O.K., here are some splits to get me on the board. :(
T1: 38.350
T2: 47.491

Don't look for any improvement, though. :grumpy:
This issue with the network has proven to be quite irritating. According to their last statement, Anonymous called off the attack on Sony, but acknowledge that a few independent hackers of their group were determined to follow through. Whether it is them, or just the server being inconsistent, I don't know. It's been enough to keep me away from on-line events, and I'm hoping it won't disrupt this weeks Sunday morning LAN. :irked: 🤬
So, with Jake's help, I have been working on a tuning guide. It's mostly for myself, but I'll share it with anyone interested when it's done. It's not a set of tunes, but rather a quick reference for how to develop a tune that lets you become competitive in any car without hours of testing. Jake designed a tuning sheet, which is available for download through the tuning forum, that we will using to start a catalog of tunes. Kenny has already started lining up cars for races between different manufacturers. This is something we have wanted to do since GT4, and I'm thrilled to see it moving forward!!! :dopey:

Race On!

Jake has been doing some awesome work, both on his new cockpit and the new sheet. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next! And I want to see him back on the WRS track!!

Nice splits sid, for me the biggest problem in sector2 and in whole lap is left-right just before it.....it's very hard to hit the braking point for the first left and that's pretty much were all my laps are going down!!

Btw: For everyone, go to seasonal time trial 12 and watch my replay with EVO.....I'm using the same lines with Focus here!!👍

Thanks mate. Had a good go at the seasonal last night could only muster another 0.5 better using the setup you kindly supplied with some adjustments. 👍
Coming back to this thing after the evo feels like driving a truck, so heavy and doesn't stop :)

Amazing splits sid, you´re not aiming to D2 podium but to podium overall 👍

And great tips you´re giving along the away, you´re the man this week

@Chuk & @Everyone

The PlayStation Network is down scheduled maintenance Worldwide.

According to the official forums the following services will be affected:

Qriocity
PlayStation Store
Account management
Anyone trying to sign in therefore may find an issue and receive the error code (80710A06).

Sony says that it will update users with more information once maintenance is complete.

Really looking forward to the setup guide, I can usually get a car where I like it, but it always takes me way too long, and I think a guide would help shorten the time and improve the car handling even more. great idea!!!!

Tonight was frustrating - couldn't seem to run a clean lap never mind a fast one. Then hooked it up and ran three consecutive laps quicker than my previous submission. I've been 0.5 faster at T2 than the splits below, but had a poor T3, so these splits represent my fastest lap so far

36.249
44.995

Can't get on to PSN even through my PC at this time.

I had to take some baby steps and just push up a little w/ my fastest T1 so far :)

T1: 36.113
T2: 44.015

No improvements today. I saw a 36.00x sector 1 and the phone range as soon as the time flashed up. It was all too much for me to handle and I forgot to break for the first turn of sector 2.:banghead: I'm getting more consistent but find the longer I play I start to get slower. Still having a lot of fun with this combo. I hope there are plans for more rally weeks.

First and only splits for me. No time this weekend to improve, and personally don't like the rally aspect of GT5.

T1: 37.974
T2: 45.342

Good luck everyone! :good:

T:1 37.042
T:2 45.315

not much difference in my splits, but I cut a HUGE amount of time off final time. I'm starting to see mid 36's in first sector finally.

That corner is so frustrating, I get it right about 1 in 5 attempts. Getting nearer to my target total time, still over a second off where I want to be!

I'm going to check your replay out whenever I can get back on PSN. I know there is huge amounts of time for me to gain in T2. The first 3 turns feel super slow and like I have no traction.

This week is a ton of fun though. I don't know why I don't rally more often. It was all I did on GTPSP but I have never been into it on GT5 until now.

I had to change my user account name to my GTP_Tag name, with the network down I think if you save a replay it will show the driver as different name and might be seen as running the event on a different account. Just a heads up!

It will, but I doubt anyone will get DQ'd for this, though it makes sense to do what you did just incase.

