As most of you are aware, PD implemented an update last night that has brought some of the rules for this event into question. The GTP Race Admin team has thoroughly discussed this matter, and formed the following resolution -

  • The original rules on engine turning still apply. You are only allowed to perform an oil change in GT Auto. Performance enhancing engine upgrades are strictly forbidden.
  • Adjusting individual transmission gears will not be allowed. If you've made a run with the individual transmission gears adjusted, reset them to the default settings, and adjust final drive speed only. This is verifiable by monitoring engine RPM's in individual gears. Those found cheating will face the punishment listed below.
  • Upon completion of WRS week 1, the results will be posted as provisional. At this time, the results of week 1 will not count toward any promotions or long term tracking.
  • Assume that you will need to post a replay for this event. A very large portion of participants, if not all participants, will be required to post a replay.
  • In the event that PD issues a replay system that allows us to verify the HP, torque and equipment upgrades made to the cars, we will review ALL replays at that time and make the results “Official”
  • Anyone found to be exploiting the update and breaking the rules of this event will be permanently banned from the GTP Registry. This is whether the cheating is found on initial replay review, or review of replays after implementation of an improved replay system.

A PM containing this same information will be sent to all current participants, within 24 hours.

Thanks for the quick problem-solving by you and the other admin members.

The Updated Rules

Couldnt agree more to these! most fairest way to keep everything on a level playing field!

👍 Great Decisions by the Admin!

EDIT:

@EDK: How about the "Controller Steering Sensitivity" setting that is now available in the Race Options Menu? It doesnt seem to be covered by anything. I *FOR NOW* am assuming that it is not allowed to be changed, until I hear any different.

Thanks :)

I tortured myself for hours on those hairpins for nothing? :ill:

I think if you have everyone submit their replay, the threat of being banned should be enough to allow the results to count. I also fear that if you wait for replays to show every possible piece of information, none of the WRS weeks will count!

T1 = :crazy: How was T3 for you Lapierre4?

I would say it was quite good but I'm sure there are .1 seconds left there.

.....WAIT, we can only adjust the speed and not the final gear ratio (3.8xx)? :scared:

Small update. Virtually at my limit now, perhaps another tenth in it if everything was perfect, but chances of me hitting it are slim.

T1: 15.329
T2: 34.803

Just to be clear we can now adjust final drive aswell as max speed ?

In my mind, final drive and max speed are the same adjustment.

You can't adjust individual gears at all. I understand that adjusting 5th would adjust top speed without affecting final drive, but you are not allowed to do that.

the reason i ask is because adjusting the final drive gives a finer level of adjustment as the max speed adjustment is in 10 kph increments and this might make policing the rev/speed ratio a lot more complex.

EDIT : Forget it lol I think God thanked me for telling the truth. I've just beaten it without any illegal parts or settings! My first sector is not a blast as my other lap but T1 is a lot better.

T1: 15.367
T2: 34.607

I'm not in front of my PS3. Do both still exist as separate adjustments?

I would like to echo this, and add something more:

Since we're waiting for a possible upgraded replay system, it may be wise to add to the standard WRS rules that participants should keep submitted time replays indefinitely and/or until such time as a more permanent decision can be made in reference to these issues. (The rules currently state to keep replays for two weeks.)

Also... yes EDK, the final drive ratio and top speed incremental adjustment are independent.

grrr, now i must try again. :irked:

No, good solution! 👍

My last splits was .2xx / .55x
f2t3p111n122.gif

Tomorrow i will beat them. :dopey:

I have a question and it would be crucial for me... Does the ballast makes any effect if its weight is 0? I mean does it change the balance of the car? I had the GREAT idea to put some value on it...:yuck:

Ballast only works if you add weight to it, which should also slow you down.

The thought was we might very well ask EVERYONE to post a replay, effectively keeping everyone's replay, here on the GTP server.

And thanks, I edited my post. And the PM will not go until later.

So we Now have to wait for PD To Update the Game with an advanced Replay Option that Moniters the car's Settings ?It's Highly unlikely more like later rather than sooner so the question is
PD may never actually release this Update so will WRS weeks Never count for Promotion ?and can't we all Trust each other .

