Really struggling on a couple of turns after T2, just can't put a lap together, every time I seem to be on a good lap there are a couple of corners in the final sector that kill my overall lap time. I think I am at least leaving nearly half a second in that last sector, I know I have left at least 3 tenths behind judging by my T3 for this lap. Left some time in T1 also.

Never mind, I will try and sort T3 out tomorrow :crazy:
 
sorry I haven't been able to get any time on this run. I bought me a racing kart last week and have been running around trying to get it ready to race this coming weekend. woooohoooo.... I'm psyched, always wanted to race..... first practice tomorrow night, I'll be waiting at the gates when they open it up so I can get as much practice as I can too. :-) I bought an '05 phantom, won two championships down in Florida, and the rear axle will spin for what seems like forever, everyone is in awe at how free it is.... motor is a Dover clone motor, good motor there, and I have a guy thats been around kart racing for over 25 years, both his sons race and they win about every weekend.... so I'll have no excuses huh? :-) I'll prolly be back next week here though.. barring no catastrophe at the track......
 
Slight improvement in T1 after 10 laps with the wheel but slightly slower in T2, definately more to find, its another day tomorrow...

First 30 minute run to get some splits on the board. Fun little combo but I've reset about a billion times so far after clouting the outside wall at the first chican :banghead:

I've seen a 52.3xx at T2 once but blew T3.:ouch: I should be able to manage a low 52.5 at worst, but I've yet to do that together with a good and clean end to the lap. At least I'm in with a shot at a podium this week after I failed last week.:)
 
My first WRS on GT5....

Don't know how much more is left in me. Maybe 3 tenths. Not sure if I can string it all together though. Oh well, I have till Friday to see if I can do it. :scared:

Gained a tenth in T1 but Lost a tenth in T2. I've been 2 tenths faster at the second split, but I made up 4 tenths in the last two sectors. I've hit my target time, but I feel I can do more. But as I don't know if i'll be included in the results yet, i'm going to leave it for now. (hint, 23 days and counting. Yes, i'm impatient and for that, I apologise)

New session with BB 3/6.

Not a good T1 as seen several .3x but the best T2 till now. T3 still need lot of work.

Don't think I've got much more in the first 2 sectors but plenty to gain in the rest of the lap.

Made small losses in each of these, but gained 2 tenths overall. There is still a tenth to be found in T3, but I think hooking up the whole lap is going to take a matter of hours, so that's it for me. Hope I can get my first D1 podium with this time :)

But looking at the splits, I'm not quite there yet. Time submitted anyway :) Brake Balance used was 5/8.

Had another go earlier, really struggling to find the time on this one, FWD's just don't agree with me.

I think I am loosing time in T1 as I take the 2nd corner (Hairpin) in 3rd gear, but judging by Dans post I take it everyone is using 2nd. I have tried 2nd but can't get the corner right using it, I am dropping to much speed and not sure what I am doing wrong.

I lost over a tenth in T3 also, so there is more time to find, I can't see me finding it though :ouch:

The second corner is definitely a 2nd gear corner in my opinion. The apex speed is maybe 56-57 mph which is a little too low for 3rd, and you need second to get a good exit up the hill. In contrast the next turn is a 3rd gear corner, with a more rounded apex and a speed of 60-61 which would not justify a downshift. If 3rd works for you, go for it 👍 But hitting the apex is the most important thing there. Slight kerb is good too, but not too much.

For reference, I cross the line at 111mph and exit the first chicane at 100-102mph. I found a smooth line through the chicane can be worth a tenth even with the same entry/exit speed.

That's a bit of a stretch isn't it? You're 5th o/a and only a hundredth off 4th. I'm not having a dig by any means, but 'struggling' is a realtive term. Question - If it was a RWD or 4WD car, do you believe that you'd be two tenths faster realtive to the top 3? From my perspective, your T2 sector is competitive (only two hundredths slower than Spud) so I don't think it's a FWD thing.

As Seismica suggests, the data points to 2nd gear being quicker in the second turn (assuming you're getting a good run through the first chicane) and using third is costing you a tenth and a half.