A good shake up this week... although I see a few "usual suspects" at the head of the queue :)

Nice showing from D2 again - going great there Sid 👍

Nice splits from Lefty too 👍

Decided to have a proper bash at this tonight and put in a good hour or so... very frustrating. Hating T1 quite a bit and keep making a complete mess of the exit from the long right hander. I'm still running without FFB which is still quite weird and most of my laps feel a lot like shooting in the dark hit-or-miss type affairs.

By the time I get to T2 I seem to settle down a bit and have got some decent times though there. T3 is quite a mystery and that last long right hander is a s***. Anyway, I got me some splits:

T1: 36.075
T2: 43.446 (yay! :))

I am now wondering how I was quite so bad at this event when I first ran it.... I'm now 18 seconds faster than back then.

Best of luck to everyone - this is not easy at all.

I gained something like 10 seconds. I don't know why I couldn't figure it out the first go around but whatever. It's not easy but it seems like when you do figure something out the time falls off the board in large chunks, no gains of a half tenth or so here.

Nice splits from Lefty too 👍

Thankzz Vag :) the thin air up here in the Alionisphire is really turbulent. I don't think I was in sixth for more then 30min and down I went...lol, crazy T2 bro you must have had the wind at your back. 👍

Fun fact: If you delete a game save for your gtp account, your replays stay there as long as you start a new game.
close call.

Put a bit more time in tonight. I think I've got T3 down pretty well but still am struggling in the first 2, especially T2. If I could get this thing to turn in a bit more aggressively in the slow speed stuff I'd be much happier.

T1: 36.023
T2: 44.053

Cheers mate... hoping the wind keeps blowing the same way. :)
There's no wind up my back, just you and all the cream rising to the top now. Man for not being good at rally thats really awesome splits, especially T2. And no FFB :scared:

Only change I made that seemed to improve my times is FFB on 10 now. I gave FFB off a try and crashed into just about every obstacle you could think of.

Still running 50/50 BB 3/10, ABS 1. Tried ABS off but was about 1 second off the pace. I would post up a replay of my T1/T2 to help out with the lines but have no idea how to do it? How are you guys converting the replays to watchable media (Hardware based)?

@GTP_ScepTer_
The trick I use since it's allowed is using the grass at every opportunity to help slow me down. So the first corner of T2 for example begin braking (gently) on the dirt and coming across onto the grass near the hay bails. By the time you get to the bails you should be in a slight drift across the grass which will slow you down. Try to point straight to the next corner while staying on the grass for better traction. Basically in T2 you are cutting across from grass -> dirt -> grass -> dirt. Try to keep the rear wheels on the grass on every corner exit for that extra bit of 'punch' out of the corner (better traction).

I am really bummed out this week because I am not a lame rally driver, and it's not that I don't like to do it. I simply can't attack this challenge as I usually do.:grumpy:
Some of the reason is due to business keeping me busy, and some of it is because life does exist outside of GTPlanet (whether I want to admit it or not) , and the rest is because this particular drive is a physical beast. :ouch:
Still, I am taking joy in "Lefty's Revenge" by reading the race. That's worth more than gold to me, and one ounce of gold closed today at over $1500!! :D

Race On!

T1: 36.699
T2: 44.556

Might have another go towards the end, not got much left.

Why is my T1 so damn slow compared to everyone else!?

Thanks mate. Yeah no FFB is weird, like driving a cloud... but it seems to work so far. I also crashed alot for the first few runs but you quickly get your eye in and adapt. My wheel sounds bloody awful with it switched on for this combo and overheats very rapidly, so I'm sticking with none.

I realised what my problem with the rally events was though - TC is set to 5 by default, which just won't let you drive the car properly. When I first did the events, I didn't even look at the driving settings since there's no tyre choice and was therefore fighting the TC. I also hadn't assigned buttons for the RA functions, so was not using optimal settings.

So maybe I'm not so bad at rally after all. :sly: Though in my defence, I never did very well at it in GT4... but back then I didn't have a G25, I had a (cheap) DF-Ex ;)

How are you guys converting the replays to watchable media (Hardware based)?
I'm using a USB video capture device - only does SD resolution but decent enough for replay purposes. :)

Chuck - shame you haven't got time to really attack it this week. I enjoy watching your progress over the week - you usually knock huge chunks of time off as we go. But yeah, Lefty is making a good account of himself and D3 this week eh? 👍
