NEWBIE ALERT! Apologies in advance guys for the silly question..

Just quickly, can I just confirm how to get in playing WRS Week 1:

GT Mode > Seasonal Events :Time Trial No. 7: 295HP/FR Tsukuba Circuit Time Trial. ?

Please could someone clarify what "Laps: Hotlap in online Free Run" means? Do I have to set-up an online room? Or does the "online" bit refer to the online leaderboard of the seasonal event?

Sorry guys for the newbie question (and I have to admit I haven't read all of the posts in this thead so apologies). :scared:

BTW, have to say the whole WRS set-up is ridiculously slick and professional - well done to all. 👍

It was already answered in this thread, search.
1) Seasonal events (left on the screen, only available when online), Time Trial, Tsukuba.
2) You can only run it one way.

===========

I started yesterday, not prepared and could not get close, but used the stock version. Some weight reduction and tuning planned for tonight.

Hey Chris.....(etc)
Glad it feels ok for you mate... and best of luck with it when you get going again :)

O wait, is that your secret..? 💡
Well, its not a secret now. To be honest though, badly needing the toilet seems to be my key ingredient for the faster laps. I'm buggered if we do an endurance race ....

Another hour gone..... should have stopped on lap 19 when i set the time, instead of lap 50 when i was all over the shop:crazy:
Part of the "fun" of WRS - not knowing when to stop :dopey:

The last 300 or so laps have resulted in 4/100 off on the full lap time for me.

Good 15 laps this morning, switched to a 0.10 rear toe (matches front toe) and a fresh brain and a bit more smoothness.

15.378
34.815

Using an amalgamation of the Vagabond (Suspension and Camber), Fryz (Diff) and Ramon (Brakes) tunes.

The car feels quite nice to drive now, still don't feel right at the 2nd hairpin. Braking at just before the red/white rumble, keep well right and a straight wheel to stop any understeer and trying to get the car to turn in and hit the apex quite aggressively so I can exit in 3rd, as I do at the other hairpins.

Hmm. Might try that 2nd gear trick Anghammarad mentioned earlier later. And faff around with the front toe.

I'm pretty happy with my lap, DS3 + no grip is hard yakka but it was fun nonetheless...so glad to be back WRS'ing again 👍

Great to see you in here. :)

Alright, sorry to show up late but it's been a busy week with work, Valentine's and the GF. I finally put in a few hours today using eclipsee's excellent tune. Had some real lol moments learning to 'control' this beast.

I'm hoping to put in some more hours and update an improved time soon.

Nice to see you, also. 👍 If you're anything like me, you're hoping you can get the lap you want before the academy is back. :sly:

:tup:Received my new wheel today,so i could finally do my first session... :D

T1:15.407
T2:34.774

Haven't really tried any settings yet, just wanted to get a first session in...

Man,what a difference with my old/broken wheel...altho its the same one(DFGT)it feels like i have something completally different :scared: ...can't wait to get some more laps in.. 👍👍👍

spy.

I have had two consecutive frustrating and unproductive days. Multiple times I have been over two tenths up at T1 and messed up. It feels like I am only good at two corners at a time. When I figure out how to improve on one corner, I lose one of the corners I was good at. I'm chasing my own tail. I will bust a good lap eventually, though.

Welcome to WRS  That's how it goes most weeks. You cannot deny that it isn't addictive though :sly:

I'm liking this combo. It feels and needs to be driven almost exactly the same way that the 370Z did that we used in the 1st round of the US GT Academy, so I've had plenty of practice getting around this place. :sly:

The setup almost seems a bit arbitrary once you find a balance with the springs that you like. I've run laps within a tenth of my fastest time with both super soft and very stiff setting and cannot decide which I like better.

After hitting a wall for a few days I did manage to better my overall by .1 sec last night but was over .2 off my best T1/T2 on that lap. I've had a handful of T1 splits in the mid 15.2's but have not been able to put the last half of the lap together cleanly. :grumpy:

You are right. I'm enjoying it, even when I struggle. When I'm at work I think about where I can improve. I look forward to doing WRS for a long time.

 Well and truly hooked!

@Dr Wankel - problem for me is also sewing together consistent best sectors. If I have a good T1 I get giddy and then end up on the grass or in the wall... That's what sets the really fast guys apart from the rest of us - they're more consistent. I hate them! :ill:

Looks like I might not be able to get anymore laps in. After fixing the problem with the brakes, my accelerator pedal is not functioning properly.

Phew, after plenty of frustrating laps where my splits seemed to get longer but my laptime decreased by hundredths I managed to put in a decent for me time, practially drifting round the 2nd hairpin as well!:scared:

15.825
35.622

Not my fastest split (1) but my overall lap was.
T15.591
T35.359

A mate brought his wheel round, so I thought i'd have a pop beating my time....managed 1.6sec slower as my best lap....:guilty:

Switched back to the controller and knocked 2 tenths off on the 1st lap......
So the wheel does make you better ++with a controller++ :)

T1: 15.627
T2: 35.483

Use the wheel for a few months and you will be asking yourself why you never got one years ago ;)

I have to admit, when I bought my first wheel (a DF Ex for GT4) I was a little disappointed and couldn't get to grips with it... and I was alot slower than I had been with the analogue controller. After a few days practice though, there's no looking back.

The trick is to use the snap to your advantage. Approach in third while engine braking, at the exactly right time downshift to second without braking. When the back comes around shift up to third immediately and floor it ( in a lethargic sort of way) and hey - Instant 15.2XX T1.

Edit: BTW had the freezing replay tonight. Really strange bug.

Cool

Without a doubt when you first try a wheel you will be disappointed. Remember you have been using a controller in all previous GT's (if you played any others)
So it does take a while to get to grips with it, so anyone thinking of making the switch should remember that. Don't expect to be faster from the get go.