I believe the admins were only referring to this week in reference to not counting for official results/promotion because the updates came in the middle of the week.

The next events will have the new game options taken into account, so barring 1.07 coming very soon, they should count. 👍

Please be reasonable. We've had less than 24 hours to react to an unexpected complication for an event that was already in progress and has a deadline in 72 hours (Even though some insisted it would become a "2 Day" contest. :sly:)

Now you're assuming that whatever we decided under this trying circumstance is what we are going to do until we get a replay update?

I think we've left it open ended, so that everyone understands this result will not simply go into the scrap heap.

And we are taking steps to raise PD's awareness on how they've taken what was already an inadequate system for running clean and fair OLR, and made it even worse.

Unless I Missed Something When was there any mention of a newer Update ?

Yes Kevin I understand how this update made it very Difficult for the OLR team my Point is that Next weeks combo we will encounter the same Problem so in my opinion the only way to overcome this is for all Participants not to cheat and have Sportsmanship (which is easier said than done I know). But Hopefully If a Patch is forthcoming than it will be soon.

Anyway Update

T1: 15.334
T2: 34.912

And MY point is that the event was created with rules that applied before the update.

That doesn't mean we can't create something that will steer around this issue for the next event.

So the reference to the update applied specifically to replays that we will keep for THIS EVENT, and then make them official in the event that we can fully verify them.

I was merely using that as an example. The update came AFTER the specifics for the event had been determined, and the changes affected the regulations of the seasonal time trial. For the next event, the admin team will know the intricacies of the new system and will be able to make educated decisions about how to implement the rules.

That's the difference between this week and the weeks to come.

Edit: Tree'd by EDK. 👍

I just can't seem to settle on a set up that works for me.
They all seem to understeer really badly for my driving style.
I am using a mix of Vaga and Eclipsee ATM.
But my best runs still sit me at T1: 15.8xx and T2 36.0xx.
Still some time to go, but I don't think I'll be much threat to the ones at the top at this stage.
Keep pushin!
Cheers All!

Alright No Problem guys Hopefully You can come up with something to make it an even field .

Thanks for your answers any way . 👍

I have yet to post my splits as I am not entirely happy with my one quick effort and hope to get some quality time in this weekend and Monday (I'm on holiday for a week :D ). I would however just like to offer my thanks to the admin team who have gone to great lengths to organise this competition, under already difficult circumstances, only to have it complicated further by PD's update. On behalf of the silent majority, thanks guys and keep up the good work, it is greatly appreciated

Oooh yeah, new splits, been working all week long for those and with my own tune. (a first)

T1: 15.299
T2: 34.691

What a cufuffle!

Thankyou to Kevin and the rest of the OLR team for sorting the new edited rules so quickly. Now for the repeated head banging on the wall and the same questions being asked over and over..
Good luck :)

AS for me, I was discussing some ideas i was having with Maz last night, I don't know if these have been raised yet or not but i would definately like to air them at the right place/time and to the right person/people.

As to week 1. Hopefully all here are all clean and fair racers (we are all on the registry after all,) why bother to cheat and face dismissal from the WRS and OLR events in the future, I am here for clean fair but fun racing and some good old fashioned banter when not racing. I think that the rules from day 1 should still stand and that a new set of rules should be drawn up for week 2 taking into consideration the new features, (havent looked or installed the update yet so still dont know what has been modified). Anybody who has submitted before the new version should still stand and any submissions using the new update should be void with members encouraged to set a new time. I think this is the only fair way in my opinion.
thanks
Alex

What?

Edit: All of the upgrades for a car must be stored in the replay.... so we must be able to 'hack' the replay file to figure out what's on the car! ... Somebody should figure that out. :D

Indeed, your point doesn't make sense. You are suggesting that all post-update submissions are void and that people who have submitted times after the update should discard their lap, and submit a new time, even though this new time will be generated with the new update and therefore should be discarded???:boggled:
