Great, it just screwed me yet again. Now I'm not gonna get my PS3 in time to register:indiff:

Hmmmm.... how do you think future GTPlanet members will apply for a 'sanctioned' gtp tag. They'll register at a later date here (e.g. in 2009) and run and submit the qualifier after the initial due date of mid sept '08. Or did you expect that this would be closed forever.....

AMG.

Yeah, this was just to clear out the drivers who aren't regulars. Im sure future qualifiers will be held, though will likely be slightly different in nature probably to make sure those that qualify are going to come to more than one race.

I was under the impression this a one-time thing since there was a deadline, but I understand now.

Well there was some urgency to it because it was clearing out the registry, so it is important and I doubt another qualifier will be held for a long time, to keep the divisions balanced.
Likely, they will hold a qualifier at the end of a certain period (perhaps to again clear out non-racing drivers) that will also re-arrange the divisions perhaps. Don't know how Sphinx is going to organise this so its all guess work from me.

I'm a little confused about the deadline date: Friday September 14th 2008... because this day does not exist!

Is it Friday September 12th 2008 or Sunday September 14th 2008???

Reading the rules I was confused. What did you mean with "No Hybrids"?, I just know the kind of hybrid car but you're not talking about that for sure. What do you mean exactly?

Well, I wasn't even aware you could make hybrids in GT5:P, but I know in past systems you could use things like a Game Shark to basically hack the game and make one car have the engine of another car.

I think it was a case of "copy and paste". ;)

Hybrids:

I was wondering if the GTP_ race meets are going to have any of the organisers in the meets to keep an eye on things? we all know that the random online races can be chaos especially the one's that have a standing start and the GT AI penalties are not always fair on one hand or harsh enough on the other. i'm sure that the majority of the people that use these fotums are all looking forward to some good clean racing but it'll could only take one bad driver taking other drivers out for the races to turn into chaos.

Then they'll be reported. How can you think a race full of GTP'ers will not think to report and shame anyone who decided to step out of line? Of course they would! Then said bad apple will be expelled off the registry and not be given password access to the races, easy and simple.

I don't think it requires organisers to keep their eye on things 100% of the time.

oh i don't doubt that they will be reported and kicked out but how many races is the said bad apple/ apples going to ruin before that happens. is there only one race per week or is it a day full of races?

Well that depends on what events are run, I imagine several will be run at once (because running several different ones allows people from different time zones to race) though a main will be probably be held.
They have to ruin one race to be noticed and reported.
Seriously, why do you need to ask this? If you were hit by say, me, wouldn't you instantly make either a thread here and complain about it, pm me or pm Sphinx or one of the moderators complaining?
I'm 99% sure that almost everyone here would do just that.

oh yeah, i understand what you are saying. i can tell that the majority of the GTPers want clean races and would report the idiots that ruin races. that includes myself. the thing is the GTP_ register is big. and if there are codes or passwords to get into the races and there is more than one race that each driver can enter on the event day then the bad apples have the whole day on the same code/ password .i've never been to a GTP_ race event before and i'm looking forward to the first. i got gt5p on it's release day but havent played it much unill recently because of the lack of a friends list. i no how to get around that now so i've been on alot and the amount of dirty drivers is sickening. it's not what GT's about and i suppose it's my frustration at only having probably a handful of clean online races thats making me ask. oh and by the way i don't doubt that the organisers are capable of making the meet's work.

So here's the thing: It takes some effort to get on the list. Once you are on the list, the only thing that keeps you there is your reputation. For offline events (time trials and such) it will be fairly easy to keep your nose clean. Once races begin, there will be incidents from time to time, but those that are consistently causing problems will be booted and barred from entry to future events. Given the amount of effort required to get registered, and the expected quality of the competition, I don't think we'll have a significant issue with bad apples ruining the experience for sponsored events.

Even now, without closed rooms, you can already tell the difference between racing a trusted opponent and a known punter.

yeah, i know there are bound to be incidents where there is unavoidable contact through correctional breaking entering and exiting corners thats undrstanderble and to be expected especially through the lower league's. at the minute i've got a couple of psn buddies that i race just about every day, we've been doing the 700pp at suzuka mostly and because we all race clean and catch each others slipsreams we'll get time's of between 613 to 625 depending on how many idiots we come across on the way. anyway thank's for making how the race events will be run clearer for me. any idea when there going to start?

any idea when there going to start?
After divisions are set on Sept. 14th, we'll be ready to run offline events at least.

Official online events will likely wait until private rooms are available. Rumor has it this will come with the fall update, but there has been no confirmation.

Here's a scary thought. Since you're absolutely right - private lobbys have not been confirmed but damage has.

Can you imagine how bad public servers would be with damage on? At least now, with the 5 lap races, I can get back in the running after a punt but, if my back axle was snapped and they've still not put back the quit option, I reckon at least half my races would be over by the first corner :nervous:

I'm getting schooled by the Ferrari on the qualify race. Can't use my wheel until i move back to my home, so playing with the controller is awful, in this particular combo (MR powerful car, S tires).
