:scared:

Impossible T1 - you must've really nailed that hairpin. đź‘Ť Easy to lose 0.2 or 0.3 just in the traction zone there. Well done mate. :)

EDIT: Quick question...Is the small concrete part [like after the fast right-left in T1] just on the outside of the rumble strips legal?
Concrete sections outside the rumble strips are not track.

Nice first splits and as I understand it you have to keep two wheels on tarmac or on the red and white rumble strips. Anything outside of the red white part isnt track. If im wrong hopefully someone will say so because that would give me alot more room thru that corner and the last one especially using all the curbing.:)

Im pretty sure Im right tho.đź‘Ť

That is what I had thought, I just wanted to double check and make sure.
Only because I remember my first week, I spent all week except the last day avoiding one part that I thought was illegal and turned out to be legal.:dunce::lol:

Track rules can vary with each combo - Kev always puts the specific ruling in the details though:
EDK
Race Specifics:

  • The event MUST be run using your GTP_Tag Account
  • The use of the clutch that is found on the G25, G27, and other high end racing wheels is strictly prohibited.
  • Tarmac and Red and White Rumbles are Track
  • Nothing Else is Track.
  • Concrete, Cobbles and other surfaces found outside of rumble strips are not part of the track.

Submitting with splits on board. Had enough of this really tough week. Never felt comfortable with the car despite trying all the setups and had 500 miles of pain!

not much time to practice this week just broke the car in, will have another hour tomorrow night to see what is possible..

T1: 0'35.930
T2: 0'34.697

Think I'll give it one more go; back to default setup and work from there.

Are any of these sub-35 T1 guys running anything less than 8 or 9 brakes?

New Splits...

T1: 35.740
T2: 34.391

I've seen quite a bit faster overall, but that last corner screws me every time by 1/8 of an inch.:grumpy:

-----

Finally got somewhat close to what I was looking for overall, still about a tenth off my goal.
Not sure if I will be able to get that tenth.

T1: 35.640
T2: 34.407

Thanks for the encouragement guys. đź‘Ť

Despite my frustrated post, I did improve my time last night by a good amount, on lap 3 of about 40. :dunce: Just found the time in T3 instead of T1+T2. I also had just come home from a 400mile roadtrip with the family (I drove it all), so was already mentally numb.

Will still be submitting, and might have another session later today.
Nice job to a lot of guys who have figured this combo out pretty well!

This ^^

Don´t know if i can find the will to try this again even if all the D2 division is passing by now

Is as if every corner is important and done wrong and there goes .5xx.

And i´m so out of pace that is not even funny now :nervous:

34.765
33.426
Been waiting for someone to get both those numbers, very nice.

I think most of mine were gotten with my 10/5 setup I posted, and I got a few with 6/7 I'm currently running.
I'd place triple the value in full throttle exits from both the hairpins, and up to 2 tenths in the fast right/left.

The problem with this is I let myself be influenced by setups others posted early on. Although there are some setup ideas which are just faster to do, it's more important to get a setup which allows you to do your best. And going for what "word-on-the-street" has as the fastest setup is commonly not the way to a good time.

I'm seeing this with the brakes. In previous events, turning up the brakes to 8 or 9 suddenly found loads of time under braking. But in this event, it was just a total clash of styles; I like to brake right up to the apex commonly, but with 9/8 brakes, just kept losing the rear. I now switched to 7/6 and, although maybe a fraction slower in straight line braking, gave much more confidence on corner-entry.

I went back to a stock setup, and tweaked it to what I normally go for, including 7/6 brakes, and immediately felt more comfortable. Still losing a bit in T1. Still don't get what's going on in T2! (maybe need to fling it over those curbs and drift around the double-left or something) But got 3 tenths off my previous best lap, and going to submit with that.

Those are sweet, Jon! I won't be getting near that. Knackered after playing golf but might run some laps now, achieve little and give up to watch City vs Utd

Thanks Matt - seems to take a lot to unlock the potential of this combo, but I'm determined to get a podium. Would love a division win as I haven't had one before, but with Jack and now MadMax so close I'm not sure that's realistic :indiff:

I know I can go one tenth faster in T3, but after last night I also proved I can go a quarter of a second faster in T2 - I'm just not sure how I did it :ill:

Will give it another go tonight since I don't have to find a set-up or break a car in for week 26.

