You could make oink really mad, Joe...just switch to pink for your team! :D

Just a heads-up that our team isn't going to use the one I gave to Tim last night:

...we're going to switch to something without red or blue. Maybe khaki. :dunce:

Right so oink can have his colors. I'm up for anything that looks good except pink. I have nothing against pink, just don't like it on a car body. Rims on the other hand.

Maybe if we choose purple Kevin will actually stop ignoring my PMs trying to recruit him for Team USA.

I do not want that.
Maybe if we did go with pink, drivers might think its Wes and make some mistakes for me.:sly: Just kidding.

I will find another paint scheme for Team USA blue(unless someone beats me to it). I will just go random, and if nobody likes it we'll keep trying.:)

The link beneath practise board 'View Raw Logs Here' doesn't work.
Just for the record

Thanks, it's now fixed. Won't be very interesting though until people post some data to the form. For now, it's just blank.

Came to think of something while I was getting ready for the golf course earlier..

The handicap system, it can be really flawed.
It's like when I first got my green card. The first round you play, you sit at hcp 54, and to get the white card, where you're at hcp 36 would only require a decent player 1 round.

And like in my case, my hcp says 36 since I have'nt played a single round since (that allows me to drop my hcp) then, but do in general reach results that would translate to something like hcp 20, it would be extremely hard to beat me since my hcp is'nt representative to my level of play.

Like in the divisions here in our registry.
Some members only do it fast to get a GTP_Tag account, while others might plow hours and hours in to it, and probably got a lower hcp-number than what he's able to pull off in a race.

I don't want to sound negative, but was just raising the question.
Hope that's ok.

Ofcourse, this is'nt something that I care so much about that it would keep me from racing, just putting it out there to (perhaps) concider. 👍

Now we have decided. Nordic Team car is in my profile shared. Tim you could do your thing...

Our car:
-body: White
-rims: Silver Metallic

I'm not really sure what the Nordic Team's color should be... Maybe a mix of red and blue (purple)?

Every handicap system is imperfect and has flaws. As we said before, nothing is set in stone so I appreciate you all expressing your opinion now while there is time to discuss and even make changes. That being said...

I'll repeat what I said before... No handicap means we also shouldn't allow multi country teams. How would that be fair? Compare PURE NA to Team USA and Team Canada. We could create an NA team and grab gooners (and T-L if he were to show) and combine with our two fastest US drivers to create a faster team. That would defeat the main goal of this event.

I would rather allow PURE to create their super multi national teams because I know they would enjoy more racing on a team that way. In fact when I sent Eddie and Tim a PM inviting them I suggested they do. But to allow this I think a conservative handicap is the counter-weight.

(And by the way we scrapped all plans for on track handicaps)

The UK team (or teams) will be a good head to head match for a PURE super team. All our other teams have been leveled out on purpose.. See the dutchies and USA teams.

So we could go a few ways.

1. Stay like it is and make sure the handicap multiplier is appropriate. Identify any clear handicap outliers. Frankly, I don't see a singe person on the list that is severely under qualified... DrWatson is maybe the most. There are maybe a few that are over qualified. I'm willing to flatten the curve a bit... That's easy enough.

2. Scrap the handicap and look at the team rules. Either allow all teams to reorganize into regional teams with true A/B/C teams or require all single nation teams.

Personally I vote for option 1. Why? This is a one day "tourney" and there are only two rounds. We won't find the fastest country in the world perfectly with that setup. The primary goal is to have fun and focus on team based strategy and tactics (even in quali) and celebrate 100 weeks of race organization and promotion by 3d3 racing. (And have some awesome racing along the way of course).

Next year we are going to extend this and build a bigger series with a bigger structure spanning multiple weeks (months) and its likely the focus will be different and not in include handicaps.

Anyway, I welcome more opinions... I see the benefits to both sides of the argument. We have time to discuss, but the discussion isn't going to drag on long. By July 7 or so we need to have the rules set in stone so teams can plan accordingly.

EDIT:

While we are talking tournament structure, we're considering removing the randomizer to determine the lounge for round 1 and instead:

Seed each team based on their average quali lap across team drivers (average of top 3 qualifiers per team). Then set up the lounges for round 1 according to those team seeds. For example, if there are 12 teams, split into 3 lounges of 4 teams each based on their qualification seed:

Lounge A: 1, 6, 7, 12
Lounge B: 2, 5, 8, 11
Lounge C: 3, 4, 9, 10

Round 2 would lounge assignment determined by round 1 performance (points total) as originally planned:

Lounge A: Top 4
Lounge B: Middle 4
Lounge C: Bottom 4

Tim (WRP001), I did'nt intend to cause a hcp discussion. I just wanted it to be concidered, that's all.
If you did concider it, and decided to go with it, I'm perfectly fine with that mate! 👍

And the discussion about creating "super" teams, cause every group/gang/community could. I don't ask in the name of competiveness, I just wanted it to be concidered.

I'll participate and have loads of fun no mather what!! 👍

hey now... gooners has more sand bags than I do. :D

To be serious though as long as the handicapping is conservative all it does is encourage more variety and participation so no harm IMO.
(there is also some irony that the NA "super team" would be faster as all USA... Wii wants to race and we don't have enough Canadians to go full Maple Leaf, so Wii saves outlaw4rc from having to run the qualifier (which he really doesn't want to do) :P )

Nothing wrong with discussion so don't take it that way. I'm not upset, just giving some background as to why we set things up the way we did. Always open to ideas and alternatives to make the event (or any other) as good as we can make it. When an organizer thinks they know everything they are done improving and I know I don't know anything everything so I hope to keep getting better. :sly:

Mind if I join this team, used to live in England. Now in America but still a brit at heart?

I'm sure it would be possible. But I think if we can fill the team with guys living in Great Britain, they might take priority, given it is a GB team. But should we not get 4 guys then I'm sure that would be ok.

Alright sounds good

I'm thinking then, having seen the colour for the UK team, we use different tones/textures of paint in a British racing green tone, so they can be seen to be different on track, but have that same look. I'm browsing some colours now. Could even have on use a chrome green, if there is a suitable one and everyone has the DLC. Or can you gift DLC painted cars?

Edit: Alternatively we could just use differing rims, a bit like the 2 Dutch teams.

Yes, you can gift DLC painted cars.

Awesome. I guess it's time to start practicing then? Team USA Blue - Add my GTP account. We can figure out all the minute details in a group. 👍

Well you'll have to start without me. I can't until July 19th.

I was looking through a few paints and there are some with GB themed names like "Silverstone something" and I saw an "Inverness" one. There's probably more, maybe we could go down that route?
