Dear race admins, I was wondering how you were going to deal with the obvious sand baggers this week. If Week 1 isnt going to have a permanent record can people still be black flagged or warned? Just asking so your answer can be public knowledge đź‘Ť

On the leader board how do I get a wheel next to my name?

Put your controller tye in your sig. Someone will update it đź‘Ť ( i think )

Is there any chance I can be a late late entry into this :(. And can someone if its Polite PM me about how all this works etc. I understand obviously this first race event, but how do we put replays up for the Fetchbot to read :S. How do people view it, Am I allowed to use rigidity upgrade (20k) for extra stability around the corners, as typically cars like this camaro can bottom out and spin easily...

Sorry for this VERY LATE post, its the very first time ive seen this, saw the title and now im very interested, and im quite a competitive so and so :S, but a fair one, i wouldnt want to win via cheating, so this is right up my alley :).

Can someone help me at all :(. Sorry its late and deadline for time splits officially is wednesday i believe, or the 21st is it?? But some help would be appreciated as id like to join :).

Many thanks

Mark :D

My time was posted before the update.
IMO the WRS trial should of been set the the stock gearbox In the 1st place, As this Is a competition to see who can get the same car around a circuit In the fastest time.
I think It would of been wrong to use customised gear ratios 3/4 of the way through the trial anyway & anyone trying to sneak In a time with ratio adjustment don't deserve a place here.
The WRS Is a well established competition where qualifying members have respect for fellow members & the times they post.
Getting 1st on the board doesn't intrest me at all, But bettering myself does & I get the inspiration from guys posting mental times.

I respect the decision of the staff here & think they have done really well on the whole problems thing.

*EDIT*
On the leader board how do I get a wheel next to my name?
You have to put your controller type and region (pal or NTSC) in your signature. I see you already have your controller type in your signature, but try to put it in the format Captain Roh or me have.

Have you already run the qualifier? If not, then wait for the qualifier to be re-opened begin march. All information related to this race series can be found in this thread if you need it: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=180298

I'm going to have to submit with what I have it would appear I've peaked too early. I have maybe 5 hundredths in each sector but I can't put it all together, especially sector 2.

.........

Thanks for the help boys, but unfortunately i'm doing something wrong.:nervous: Im using small_fryz tune and anything i try to get the rear end to step out on me in turn 1 doesnt work. i either understeer past the corner or am slower then my ghost doing it normally. Never does the rear step out.:yuck: ive tried stabbing the throttle, ive tried braking then throttling to throw the weight distribution off the rear wheels, ive tried different lines. im lost. So i take my hat off to the guys using the technique.đź‘Ť As the new WRS will be out tomorrow i think, ill call it a day and submit my times.

i can feel i great love hate relationship happening with this WRS.

....... sorry for the rant.

New Splits, small improvement.

15.648
35.213

Hoping to get one more run in on this tomorrow, I wan't that T2 below 35. I know if I can string two of my better sectors together i'll just make it.

Since the update have any of you guys had problems with the game freezing? Twice tonight on my first laps it just froze and I had to quit out of the game. The third time I didn't load my ghost and it was fine. Strange because last night I ran the new seasonal events and had no problems.

First splits... Now to tune the car a bit ;)

T1: 0'15.840
T2: 0'36.098

Obvious sandbaggers? Why don't you just point the finger directly?

Some people, myself included, are not very good at the Nurburgring. Enjoyable enough but, speaking for myself, every time I push for a really good time, I lose it and slide off into the barrier or put a wheel on the grass and spin. It was more important to me to get a clean lap in for the qualifier, regardless of where I ended up in the divisions. That doesn't class as sandbagging in my book.

In GT5P I was in D3 Bronze sat on the sofa with a Driving Force Ex wheel that cost me ÂŁ15 off eBay, happily seconds off the pace but having fun.

Now I'm in D2 Bronze, which I was happy with since it was an improvement, which is what I expected since I've now got a G25 and its actually bolted to something, not sat on my knee.

Come the first WRS and I love the car, it suits my driving style but believe me, no-one is more surprised than I am at my current pace. There is no dishonesty in any of it and your veiled accusation seems quite bitter and unnecessary - I realise it wasn't aimed at me directly but since I seem to be the most "out of position" you'll forgive the assumption that I am one of your targets.

Next WRS challenge may be with a car or track I am useless at so maybe it would be more politic to wait and see before making assumptions. In any case, the race admins seems very fair and reasonable to me and I am open to, and happy to make myself available for, any scrutiny or questioning they deem necessary.

I am (at the end of the day) 39 years old, not a child, and I have joined the WRS as a challenge to enhance my Gran Turismo experience and enjoy the company of other GT fans while doing my best to be competetive. I have no interest in cheating or getting myself banned from the WRS or GTP, particularly as I have just paid to become a Premium member. I can't speak for everyone else obviously but I think you'll find that's why most of us are here. :)

Edit - chukabilly's post says it all quite nicely (as quoted below)

Sometimes I drink coffee and race the latest fancy, testing myself against a qualified field. Other times, I don't drink coffee and type on a semi-functional keyboard. I'm not drinking coffee, so here it is as I see it. This is what WRS means to me.
I. Don't cheat.
II. Don't try to cheat.
III. Be willing to show you did not cheat.

