As most of you are aware, PD implemented an update last night that has brought some of the rules for this event into question. The GTP Race Admin team has thoroughly discussed this matter, and formed the following resolution -
- The original rules on engine turning still apply. You are only allowed to perform an oil change in GT Auto. Performance enhancing engine upgrades are strictly forbidden.
- Adjusting individual transmission gears will not be allowed. If you've made a run with the individual transmission gears adjusted, reset them to the default settings, and adjust final drive speed only. This is verifiable by monitoring engine RPM's in individual gears. Those found cheating will face the punishment listed below.
- Upon completion of WRS week 1, the results will be posted as provisional. At this time, the results of week 1 will not count toward any promotions or long term tracking.
- Assume that you will need to post a replay for this event. A very large portion of participants, if not all participants, will be required to post a replay.
- In the event that PD issues a replay system that allows us to verify the HP, torque and equipment upgrades made to the cars, we will review ALL replays at that time and make the results Official
- Anyone found to be exploiting the update and breaking the rules of this event will be permanently banned from the GTP Registry. This is whether the cheating is found on initial replay review, or review of replays after implementation of an improved replay system.
A PM containing this same information will be sent to all current participants, within 24 hours.
The Updated Rules
I tortured myself for hours on those hairpins for nothing? At this time, the results of week 1 will not count toward any promotions or long term tracking.
T1 = How was T3 for you Lapierre4?
Just to be clear we can now adjust final drive aswell as max speed ?
the reason i ask is because adjusting the final drive gives a finer level of adjustment as the max speed adjustment is in 10 kph increments and this might make policing the rev/speed ratio a lot more complex.
👍 Great Decisions by the Admin!
EDIT:
@EDK: How about the "Controller Steering Sensitivity" setting that is now available in the Race Options Menu?
I have a question and it would be crucial for me... Does the ballast makes any effect if its weight is 0? I mean does it change the balance of the car? I had the GREAT idea to put some value on it...
I would like to echo this, and add something more:
Since we're waiting for a possible upgraded replay system, it may be wise to add to the standard WRS rules that participants should keep submitted time replays indefinitely and/or until such time as a more permanent decision can be made in reference to these issues. (The rules currently state to keep replays for two weeks.)
Also... yes EDK, the final drive ratio and top speed incremental adjustment are independent.
So we Now have to wait for PD To Update the Game with an advanced Replay Option that Moniters the car's Settings ?It's Highly unlikely more like later rather than sooner so the question is
PD may never actually release this Update so will WRS weeks Never count for Promotion ?and can't we all Trust each other .
I'm not in front of my PS3. Do both still exist as separate adjustments?
I believe the admins were only referring to this week in reference to not counting for official results/promotion because the updates came in the middle of the week.
The next events will have the new game options taken into account, so barring 1.07 coming very soon, they should count. 👍
Please be reasonable. We've had less than 24 hours to react to an unexpected complication for an event that was already in progress and has a deadline in 72 hours (Even though some insisted it would become a "2 Day" contest. )
Now you're assuming that whatever we decided under this trying circumstance is what we are going to do until we get a replay update?
I think we've left it open ended, so that everyone understands this result will not simply go into the scrap heap.
And we are taking steps to raise PD's awareness on how they've taken what was already an inadequate system for running clean and fair OLR, and made it even worse.
Yes Kevin I understand how this update made it very Difficult for the OLR team my Point is that Next weeks combo we will encounter the same Problem so in my opinion the only way to overcome this is for all Participants not to cheat and have Sportsmanship (which is easier said than done I know). But Hopefully If a Patch is forthcoming than it will be soon.
Unless I Missed Something When was there any mention of a newer Update ?
And MY point is that the event was created with rules that applied before the update.
That doesn't mean we can't create something that will steer around this issue for the next event.
So the reference to the update applied specifically to replays that we will keep for THIS EVENT, and then make them official in the event that we can fully verify them.
I was merely using that as an example. The update came AFTER the specifics for the event had been determined, and the changes affected the regulations of the seasonal time trial. For the next event, the admin team will know the intricacies of the new system and will be able to make educated decisions about how to implement the rules.
That's the difference between this week and the weeks to come.
Edit: Tree'd by EDK. 👍
...I would however just like to offer my thanks to the admin team who have gone to great lengths to organise this competition, under already difficult circumstances, only to have it complicated further by PD's update. On behalf of the silent majority, thanks guys and keep up the good work, it is greatly appreciated
What?Anybody who has submitted before the new version should still stand and any submissions using the new update should be void with members encouraged to set a new time.
