Obvious sandbaggers? Why don't you just point the finger directly?
Some people, myself included, are not very good at the Nurburgring. Enjoyable enough but, speaking for myself, every time I push for a really good time, I lose it and slide off into the barrier or put a wheel on the grass and spin. It was more important to me to get a clean lap in for the qualifier, regardless of where I ended up in the divisions. That doesn't class as sandbagging in my book.
In GT5P I was in D3 Bronze sat on the sofa with a Driving Force Ex wheel that cost me ÂŁ15 off eBay, happily seconds off the pace but having fun.
Now I'm in D2 Bronze, which I was happy with since it was an improvement, which is what I expected since I've now got a G25 and its actually bolted to something, not sat on my knee.
Come the first WRS and I love the car, it suits my driving style but believe me, no-one is more surprised than I am at my current pace. There is no dishonesty in any of it and your veiled accusation seems quite bitter and unnecessary - I realise it wasn't aimed at me directly but since I seem to be the most "out of position" you'll forgive the assumption that it I am one of your targets.
Next WRS challenge may be with a car or track I am useless at so maybe it would be more politic to wait and see before making assumptions. In any case, the race admins seems very fair and reasonable to me and I am open to, and happy to make myself available for, any scrutiny or questioning they deem necessary.
I am (at the end of the day) 39 years old, not a child, and I have joined the WRS as a challenge to enhance my Gran Turismo experience and enjoy the company of other GT fans while doing my best to be competetive. I have no interest in cheating or getting myself banned from the WRS or GTP, particularly as I have just paid to become a Premium member. I can't speak for everyone else obviously but I think you'll find that's why most of us are here.
Edit - chukabilly's post says it all quite nicely (as quoted below)
