Latest splits, really struggling to get a handle on this beast.

Some improvement. I will always and forever hate sector 1 on this track.

What is active steering guys? for a minute I was thinking asm and then srf but nope it's none of them... what does it do and where is the option for it? new one to me??? so please help a noob :dopey:

Thanks in advance 👍

edit: nice vid Chris, car looks nice and balanced here 👍

I didnt see anyone answer your question Ron.

They are refering to active steering strong.

You can set it when you first enter a track when it gives you tire choice and all that jazz in a big black looking box. If you really dont know its like super pro traction control. I never used it until I saw Zoky use it in a seasonal and at first to be honest with you I felt he was cheating. lol

What does it do? It lets you put the hammer down more out of the slow stuff basically. You pay for it tho it feels like someone else is driving the car with you at first reaching over and tugging on the wheel is how it feels to me.

You can get use to it tho not even notice it after awhile. Sometimes you go so much quicker with it its worth the hassle at first getting use to it.

When to use it and not is the question. I hated it at rome last tuning TT. I had to be so precise any advantadge it gave was lost.

Seems you also have to tune specifically for it requires a "Strong tune" as I call them. Just plain old turning it on dont seem to really help on an already good tune for not having it on.

Only good for oversteering rear wheel drive cars on exits.

I don't know if you feel the same way, but my opinion on Active Steering when on the DS3 was for the most part, it was actually slower. But as I've been using the wheel, it seems to be more of an advantage.

If i do a seasonal TT and the fastest guy is using it and destroyin I use it. Last time I got top ten was at HSR and I drove a DS3 strong tune and I beat the next fastest DS3 driver by 5 tenths.

It can work sometimes very well but its rare. I never figured out when and how to know excactly when to try it for sure but super oversteery...yeah in the WRS I always do try it after trying a good tune with it off.

Edit: Oh I found you can make easy fun money at a seasonal race driving around nurburgring it was paying half a million a lap...I hadnt signed in for a long time if you have and for what 5 days now its probably a million a lap?

3.6 million?! What is the quickest way to make this amount? Unless someone wants to be a babe and glitch one to me. :P

You will get the credits quick doing the seasonals, don't be lazy :sly:

These cars can't be gifted as they are over a million credits

New splits, better T1, T3 & OA.

Wasn't a real pretty lap, was tossing the car around more than I like. But it's my best lap yet, maybe that's the trick with this thing.

...and you're 2 tenths up on me at the T2 split. 0.15 quicker through sector 2? You sure you've got SRF off and are running the correct specs? If so, my apologies and fair go but this aint an easy combo and you seem to be punching well above your normal weight with those splits.

Thanks Vagabond. I went in this AM to check my settings and you are absolutely correct. I found several problems with my settings that would certainly disqualify my run.

I have removed my times, and would like to appologize to the entire WRS organization for posting times before ensuring that I was in complete compliance with the event regulations. I assure you it will never happen again.

Stuff happens Con Rollins besides by the end of the week you have a chance to go faster, I would think theres a good chance so dont sweat it.

Geeze last week I almost posted split from racing tires myself I dont know how I read racing hard not sports hard but I did. lol

I then thought wait man Im 1 second faster than anyone who posted so far each sector? Ok im good at the track I like to think but that good? haha

No D1s had tried so maybe but I checked first before actually submiting the post. haha

Not doing so hot this week I have 1 goal to be able to drive like a D2 driver by the end.

I dont want to post splits until I feel I am.:)

If your a DS3 driver looking for a decent tune sorry Im not your man this week for sure.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Jack. Normally, I would have been totally suspicious of my times being so good, but as they were still overall short of the d1 guys, and I have been racing GT500 cars for the last year before joining WRS, (I know this car is not GT500, but is very close in character to the NSX's) I thought it was just coming to me.:dunce:

I fixed the settings and tried a quick lap or two this morning and discovered I have a lot of work to do.:yuck:

It would be criminal of me not to run a WRS event that includes the F1 :D Will give this a try tonight.

