He's got a good point though, we could look into that option. But I don't think it would really becone a concern, we can all pay attantion to our mirrors on our outlaps.

I dont think it does either, or at least I haven't been able to extarct a significantly better time from a low fuel run...

Well if you have low fuel your engine won't perform as good, I think, and if GT5 simulates that

I firmly believe the game accounts for fuel weight. :) try taking a FGT around Indy. The lower the fuel gets the looser. Then I noticed at the F1 of Monaco we was testing and times dropped with fuel.

Think the viper gets loose on lower fuel too. I try to top it off with a lil extra with out sitting when pitting.

Fuel level should have no relevance to the engines output. Considering you are not on the verge of running out.

Also fwiw fuel weighs around 8lbs per gallon. So if we use 10 gallon that's 80 pounds. Pretty substantial amount of weight.

Well that's what F1 2010 does because there's no refueling during the race in F1

Wondered where you got that from. Figured it had some merit. :)

That you speak of, not knowing for sure, sounds like a tuning trick. Basically the car sources the fuel level as a parameter. I assume they remove timing and fuel from the tune based on fuel levels. Which indeed reduces power and saves fuel.

Even if I have good amount of gas left, I'll put some in during pitting but so he can finish with the tires :)

Just remember that as your fuel gets lower, most likely your tires are becoming more worn also...

With the most recent update I think the fuel load is even more realistic. As owens said it changes the balance of the car, as the weight comes from the tank (changing the weight balance front/rear). At least what I've observed with the bentley.

I've noticed lower fuel= quicker lap time. However in GT5, since you can't actively play with fuel levels before races, the majority of the time you are on low gas, the tyres have already had the life taken out of them.

hey jav, if only like 8-10 people are going for this race would you consider moving this race to next week...

i'm not signing up for the race because i'm like 95% sure im not gonna make it...since i already got a paid holiday for monday i know i'll be out for a while sunday night

I base my opinion on fresh tires. :)

Scienterrific like.

The nerd in me also wants to know whether or not in game the fuel consumption model is affected by the amount of fuel you have in your car. You know, newtons laws etc.

I do know a ton of fuel was saved drafting during the 500. I was able to stretch the fuel milage and pit one less time then most. ;)

Now wether or not it drinks less as the weight comes of, I am not sure. I get a feeling the consumption is relative to throttle percent.

If that was the case you could shift to fifth and punch it and drink the same amount as full revs at WOT. So this source rpm and throttle percent. . Good thought Hon.

I watched the replay from Le Mans, and noticed the person in 3rd in the early part of the the race in GT1 had more Fuel on board as a result of being in the draft of the leading pair, which makes sense, in that being in the draft, you need less engine out put to maintain the same speed as the person in front.

I think fuel consumption is dependent on throttle position, as on pace laps, I try to shift in to as higher gear as possible to save fuel when cruising around. Looking back it's probably unwise as in this series ( and definitely in GT2), you are probably better off burning off the fuel as quickly as possible so that the car is lighter earlier so you don't take the life out of the tyre early doors.

But back on the point, I think the best way to measure fuel consumption relative to fuel weight of the car is to add ballast to the car and run from full tanks, and compare the fuel used in say 10 laps of Daytona Super speed way with the ballast on with the same car with ballast off. Then enter the pits and see how much fuel is needed to fill the car back to full.

Technically speaking, the heavier a car is , the more effort (or work) is needed to shift it to the same velocity in respect to a similar vehicle of lighter mass. Of course that is assuming both cars have the same Coefficient of drag and rolling resistance.

It's time to do some science!

Yeah but if you get down to say 50l left or even 75l where it starts making a difference why not just pit for new tires? Thats what I like to do for qualis...

Somewhere other than those 2 tracks? We've done them for both series this week and last week....

Nurb GP is the most balanced so it gives a good insight to how balanced the cars are...

Gatrs you weren't actually part of the testing process seeing as you decided not to be part of the unified GT1/GT2 regulations testing....they've been tested out solo and in a racing environment to be as even as possible, trust me.

I'm part of the GT2 regulations.
With a few exceptions that is. ;)

I was wondering 2 things:
-What do you think about a standing start? could be exciting for the last one?
-Also this is the final race of the season, we must celebrate... how about a couple of beers at the strippers? :sly: jk

I think we should give out awards like at the LeMons races.
Pour example: I got screwed. I almost made it. How the hell did I finish. Good sportsman. The peoples choice. The peoples choice is actually a bad one.
We vote on the person we hate the most and then smash up their car...
