What gear do you take the tight hairpin in, and the two chicanes - the one outta the tunnel and the one near the end of the lap before the 180 degree turn?

I don't even have the handbrake mapped on my DS3 setup - might have to try that one out :D

What is faster: smooth or agressive?
I just can't figure it out.
Read on.
Hey guys,

This lap is scary when you are on a quick one because you are flirting with the walls EVERY corner to be fast (and on some of the straights after watching my replay!)

This combo is going to reward balls.

Any questions feel free, more than happy to answer them.
Would that require big balls?
Because mine aren't so big.

Seriously, thanks for the advice. 👍

But its an amazing place, and one of dreams to go there for a race weekend! I was hoping this year as its just on my birthday!! :)

On the short straight where you get the sector 1 time, there is a balcony on the left with some blue Magneti Marelli signs. That was a cafe in 2006 - was a great spot to watch the Porsche Cup :D. If you do make it, I highly recommend getting a seat, the general admission area is really small, and on a steep hill with lots of trees to block your sight (in game it just looks like trees at the outside of the rascasse).

Back on topic, had a chance to run a few laps chasing my ghost last night, except that my fastest ghost freezes the PS3:grumpy:. I think I got a PB in sector 1, but couldn't get sector 2 hooked up at all.

Much more enjoyable in my opinion. Looking forward to running this quite a bit this week.

Ok guys - quick question. I've run a lap where I've gone pretty close to a wall, too close to actually get the camera in to take a picture to see if there's a gap.

I've:

a.) watched the replay several times and can see no deviation in speed, nor hear a "clonk" noise (music's been off since launch ;))

b.) watched the replay with the data logger - the point where I get close I am accelerating and the speed line shows no deviation - I've even walked up to the tv screen to check it :)

Is there anything else I can do, or is the above "enough" to prove that I somehow got within millimetres but didn't connect ??

This is obviously still only my 3rd real WRS race, still a n00b, haven't really had to do this yet.

Cheers!

Hitting Walls

Try and get the camera over the car, rather than from behind or in front. Stand back, go to take a shot and you can adjust the height etc of the camera, from here you can sometimes get a decent enough shot to tell if there is clear daylight. Especially here where there is probably road lines or curb to see underneath.

Other than that, if you really can't tell it's clean or dirty, call it dirty and try again.

Good luck 👍

If you suspect it to be a foul lap then throw it away and give it another go.
If you think it is clean but need to know for sure you could ask someone to check it for you prior to your submission.

Please remember:
a) it's just a game,
b) there will be an infinite number of other WRS combo's, and
c) staying clean will look good on you in the community, but submitting a dirty lap will be frowned upon rather strongly.

Please consider that before daring to submit a lap of which you are unsure if it's clean 👍

Ok, cheers.

I've watched it back several times and I think it's clean. To whom should I ask to check it if I choose to submit this time?

first week with WRS, you guys are superfast....... I've got some catching up to do.

T1: 27.736
T2: 45.444

I've always used an automatic, but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go to a manual.... wondering if anyone else uses auto.

Follow up to the previous questions

Yes, big balls are needed. To the point where you have to accept the fact that if I hit the wall then so be it. Because if you hesitate here for a second to try and be safe, tenths are washing down the drain. Keep going hard until you make it clean, then worry about the next corner!! Lol

I am using 2nd at the Grand Hotel hairpin, and 3rd at the chicane after the tunnel, and also at the chicane as you round the swimming pool.

I'll try to answer as many questions as you guys have, I'm not here to keep everything to myself.

Ahh, that's awesome cheers - I can get up above and take some shots. Here are a few.

I don't think I touch it. But I don't think I could get any closer either.

I think I'm going to post these splits for now but go at it a bit more to get a submittable lap that is a bit easier to verify.

cheers all.

If you use a wheel (And it looks like you have a DFGT), you really should change to manual and the flappy paddles. You might be slower at first, but it will be the best thing for you in the long run. Some of the controller drivers use auto, but you'll be hard pressed to find wheel drivers who are using it.

T1: 27.072
T2: 44.643

Sector 1 was great, sector 2 not so great and sector 3 had a bit of a close call with a wall. Best T1 and T2s so far though by about a tenth each.

Finally got approved. Done for the day, so I'm gonna post whatever I have. Hopefully I'll find some time when I switch to MT.

Sometimes you can also 'walk' around the bend, zoom and see if you can still see some background between your car and the wall. Case in point: my fastest lap of the day looks dirty :)

full pic here. But if I have to do that much work to prove it's clean - I'd rather do some more laps.

50/50 torque split is way faster for me. Normally I don't really see much advantage from one setup to the next, but that split feels like I have an extra 10 HP. I'm not sure exactly what that says about my driving.

I'm loving this combo.

New splits:
T1: 27.467
T2: 45.223

Lots of fun with this one! I think i've gotten a brake and power mix I like...

T1: 28.397
T2: 45.853

Now to work on speed at the line and that first turn!

Bit late getting started this week and then I find out this is the track I could have done with a full week on. Thought I would try for an hour tonight, nowhere near front D3 times, changed that to 2 hours, still nowhere near front D3 times. After three hours starting to get closer. Starting to get a few corners consistent but not the first left, no idea what line to take yet but will keep trying , and the last corner, get the right line for it about 1 in 5 times using luck.

T1: 27.487
T2: 45.147

New splits using 50/50 torque and 5/5 brakes.

27.407
44.564

Nice splits Kenny. I'll try and run your options tomorrow. I am going to be at chuks in the morning. Maybe we can get some racing in?

Here's that smoke show I promised. :D

These first 3 are all from the Casino Corner.

Not too shabby...

Damn... After looking back at the other splits, I'm losing a lot of time between T1 and T2. Got some work to do.

You qualified division 2, this if your first event, and you're 4th on the board out of 60 participants after your first session.

Are you sure you have the correct settings for the event?

Are you using the arcade only car?

Do you have Skid Recovery Force set to 'off'?

Here's that smoke show I promised. :D

Looks familiar 👍

What kind of line are you guys taking through the 2 right handers after the hotel hairpin? I feel like I'm loosing a ton of time through there and have not been able to find a line through there that feels fast. Can't decide if its faster to let it drift wide into that little runoff area and then cut hard for the corner or take a shorter mid track line through there...

This combo is driving me nuts, Sunday night I could run consistent T1's in the 27.1XX with a 26.9 thrown in here and there, tonight it was a Christmas miracle to run a 27.3 :yuck:
