Here's a scary thought. Since you're absolutely right - private lobbys have not been confirmed but damage has.

Can you imagine how bad public servers would be with damage on? At least now, with the 5 lap races, I can get back in the running after a punt but, if my back axle was snapped and they've still not put back the quit option, I reckon at least half my races would be over by the first corner

On average I'd estimate 3-4 hours racing will yield a single 5 lap race. I'm not going to waste my time with it unless theres still races with no damage.

For some reason that completely escapes me everyone here sees damage as some kind of good thing. I see it as hours spent watching a beautifully rendered stationary wreck lying just of the track at the first corner of suzuka.

Bringing up a point that's been made before, Polyphony could take a page from Forza and have different levels of damage. I played FM2 last night and there was Simulation damage (cosmetic and mechanical), Cosmetic (self-explanatory) and Off. For online races on public servers, I'd expect damage would be either off or only cosmetic.

Or, Polyphony could go the way of GRID and have full damage in every race and not include private lobbies, and then none of us would bother playing online ever again. There's always that possibility.

it would be nice to think that car damage will make people drive more carefully but i doubt very much that that will happen.

Thing is accidents happen. Even among the best drivers. Even in real life at the top level of F1 racing, people wreck.

The difference with GT is it's a game. I'd much rather get back on the track after a crash and at least have something to do for the next 10 mins or so, competing for a lower place than have to just sit there and pretend I'm dead or whatever it is you do when you're out the game.

Yes - damage is realistic. But this is a video game, first and foremost. The fact that the cars are indestructible improves the gameplay whilst hardly detracting from the level of simulation involved in driving and winning.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a lot of the pro-damage camp are going to be posting announcements that they're never playing online again, come the fall update. Even in private matches all it's going to do is cause arguments. It's much easier to forgive someone for accidentally shunting you if you still manage to finish 3rd or 4th. Just ask Adrian Sutil how it feels with realistic damage turned on.

Wouldn't “Damage without Private rooms” be like Polyphony rewarding the “what ever you call them” for ruining the GT5P online gaming? I think that would be a enormous mistake. Fortunately, very unlikely.

If some people already enjoy throwing you out of the track, I can hardly imagine the smile on their face if they can blow your car at the same time!?

By the the way, I really don’t understand this sort of “need” for Damage in the first place. Changing weather and track condition would be more thrilling in my opinion. (Hey Polyphony, while you are working on this, please do not forget to add Spa!)

Who cares..People are giving them a hard time that it's not a real sim without damage and all that rubbish. Give me damage anyways.

i want to be a GTP member created a new account on my PS3 and tried importing my main account save data into my new account, but i don't have a clue how to do this.

i tried using the search function here but i wasn't able to find usable information...
can some1 explain me what are the main steps in creating a new account/username and importing old savegames into the new account?

My old username is xchristox but i created a new GTP_ChrisTo account in my ps3, that's about as far as i got lol.

Log onto your PS3 using your old account, go to save game data, select the GT5P save using the triangle button and select copy. When asked where to put the copy, select your new user name.

Have hard times already been chosen such that we could end up with 50 folks in Div 1, 400 in Div 2, and 100 in Div 3? Or will all the times be listed out and then equal size Divisions be drawn up? Thanks!

By the look that the actual GTP members thread have, seems to be that it's more into the last way you said, but nothing is sure until Sphinx confirm / release it.
