since it was implimented in prologue.

I tried the narrower view for a while but then found that in many cars at least half my rearview mirror was cut off. In the Wide view I could see the whole rearview, but it really limited visibility. Have you found a solution for the rearview mirror issue?

That's what that image would lead you to believe but it's not the case because when in cockpit view you are effectively still using that central seating position that you have when in bumper-cam. It's easy to notice 2 ways.

1) Swapping between bumper and cockpit view you will notice no change in the seating position. When you go from a supposedly right hand-drive cockpit view to bumper cam, the image should "snap" as the POV changes but it doesn't.

2) When in cockpit mode you'll notice that in a RHD car (for example) you are able to run the left hand tyres seemingly off the track as perspective would suggest without actually going off track. This is because you are actually sitting in the center but with a cockpit offset to make you think you're on the right hand side of the car.

The edges of the dials align almost perfectly with the width of the car, and I think that's why it's preferred as it allows the driver to be very accurate with his car positioning.

I've explained a lot of this pretty badly, but you get the point I hope.
Are you trying to tell me that in cockpit view, the edges of the car aren't really where they appear?? 'Cause that's ridiculous, you can see the side of the car closest to the wheel hit things when you run into them.

I also think the bumper cam has to be in the middle of the car... although the fear that it wasn't—and that I'd therefore have to magically know if the car was left- or right-hand drive—is why I shied away from that view from the beginning.

BTW: I think someone should make up a time trial for people to do while we wait for the official ones. :)

EDIT: So I did a very simple test: I parked with the middle of my car on a straight white line. In bumper cam, the line is in the middle. In cockpit view, for both LHD and RHD, the line is off to the side as you would expect.

Hi guys i need some help, does anyone no how to find out what Div u are in cos i cant find it (WRS series) thanks
an yes i have posted my times

It'd be a nice to know what everyone around you was using for sure. Doesnt really bother me though. Its not like I think others have an advantage using bumper cam, after all its my choice not to use it. Like you I prefer the immersiveness of cockpit cam. I'd rather be Div2 with it than Div1 without it. (not like I could ever be Div1 )

Very interesting indeed. My tendency is to use bumper-cam but I switched to cockpit view for the quali and was so bad at first anyways that I didn't notice a difference. After a few runs at each sector and starting to get a feel for the car, the times started improving but I never thought to switch back and see if it was any easier. The cockpit view just looks too good even if not any more realistic.

Glad to see I made the same division without putting in crazy hours to achieve the times I got, maybe 1 hour for each sector. Anyway, looking forward to the WRS, I'm aiming for promotion! :D

Thanks to all the admins for the effort put in to running this, and future events!

Oh and btw... I'm the top Irishman!!:sly:

Welcome to the WRS 👍

Please ensure that while you are posting on the forums, when referring to yourself please use capital "I", please start your sentences with capital letters and please do not use textspeak such as "cos" instead of because, "no" instead of know or "b" instead of be.

You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

All the best

You missed a full stop after Maz Maz.

Wow, that actually took me a while (all of 30 seconds) to decipher. :D

, If you were around back when GT4 came out and saw the Drifting forum... it would be 2nd nature to you

/disclaimer... Not that I was a "drifter"

Now that's a clear, concise, easy to understand, "can't be disputed" kind of test. Glad we cleared that one up:sly:

Yep, there is just one different thing

The DS3 have a vibrator :nervous:, and the SXS don't have :grumpy:

That's odd, I know mine says SIXAXIS on it but it definitely vibes to let me know when I'm hitting the rumble strips.

It might seem weird at first, but set the field of view to narrow and turn all the display elements off in the pause menu. But only if you're interested in extra awesomeness 👍

Dude I did that exact same test in post 1406..... with pictures! :dopey: lol

I do agree that cockpit cam adds to the immersion, and I do like a blast around the ring in the BNR34 Skyline in cockpit cam, HUD off, clutch and shifter. Awesome.

When it gets competitive however, bumper cam is how I roll.

EDIT: We're straying way off topic. Can't wait for the WRS to kick off!!
