GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

I am in!! The more I participate in GTP WRS, the more I realize just how much more room for improvement I have.

One question, Is a microphone a must have for getting the most out of this? If so, can anyone recommend a set up? Something I can purchase in the US?

Thanks in advance!!

A mic is not a must but you can get one pretty cheap. I think they are sold at about 15-20$.
It's just a universal bluetooth headset for phones. Works fine, I had one for a good amount of time.

Thanks for the heads-up PM, Sjaak. The new format is more to my liking, however, I am still recuperating [feet] and still very limited to seat time. I may pop in and give a watch providing the room is not full.

I think I'll be more quiet, since it's earlier , but as always "you'll see me, in your rear view".

This is interresting! Thanks for the PM , I would love to sign in as a student and try it the only drawback is that 7pm is still way too early for my Gt5 online session that I do almost daily I usually start at 10pm GMT and I keep on to about 2am GMT, and I race under my national flag not the GTP one unless its the WRS TT . But ill do my best to attend, the question is how?

I'd like to do this - not sure if I can say for definite about next week because I'm busy that day and not sure when I'll be able to get online. I'm new to the WRS, and I have a weird feeling I've been placed too high - but guess that's just nerves (?). I like Saturdays better than Wednesdays anyway - Wed eve is no good for me, so a race on Saturday would be better for me.

Can I be in reserve for the next one? And will know for definite about the next one, I should think.

Thanks for the interest Guys.👍

The March races will be used to finalise the format,so please step in when ever you have time.:)

I'm a bit confused; when's the start? Same as normal (8 pm GMT), or one hour before ?

Practice hour starts at 7 PM GMT or earlier, when someone opens the louche.
Qualification is planned at 8 PM GMT.
The main race begins after the qualification.

So, it's the same as before the "update", right? - Thanks for the answer, by the way 👍.

Sorry for any inconvenience but I have to withdraw my earlier statement about the times.

Blame it on my Dutch weirdness :dopey:

After the Academy rookie races start the practice for the Parity Races at 09:00 PM GMT.
(Guys,still room to sign up. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=273719 )

It will be a tight schedule so The Academy will be an hour earlier.

Practice: 06:00 PM GMT (19:00 Europe Continent)
Qualification: 07:00 PM GMT (20:00 Europe Continent)

I will change the OP.

Otherwise it's just me being drunk*. *More likely tired, as I'm a teetotal and never touch alcohol. - Back on topic:

I'm looking forward to becoming a "rookie", next Saturday :sly:.

Like the job you guys doing very much. Hope that i have some saturdays time to visit the Academy races.

Where do I see the sign up list? On the day of the race, where do I join? Sorry, first online race for me. Thanks in advance for the help.

Very nice to see more people are registering 👍

@Dean, looking forward to race you again, we can expect some great battle's aswell, just this time it won't be top division battling for the podium ;) Kind of missed you in the endurro ;)

I'm also looking forward to racing you, Frank! - I'm sure we'll see some "low division" podiums :D:tup:.

I couldn't really find the time for the endurance :indiff:. I'll try looking for a spot in my calendar, for the next 👍.

Guys I asked GTP_Oink,aka Paul:) to make two guides on video.

Check out the result.......brilliant 👍

I added both in the OP.

Formation Lap

Credit to GTP_Oink

  • A steward will exit track, view the live timing monitor and announce the order after qualification while all drivers remain on track.
  • All drivers should exit track after the order is announced and enter the pits. When all drivers are in the pits a steward will start the race.
  • After the system places you on the grid drivers should proceed into stagger formation in order.
  • Pole sitter will choose his/her preferred side of the track.
  • There should be no overlap between cars in the staggered formation.
  • Speed limit on formation lap is 62 mph / 100 km/h and pole sitter should maintain this speed (or less) to keep pack together, in particular in the final sector.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures are NOT allowed during the formation lap.
  • Pole sitter will exit the last corner and take care to give enough time to allow all cars behind to safely exit the final corner.
  • Start marker for Trial Mountain is the start/finish line.
  • The pole sitter should start the race by accelerating to race pace at the identified start marker (track specific and may or may not be the start/finish line).
  • All other drivers should accelerate after the driver in front of you does so.
  • No passing is allowed before the start marker.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated.

How to set up RA Functions

Finding the RA functions and map them on the controller or wheel can be hard, till now.

Awesome Paul!

Wish I could join you guys again this week. Very rarely will Saturdays work for me. I will try to join in late, not sure what time I will be back from Karate classes.

I've signed up as an instructor for this week. I've put my chances at 60%, those might get better as we get closer to the weekend.

Very nice video Paul. I think we found our official WRS-Online/3D3 videographer. :dopey:

Glad I could provide an example of "how to handle messing up badly and causing just a little havoc" for you.

Haha! I couldn't help but make an example of you ;) But I must say, you really did deal with that situation extremely smoothly so hat off. Im sure it isn't always that smooth when a driver loses it that early on.

And of course, by all means if any one here would like to "commission" a video just like these or the one I did for the Parity Racing, or any purposes really, just send me a message just like Sjaak did, and I'll always be happy to help.