Thanks Vagabond....
No worries - makes me feel bad for you as the bearer of bad tidings but its best to be sure. Don't beat yourself up about it though - you're not the first nor will be the last. Even a few of our fastest members have made that mistake along the way. :sly:

And call me Chris :) Good luck taming this bugger 👍

I have a setup I'm happy with now I think:

Max aero

0/0
16.0/16.0
7/7
7/7
7/7
2.0/1.0
0.00/0.00

LSD 7/11/5

BB 4/1 ABS 10

On active steering (sorry Ron didn't mean to ignore you mate :guilty:) -

Its a trade off with most RWD cars, or cars that can have oversteer (either lift off or power on). On the one hand, its easier to keep the car under control on corner exits when you put the power down - the trade off is if the car is well balanced during turn in (trailing throttle), active steering actually induces understeer. Best use of AS I feel is for a car that has lift-off oversteer, such as the Lotus Elise or MR2, since it helps balance turn in and allows earlier throttle application. For something like this McLaren, I'm using a mild setting so the car still has 'pointy' turn in but is less inclined to get away at the rear under power. Strong setting feels to me to induce too much understeer and I end up lighting up the front tyres too much in the high speed corner entries.

Shuffling the mistakes around a bit again, but they tend to get smaller and smaller :)

32.895
23.982
24.894

edit: Chris, 4/1 BB and abs 10? Hmm, I find some of my fastest splits are when I brake into a slide on corner entry... I'm on 5/4 BB now with 5 LSD decel. :odd:

What are you running for the transmission if you don't mind me asking? Finally got the car so want to give it a few laps :)

Tranny trick, set final so top speed (top right) is 211mph. About a million gear changes but its working ok for me I think. :)

Thanks Chris 👍👍👍 for the usual great setup, tried for two days and was so off pace that i didn´t put splits :guilty:, but after half a hour with it already saw a mid 1.22 at T3 so going to give this a go this night 👍

First splits

T1: 33.196
T2: 24.318
T3: 24.893

But that chicane on T4 :banghead:

So damn frustrating, this lap I totally ballsed up the ending and only gained .014 at the line, I have 10 laps within 1 tenth of a second and none of them have 4 good sectors in a row. Had at least 5 mid 1:22s and a single 1:22.4 all botched somewhere in the last few turns....

I'm using 6/3 BB and strong active steering and none of the settings I posted originally :)

Edit: Erm, where's the shortcut in sector 3? Jonas is about 8 car lengths faster than anybody else....

I've always had trouble with this track. So, this is a good excuse to spend a bit more time and learn it. Took a tune from a previous post and use a auto tranny to let me concentrate on the lines and I've seen a steady improvement. A terrible sector 1 (fish-tailing all over) and passable rest gave me my best yet.

34.649
24.939
25.837

If only I can string a clean lap, I'm sure I can find about 0.5s more.

Update: Found almost a full sec. New goal: another 3/10ths

34.046
24.724
25.389

33.836
24.536
25.533

This is good enough

As much as want to beat you biffy :P, I know I'm not gona having enough time to take part this week and be competive. So goodluck everyone looks like a great event 👍

Stuck with auto transmission while waiting for replacement paddles kit, but still managed to make some improvements. I still see about 0.5 on the track so more work on this later in the week:

33.410
24.397
25.055

Last night splits, but already starting to see sub .33 at T1, and can be much faster on T2 so still lots of room to improvement.

Thanks again Chris, car is now much more stable 👍

T1: 33.164
T2: 24.324
T3: 24.865

Finally have some free time to race.
I'll give this one a try and post my splits when I wake up.
Expect them to be quick ;) haha

It's a special path that you unlock by beating schumi in a teammate challenge in F1 2011. :sly:

No but seriously the only thing I can think of is that when you enter schumacher-S try to put the left wheels on the grey mesh surface. Far enough left so you don't bounce off the kerb, but not too far so you touch the grass and lose traction. If you hit that narrow section just right you can carry much more speed without sliding into the sand on the right side. I think in my current posted lap I maintained 206 km/h+ through there.

I spent about 2 hrs trying beat my ghost yesterday to no avail, I think I'm going to build me a "V Rocket" and giver a run. I hope I can find something in the setup that can give me so more speed. I just have to try to figure out the Yanaran trail through Shumi 👍 because buddy "Mill" is so snappy in T3

I ran this combo for the first time earlier for about 40 minutes and I'm only a few tenths of Millross's pace so early signs are good. I'll get some splits up tomorrow.
