*sigh* if only we had a tyre temp & pressure function...
That's what we were talking about this Sunday. Jake is doing iracing, and Kenny was asking about the differences in physics engines and the relationship to tire wear.
Kenny's point is that if we don't know the inside and outside tire temperature, then we don't know how much our camber/toe settings are affecting tire wear.
Jake can change tire pressures, but the relationship between GT5, iracing, and reality are quite vast indeed!
I have the distinct advantage of Jimmy. He races only every Sunday, and does his own tuning on the fly for every S.M.A.R.T. race. [Sunday Morning Automotive Racing Team]. He drives my rig, and I've learned much by watching him change my settings to his own preference. Sometimes he's faster, sometimes not.
He and I, with Kenny and Jake doing their set-ups, were comparing tire wear versus extreme camber settings. We found that camber doesn't really seem to affect tire wear in GT5, even on-line. If you stay on the track, your tire wear will not be noticeably different from someone who uses more/less camber than you do. Again, this is GT5, not real life.
I never used a lot of camber because I thought it reduced my tire wear. That is not my opinion now, so I will use it more freely.
Since Jon and Chris have been so gracious, I'm going to spend this week comparing their settings and the adjustments made. I want to get a better idea of how practice tunes crossover into on-line races.
I hurt myself last week by trying to push every lap. This week, I need to calm down and just drive for the pleasure of it. This study of off-line against on-line tunes seems to be a perfect opportunity to do that.
Thanks Speedy!! I know some racers don't care for the tuning events, but I live for them!
Tomorrow I have to do my on-line races in the totally awesome 3D3 Racing series, so I won't be posting any splits on this combo until Thursday.
But I'm not going to be an idiot again and try to over-achieve as a prerequisite to results. This week, I am going to run laps because I want to run laps. I'm not chasing anybody.
Racing On!
