First 20 in, have a final about a quarter sec faster but wasn't clean. Had to really go back and look at turn 1 on this one. Don't think I can get much closer without leaving paint behind... :scared:

Did some film study, picked up a few things here and there and this is what I have so far.

It's really frustrating because my T3 times are improving but my T1 and T2 times are around those figures consistently.:grumpy:

Mind if I ask where you found video? I've been looking for some myself to study but have come up empty.

WOAH! I thought I was the only one coming close to the wall haha. This challenge is really pushing me to do better.

I hope I continue to see photos of how close we come to leaving a mark behind .

Hey Phil! I'll trade you my T2 time for your T1 time!

I don't want to speak for him, but we have TONS of videos of past weeks WRS time trials, in the GTP_WRS Videos thread. Use the 1st post, or the search function in that thread to look for London, and I'm sure you'll find some nuggets. Thanks to Dan and Speedy!

Also, the thread for Week 24: Running through London Topless, where you might find discussion of techniques:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=215288

As well as the Week 24 results thread, where all posted replays live for that week (which were used to make the video in the thread above):
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=216744

These replays should still be downloadable, if the youtube video isn't big enough for ya.

Thanks Gravatron, appreciate the tip.

My shiny new G27 showed up last night. Only had about 45 minutes to mess with it, but its fantastic.

Super smooth and so quiet. Brake and throttle apply more gradually, which is very handy. Steering is better than my old wheel too, mostly because the bushings were so worn that it had about an inch of sideways movement.

I was getting mid 9's toward the end of the session, just need a little more time to get used to the brake feel.

...just need a little more time to get used to the brake feel.

This is what took me the longest switching from a DF-Pro to the G27. Full-stomp braking was not too bad, although it requires a bit more effort. It was the subtle brake brushes took a while to adapt to. But the feel from the wheel and sureness of the paddle shifters is just awesome.

As for London, I'm again struggling to sew together a good lap. I can do the odd high x3.8xx in T1 and x4.8xx in T2, but I've improved my PB 2 tenths and ended up losing 6 hundredths as a combined Split 2. My efforts to get a head start on Ren and Porsche is not going to plan:nervous:

At least this time you will not have to worry about the track boundries :)

Are you kidding? Now I watch any improved lap twice as we get quite close to the walls on this one. 👍

I personally can't believe the difference in B/B. If I set up for T1, I lose a little in T2 and alot in T3. If I set up for T3, I lose a tonne in T1. I resorted to changing B/B after completing T1, but can't get it right. Sticking with 2/7 ABS 2 for now. I prefer the rear to slide on entry, as getting back to the throttle is easier if your a gas masher like me :guilty: (it's the quarter mile thing)

13.871

Feeling better today (knock on wood) so did some more laps but found it very hard to do much better. Half a tenth lower at the line.

14.021
15.133

BB 4 6 ABS 1 did a few 13.8xxs to t1 with that.

13.908
15.167

BB 5/5, ABS 1. I've tried 4/6 with some success but anything else and I can't stop or I tail-slap the walls.

Dropped half a second at the line over my previous. Saw a .9 in T1 and I've got a good couple tenths in T2 but it will be tough to string it together with what must have been, for me, a killer T3.

Thought I would mention to watch that your mirrors don't hit the wall. In the previous picture in this thread the mirror appears to be in contact with the wall. Hard to tell, might need a different angle to be sure. I would hate to see anyone get a red flag from a pesky mirror!

How is it possible to change the brake balance in arcade mode? I think this is where I am losing time :grumpy:

Go into settings and add "RA" to your G27. You'll need 1 button for on/off two for scroll up/down and two for +/-. I have the D pad for the scroll and +/- and X for on/off.

I'm confused about something concerning the live timing monitor. I'll use my current splits as posted for example. Saved ghost replay and it is titled best lap xxx. When I go to watch the replay via the timing monitor, it giving me splits for a lap that is almost .200 slower. It is like this for all my saved ghost replays. I'm I missing or not understanding something. I ask this because I was just following my ghost from my latest posted splits, beat it in all sectors (green sector times displayed) including lap time but the timing monitor is not showing that lap or my improvement on my sector times. Its showing a slightly slower lap. Really getting fustrated as I know my sector times are improving as indicated my the green split times but the timing monitor is not showing it. Yes, I've been saving ghost replay. This was an 11 lap stint, with the last lap being the best, or so I thought. Help me understand this please.

The replay shows all the laps starting on the first so you have to fast forward with the on screen arrow to get to the right lap you want :)

What are you basing this assumption on?

The time shown in the top right hand corner of the screen at the start of the saved ghost replay lap is the PRIOR fastest laptime. Is that what's causing your confusion?

When you go into the live timing monitor, it will show the splits from the prior lap of the run as well, and those are "highlighted" with updatd splits as you cross the timing marks during the lap. As mentioned, you can now speed up this process by clicking the "Fast Forward" arrow, which will take you to the start of the next split, while updating the split for the prior sector. So, for example, if you click it twice on this track, it will now show T1 and T2 from your fast lap, while the 3rd split time will still be greyed out and from your prior lap.

Hope that helps. 👍

I tried that and all it does is fast forward thru the one lap. Its only showing one lap in the columns, but it says 11 laps ran up top. But yea, it only fast forwards through 1 lap.

If that's happening for you on your saved replay, then you are saving the wrong replay. You must save the ghost replay, which is only one hotlap.

OK to watch your replay from the in race screen before exiting, or OK to save both, if that's what you want to do, but when we request a replay, we expect it to be the ghost.

Well! Finding London quite difficult but, posting some early splits:

13.901
15.333

I can't see Team GB getting another gold through me!

Ok, I got it now. I'm such a dumbass, lol. One more stupid question tho. Am I correct in assuming that these events are not considered a conventional time trial in the sense that the best total lap time doesn't top the leaderboards. We are just adding the two sector times here for the leaderboard...right? So the last sector (there are 3 right?) or last part of the lap doesn't count for anything except for coming to the start/finish line in preparation for the next lap. Am I understanding this all corectly.

Het Cargorat! The final results are based on the complete lap time. It's just that everyone is kept in the dark regarding each others final splits.

That's what makes it exiting. You have to submit your total lap time. So the last sector counts. By not knowing what everybody else is doing in that last sector, makes it so exiting. After participating, the first thing i do after a wake up on Tuesday. Looking at the results. Can make or brake my Tuesday
