GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

Seriously thinking about getting in on this one. My boy will be at his moms this weekend so I'll have time. Just hesitant because I did crash a bit during the TT , probably trying to over drive the car at my not so skill level, but hey i just might have reginners luck on my side. I really haven't been in to many online races with others on the track other than private races with my stepdad and a couple friends.

The Dev league is all about learning and you can't learn if you're not participating. It's a twitchy car on a rough track but you can do it. You'll make mistakes but so will others and you can capitalize on the mistakes of others if you're driving calmly. Just remember that over driving the car won't help you. Drive smooth, be more deliberate with your accelerator, and brake a little earlier, concentrate on getting the line through the turn and remember that in almost every case the exit speed of your turn is considerably more important than your entry speed. Good luck.

As odd as it is, my car won't get up to 250 BHP, nor 548 PP. Even after a full break-in (300 kilometre) and all allowed upgrades, plus oil change, it just stays at 246 BHP/545 PP... Any ideas why :boggled:?

I've added all, in the allowed categories. Full aero and no limiter either.

Could it be because the car had been driven ~120 kilometre, before I made the Race Modification, and drove the "missing" 180 kilometre, today?

Ah yes, a full break in is at 300km.

EDIT: Re-read your post.

I think it doesn't really matter when you do the RM to the car as long as there is 300km on the counter your car should be at max power.

I'll drive it another 120 kilometres, and then we'll see, what happens.

- Yes, the oil is fresh.

Thanks for the help so far, Chris .

Thanks Majed, but I don't think I'll need it 👍. I've gotten up to 250 BHP and 547 PP, so I think I'm good to go.

:gtpflag:.

I believe that the mileage before the RM does not count. It starts back at zero in regards to breaking it in again.

I think you're right, Al. There can't really be any other explanation to it :D.

New car Dealership -> Lotus -> Elise 111R '04 -> buy it and then move with it to GT Auto and let it be Race Modified.

Once that's done put it on the B-Spec Indy 500 for 80-ish laps, change it's oil again and you have a fully broken in 111R '04 RM. :)

Or, someone could send you one...

I actually have one from the new dealership that I modified just that way. I was assuming there is an RM version different from that one, since the models in the event image have numbers.

An upgraded 111R and a 111R RM are basically the same?

*EDIT* Nevermind. Your instructions just clicked. Thanks! I had forgotten about the RM button in GT Auto.

wish you luck it's a hard track / car / tire combo so might post my setup tomorrow

Thanks, mika. I've actually driven the track a lot thanks to the TTs, so I'm expecting more from me. :)

That's exactly my problem. I haven't raced too much online so I inevitably make poor decisions in traffic. ;)

Hey guys. :) What exactly is required/expected in the Instructor role? I might be free for the Academy time-slot to help out but just wanted to get up to speed with what's involved.

Whatever you are willing to do really to help out. Primarily give hints and tips and answer questions.

If possible the feature instruction would be to run a few sample laps. At some point the instructor takes to the track solor and everyone goes to "watch race" mode and observes the instructor run a couple laps. The first lap is done stop-n-go and the instructor stops and discusses each section/corner and their approach/what they are trying to do/setup next corner etc. After that run 2-3 example hot laps at full speed. Short debrief. Then the students get back to warming up for the race.

Other than that watch and give tips. Instructors can't participate in the D-League Feature race, but they can take part in the sprints that follow, usually handicapping their cars a bit.

We used to do "drive alongs" where we would follow drivers, but it's quite difficult if the lounge is full and the example lap system works a bit better.

Having a mic as instructor is required given the above.

I'm in.

I can't participate this week because of my Back and hip injury, but would like to watch and learn! Will that be a OK??

I'm in but I think I'll just stay at the back of the pack mostly, unless of course opportunity presents itself to make a clean pass or 3. :)

Is it just me, or have the registration-board been cleared :odd:?

Indeed, it's weird. Though, I think Al is right about the distance-reset. I mean, what else could it be :P?

Looks good to me.
It is possible however that Google was a bit slower than usual for a moment and the automated pic grabber took the screenshot before the table was fully loaded.

I guess so... Everything's good here too, now 👍.

And sorry for all the problem-posts :boggled:.

Welcome to all racers who are new to the Academy.:)

I like to give some parts of the Academy a highlight and an advice to read the first post of this thread carefully.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7786365#post7786365

Just to avoid any confusion.
Of course questions always can be asked, any time.👍

Highlights:

Qualification Procedures

  • Type: Live Online Single Stint - No pits
  • Length: Single out-lap and 2 timed hot-laps
  • Groups: Group qualifying will be used if the grid size is large enough to warrant in order to avoid traffic during qualification.
  • Notes: Drivers not in the lounge by the time the first driver has entered the track after reset will not be allowed to qualify. They are welcome to join the race, but will start at the back of the grid. If we are running multiple qualification groups and the driver enters before the last group has entered track an exception will be made.

Formation Lap

Credit to GTP_Oink

  • A steward will exit track, view the live timing monitor and announce the order after qualification while all drivers remain on track.
  • All drivers should exit track after the order is announced and enter the pits. When all drivers are in the pits a steward will start the race.
  • After the system places you on the grid drivers should proceed into stagger formation in order.
  • Pole sitter will choose his/her preferred side of the track.
  • There should be no overlap between cars in the staggered formation.
  • Speed limit on formation lap is 62 mph / 100 km/h and pole sitter should maintain this speed (or less) to keep pack together, in particular in the final sector.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures are NOT allowed during the formation lap.
  • Pole sitter will exit the last corner and take care to give enough time to allow all cars behind to safely exit the final corner.
  • Start marker for Deep Forest Reverse is the start/finish line.
  • The pole sitter should start the race by accelerating to race pace at the identified start marker (track specific and may or may not be the start/finish line).
  • All other drivers should accelerate after the driver in front of you does so.
  • No passing is allowed before the start marker.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated.

See you all track :)

what happened to the 2pm practice that used to be posted?

Edit: its still there I see.

So anyone going to be there?