Alan_G: I run 5/4 brake balance... I've never seen a benefit going higher myself, but that might just be down to driving style.

Had to give it another go to see if I could get my last T1 to say hello to yesterday's T2. It worked! :sly:

T1: 34.759
T2: 33.519

Also cut another tenth or so in T3 for good measure, really happy with this lap. :)

Crazy T1 Jonas, crazy  đź‘Ť I'm still hit and miss with sub 35's...

I'm running it close with this lap so it needs much scrutiny...

34.907
33.435

Edit - dirty lap. Put 3 wheels off at the double left just into sector 2. I'm never going to be able to repeat that T2 - it was magic. Gutted. :ill: Edit - actually I'd already written the lap off at turn 3 - all 4 wheels off there. Bloody rubbish... :dunce:

On BB I have been running 4/7 or 5/7 with high ABS, which induced a slight drift when trail-braking.... but switching to 7/5 on occasion

Thanks Chris.

I think it's been 2 or 3 times in this thread you've cheered me on after I posted splits, only to absolutely demolish them a paragraph or two later. When I read this post I glanced down and the first thing I saw was 33.4 and I started letting out a loud "NOOOOOO"! :ouch: Then the gerbil started spinning the wheel and I added up .9 + .4 and realized I was still ahead. đź’ˇ Not by much, but maybe I can hang on to the line. I don't see me beating your T2 even if I spend another week on this. đź‘Ť

Carlos, I think the secret is trying way too many times. :dopey: That and getting on the throttle early out of the tight corners. I'm sliding around on pretty much every exit, I pretend I'm Senna!

It was a dirty lap anyway... cutting it too fine. I hope I can repeat that but I'm not holding my breath.... Gaah! :yuck:

Edit: Lost the plot a bit now...

34.966
33.595

Up 0.008 at the line from my previous (clean) splits but now looking for another 0.35 on the lap based on my best sectors... that's not likely to happen though so I'll settle for another 0.2 :dopey:

Probably one more try tonight, though I already submitted, looking forward to next combo. :D

Glad to hear it helped.
Nice times from everyone.

Well I managed to run another week will make sure I submint now before the day gets away. Thanks to everyone for tuning tips and set ups I cant remember where my final set up came from but it helped. Still not happy with my time I think its just good enough for dead last but you have to start somewhere I guess.

ugh.
As in my lap.... Ugh-ly :yuck:

Just getting into this week, and ran a few lot of laps.
I never feel I'm in the right gear with this car in several corners.
For example, in the first hairpin - 2nd is too far into the red, and third feels ... wrong.
Same with the final tunnel, except that 3rd is too red, and 4th feels wrong :dopey:.

I think I just need to select A gear and run with it.

* Using a mix of Kev's gears, Chris's suspension and My poor driving discipline. *
1 of those 3 really isn't helping :grumpy:.

First splits:

T1: 35.842
T2: 34.822

Edit: Minor improvement

T1: 35.907
T2: 34.440

Yep - I'm over 700km for the week already, which is the most I've been able to run for a few weeks now and it seems to be paying off. It's mentally difficult to commit to the power early out of the hairpins when on a good lap, as it's all too easy to spin up and lose time or hit a wall or a curb, or something else that costs 2 or 3 tenths

First splits to report:

Fast out the box...

MadMax

I thought I might have been in with a chance of a D2 win Max, but your recent record seems to suggest otherwise :ouch: I know I've got a tenth in T3 versus my best, and there is still time in T2 for me to get. Whether it will all be on the same lap is another matter... :nervous:

Found a bit of the time I was looking for after my break but not quite all of it. T1 still stinks but I don't think I'll ever get another T2 like that. T3 felt OK and I ended up around 4 tenths faster overall. This time is going to fetchy shortly.

Good combo, as always, but not too disappointed to be moving on to the next challenge.

You just had to go ahead and get new splits after we had the same exact combined time.

:) sorry teecro lol
