This TT is fun just to drive around without worrying about times! The WRS is going to be fun too!

Lol, I've had moments like this. Not the fastest way around, but fun none the less.

I thought it was the only way round T1 & 2!
OK, I admit I didn't quite have Al's angle but I put down some rubber!
Is it easy to control a slide with that car? I wouldn't imagine I would be intending to do it, but if it happened because I was pushing too much, would it just spin me out, or will it be easy to counter?
Trail braking with BB 5/7 and downshifting slowly from 6th to 3rd gave me a sort of controlled slide. It was the only way I could keep speed into T1 and get enough angle on T2 to stay in 3rd. Throttle works as counter.
I'm running a brake balance of 0/8. May sound like I'm off my rocker, but I find that no front brakes on a FF car suits my style quite nicely.
I always use less brakes at the front on an FF car - this is something I picked up off of this site. I think it was on MCH's tuning thread. But I don't go as low as 0 at the front. Never tried it so can't say it would be crazy.
Yea, I have quite a few tuning quirks that I use that goes against the norm. They all work for me tho. I've found that with that, you can't be afraid to think outside the box.
...Also, that hairpin coming out of the tunnel is another trouble spot for me. Any tips on that spot. These FF cars really cramp my style
You're thinking of the S bend - the right / left - just after the tunnel. It's the most difficult part of the track imo. I'm wondering if I should try to slide a bit around the right hander to get my nose pointing the right way. If I can get the right start I can put the pedal to the metal through the next 2 turns and the rest of the track seems pretty straight forward. I'm thinking that the last sector isn't going to be the decider in this race.
Nice, composed, first sector there Chris. Made me feel quite hysterical
Yea, thats the spot. I thought about using the hand brake in the first turn but just not skilled enough at that procedure yet.
I found that going wide on the left before the right hander earned me 0.2s on the second sector. It allowed me to take left-hander wider and faster. From there on it's full throttle to the last hairpin so any gains at that left hander really add up.
Glad to see you're enjoying this one Mitch, because I'm not.
Best after about an hour:

I think that was a fluke as well. Not sure what I'm not doing right, but those first two turns, in fact the whole first sector is so hit and miss for me. I red lap or I'm just too darn slow - the second left hander is a killer at the start of the lap and I don't know the best of way of getting through it, yet. Will watch Chris's video see if I'm missing something that should be completely obvious - but then I've never been great with FF's there just so reversed.
I'm still using 5/5 Brake Balance - car feels more settled to me.
Here's my first sector vid anyway. 25.854
Well after watching Chris's sector 1 video I've learnt a lot. I see how he can go so smoothly through those corners without sliding and I've been practicing them the way he does them with his tune minus the gears - they don't match any way I've tried. But I'm making improvements now. I can see more and more how I can get round the corners smoother and faster, and it's plain as day, like I thought, just watching the video confirmed I was missing something fundamental.
First sector still has a lot of working to be done, but I'm happy with my sector 2. Last sector on this lap sucked last corner, so I know I can improve that as well.
Edit: Found a tenth, but not in the first sector

Good to see you're improving, nice splits. I too have just improved. Lost a tad on the first sector, but finally gained in last two for a better overall time
Nothing wrong with a little hysteria Alan - just save it for the main straight.Nice, composed, first sector there Chris. Made me feel quite hysterical
Glad it helped Iain 👍 Keep it smooth and relaxed and the speed will come.Well after watching Chris's sector 1 video I've learnt a lot.
You really have to feel how much grip the front tyres have and feather the brakes and throttle to keep the front end in. An FF car with no downforce is a tricky balancing act of brake and throttle - more so than an MR or FR because the front tyres are expected to turn and put the power down while they're already crying for mercy. The difference between nailing the apex in turn 2 and just sliding wide is tiny in terms of speed and placement, its not as simple as just being on the brakes or not. Watch the video a few times and make note of my speeds and where I brake and how much ... same with the throttle inputs.Looks like you only brake for a short while when you enter turn 1 and then hit the brakes again before going into turn 2. I also use break balance 5/5 and I have to break throughout the whole of the bend in order to even fit inside the track when going into turn 2 as I always go wide and hit the wall on the right.
