What is active steering guys? for a minute I was thinking asm and then srf but nope it's none of them... what does it do and where is the option for it? new one to me??? so please help a noob
Thanks in advance 👍
edit: nice vid Chris, car looks nice and balanced here 👍
I didnt see anyone answer your question Ron.
They are refering to active steering strong.
You can set it when you first enter a track when it gives you tire choice and all that jazz in a big black looking box. If you really dont know its like super pro traction control. I never used it until I saw Zoky use it in a seasonal and at first to be honest with you I felt he was cheating. lol
What does it do? It lets you put the hammer down more out of the slow stuff basically. You pay for it tho it feels like someone else is driving the car with you at first reaching over and tugging on the wheel is how it feels to me.
You can get use to it tho not even notice it after awhile. Sometimes you go so much quicker with it its worth the hassle at first getting use to it.
When to use it and not is the question. I hated it at rome last tuning TT. I had to be so precise any advantadge it gave was lost.
Seems you also have to tune specifically for it requires a "Strong tune" as I call them. Just plain old turning it on dont seem to really help on an already good tune for not having it on.
Only good for oversteering rear wheel drive cars on exits.
I don't know if you feel the same way, but my opinion on Active Steering when on the DS3 was for the most part, it was actually slower. But as I've been using the wheel, it seems to be more of an advantage.
3.6 million?! What is the quickest way to make this amount? Unless someone wants to be a babe and glitch one to me.
...and you're 2 tenths up on me at the T2 split. 0.15 quicker through sector 2? You sure you've got SRF off and are running the correct specs? If so, my apologies and fair go but this aint an easy combo and you seem to be punching well above your normal weight with those splits.
Stuff happens Con Rollins besides by the end of the week you have a chance to go faster, I would think theres a good chance so dont sweat it.
Geeze last week I almost posted split from racing tires myself I dont know how I read racing hard not sports hard but I did. lol
I then thought wait man Im 1 second faster than anyone who posted so far each sector? Ok im good at the track I like to think but that good? haha
No D1s had tried so maybe but I checked first before actually submiting the post. haha
Not doing so hot this week I have 1 goal to be able to drive like a D2 driver by the end.
I dont want to post splits until I feel I am.
If your a DS3 driver looking for a decent tune sorry Im not your man this week for sure.
No worries - makes me feel bad for you as the bearer of bad tidings but its best to be sure. Don't beat yourself up about it though - you're not the first nor will be the last. Even a few of our fastest members have made that mistake along the way. Thanks Vagabond....

And call me Chris Good luck taming this bugger 👍
I have a setup I'm happy with now I think:
Max aero
0/0
16.0/16.0
7/7
7/7
7/7
2.0/1.0
0.00/0.00
LSD 7/11/5
BB 4/1 ABS 10
On active steering (sorry Ron didn't mean to ignore you mate ) -
Its a trade off with most RWD cars, or cars that can have oversteer (either lift off or power on). On the one hand, its easier to keep the car under control on corner exits when you put the power down - the trade off is if the car is well balanced during turn in (trailing throttle), active steering actually induces understeer. Best use of AS I feel is for a car that has lift-off oversteer, such as the Lotus Elise or MR2, since it helps balance turn in and allows earlier throttle application. For something like this McLaren, I'm using a mild setting so the car still has 'pointy' turn in but is less inclined to get away at the rear under power. Strong setting feels to me to induce too much understeer and I end up lighting up the front tyres too much in the high speed corner entries.
What are you running for the transmission if you don't mind me asking? Finally got the car so want to give it a few laps
About a million gear changes but its working ok for me I think.
It would be criminal of me not to run a WRS event that includes the F1 Will give this a try tonight.
Expect them to be quick haha
I'll be sitting out the rest of this TT due to a bad hip.
It's a special path that you unlock by beating schumi in a teammate challenge in F1 2011.Edit: Erm, where's the shortcut in sector 3? Jonas is about 8 car lengths faster than anybody else....