These are the Rules.
I. Buy this car.
II. Do this only to that car.
III. Drive that car on this track.

Why.
I. WRS is a privilege, not a Right.
II. We [the WRS community] want this to be accurate.
III. If you can't agree, go away.

I love this series, and have bonded with some really cool people while dong it. Don't make it hard on those who are providing it.

That is all I have to say, or type.

RACE ON!!! :gtpflag:

Here here!

+1 to your rep :) đź‘Ť

Well said Chris. đź‘Ť

Before any accusations of sandbagging are made surely few more weeks and different types of cars and tracks must come into the equation. What about the guys who have gone the other way (performed worse so far than their qualifier). Not every track/car combo will suit everyone. More time must be given to work out the true positions of everybody here.

Cheers Shaun.

Did some runs with my new G27 last night, think I need to pull back the FFB (you have to use 10 with the DFGT), getting more used the wheel and did a quicker T1, but overall about .3 down on my fastest lap, but happy with that for an adjustment to a very different wheel.

Well done admins on the post-update reaction to the event.

Submitting early with my current splits. Somehow I've got into the top half again and am hoping to stay there in the results, but either way it's been a lot of fun in this first week. Good luck to everybody racing.

Edit: Cancel that, I'm getting back in time to have another session on Monday. But, er, good luck still!

After my first couple of hour stints ended in very little but frustration and 36 second times, it all seemed to come together this morning on my third attempt and I finally managed to get into the flow of it and put together some good splits. Managed a couple of 35.1XX's but managed to spin coming out of the final hairpin both times, so these will have to do for now:

T1: 15.504
T2: 35.276

Hopefully I'll be able to manage one more run tomorrow as I'm sure I have a 34.9XX in me.

Had a few runs this morning and couldn´t believe how far i was off pace.

Not a single run near the times i made last night:crazy:

Before being tempted to break the wheel i stopped...:ouch:

OK, i think i´m done now.

T1: 15.282
T2: 34.578

And my set, a mix from Ramons and mine. :)

Ok fair enough i understand that. So will there still be a week 2 at the same time? looking forward to seeing what comes with that.

Yes, week 2 will be up by tomorrow.

Sometimes I drink coffee and race the latest fancy, testing myself against a qualified field. Other times, I don't drink coffee and type on a semi-functional keyboard. I'm not drinking coffee, so here it is as I see it. This is what WRS means to me.

 Chuk. Sometimes you race under the influence of some other mood or mind altering substances as well. :P

Dear race admins, I was wondering how you were going to deal with the obvious sand baggers this week. If Week 1 isnt going to have a permanent record can people still be black flagged or warned? Just asking so your answer can be public knowledge đź‘Ť

We've set up the database to track how people are performing over time. The first way we'll "deal with" those who overperform relative to their qualifier time is to require replays from all of them. Not just the top 3 in each division, but anyone who overperforms relative to their qualifier pace, or ongoing pace at a later point.

Beyond that, there ARE a lot of variables. The amount of time they had to commit to qualifier, the technical nature of the track, have they changed equipment since the qualifier (wheel vs. controller, etc.). All of that makes it so the best way to deal with "sandbaggers" is to move them into the division they are performing in.

That won't happen off of this week's results, but it will happen, eventually.

Ok I think I'm done with this combo. It didn't seem to be that good at the beginning but once you get into a rythm the car is really fun to drive on such a small technical track like Tsukuba. On my way to my best lap this morning, I did a 15.174 in the first sector but since this was too extrordinary, I broke too late the next turn... LOL Anyway final times :

T1: 15.267
T2: 34.574

One thing i would like to clear out

In my Garage screen my Z28 has 295 BHP, In the tuning screen she has 296 BHP
BUT I'm able to enter the online event which is restricted to 295 BHP.
Same thing was in GT4 where different BHP was shown in different menus.
I only did an oil change and I follow all rules of WRS.

I just would like a confirmation from race admins that my entry will be "legal and fair"
if not please advise me how to resolve this.

New spilts:
T1: 15.724
T2: 35.563

OK, i think i´m done now.

T1: 15.282
T2: 34.578

And my set, a mix from Ramons and mine. :)

Pretty much the same setup as i used today, only not those rideheight settings... ...Are you sure these are correct Rudi??...

Great splits btw.. đź‘Ť

Oh and it seems the leaderboard hasn't updated since early this morning... :odd:

spy.

So I just looked through Rudi's set and noticed he's using max ride height on the rear and minimun on the front(maybe he's not the only one but it's the first time I've noticed this in a setup posted here), is this not classed as a "ride height bug" as stated in first post?
Optional - NOTE: Any tuning gimmicks that offer an unfair advantage (i.e. the ride height bug) are not allowed.

I know people use max front/min rear on the seasonal time trials, I've used similar myself on one of the time trials, but to me this is the same. Also, the brake bias settings, what car uses more rear braking than front? Maybe some race cars but this aint no race car. I've noticed a lot of setups in here use more rear braking, would that not be classed as an unfair advantage over people using realistic brake bias settings? Also ABS, does this car have ABS in real life?

I know it's being a bit picky but, I feel, that all these strange/unrealistic settings do give an advantage over realistic setups and if they are allowed, then any setup adjustments should be allowed.

What do you think?
