I agree he's hard to navigate...you never know where he's gonna go or what he's gonna do.

That's why I suggest we help him out in some practice races. But he has to stay out of the actual races until he improves.

I think we can get him there, he just needs a little help.

That's my thought on it anyway.

Rob

I didn't realize I was holding you guys up. In addition, I can't see too much out of the sides of my car so I had to sorta guess based on my mirrors. I'd love to do a few practice races. Forgive me, because I have no racing or even DRIVING experience.

Edit: I can run ST until I am competitive if you guys want.

also im going to test the chevy later today just to see where i would fit in on GS just for the sake of my own personal evaluation lol and it would give everyone i little benchmark to smash ;)

if you want rejected id advise the Golf if you do it seems the easyest to drive fast atleast its the most forgiving on the limit....

The ST car might be a good idea.....also I drive from the bumper cam not in car.....maybe doing that would help you.

Like I said, I`m more that willing to help you out to get up to speed. Do you have a headset? If so we could run in my lounge sometime and I can talk you around and help you see things you should be seeing etc.

In general we don't have a problem with you being off the pace. We just need you to be smooth and predictable so we know what you're going to do, and we need you to be aware of who is around you on track and where they are in relation to you in the race.

Go slow to go fast........once you get the smooth part down you start to increase the pace. Biggest mistake almost everyone makes is trying to go as fast as the leaders right off the bat. Like everything else in life, you've got to learn first.

We'll see what we can sort out between us during the next few weeks to get you on pace and acceptable for the Grand Valley race.

Rob

He needs to understand the basics of racing. Until then, I say, he should just stay out. I get scared having him around, while other drivers, like you, I feel comfortable with.

im so with you guys on this because he wrecked me as i was putting him 2 laps down then he raced me as if he was fighting for the lead as i lapped him for the third and fourth times but let me pass with ease on fifth and sixth so he was getting it after he wrecked us i think he felt bad

sach22 also needs some practice before entering in a serious series
i am willing to help you guys in practice but if you continue in this series please respect the fact that the guy passing you is faster and don't try defending just hold your line and let the car pass without incident

Gotta change me to a Camaro don't you.

BTW the replay is pretty exciting at the front for the first 22 laps....and clean.

I should have 2 stopped.

ALSO.....what the heck button on the DFGT flashes the lights? I thought I was flashing the lights at the slower cars.....turns out I was turning my wipers on!! DOH!!

there was a mandatory 2 pit stops without pit windows

ok so i did a little test with a Camaro and some ST and the Gs camaro i got a 1:06.0 (there was a little more speed but i couldnt be arsed to put time into finding it) and 1:11s for the ST cars

so theres your benchmarks to aim for guys :D

No, we discussed that in the lobby before the race and decided to continue without any window or mandatory stops.

I'll see everyone around as we prep for Grand Valley. Drift, I'll be online sometime this week and we can do some running if you're around for my schedule, or Retro can help if his schedule makes more sense.

What track Paul??

@ Lucky.....As Jonerz says...there was no mandatory pitstops.....hence me shooting for a one stopper. Would have potentially worked out better had I not dropped it lap1 corner 1 and let you guys through! You still would have had me covered though....2 stops was the right strategy......too bad you got disconnected.

Never had any issue with Sach......he actually let me past at the hairpin onto the back straight PERFECTLY when I caught him. Cost both of us hardly any time.

Anyway, I think if we do some running with Drift, say in stock Miatas at Tuskuba we can give him a better idea of what he needs to do. I'll try and get in some practice with him in the next few weeks.

i didn't catch the no mandatory part only no pit windows but yea the 2 stops was the right strategy. the crazy part of my disconnect was that i was able to finish the race as if everyone else had been kicked. never even heard of anything like that happening ever i am so distrort over this d/c. i have no idea why this is the only series i have ever had a connection problem

i sent drift a p/m regarding helping him learn if he is willing we can really help him, anytime he wants we can get in a room and the more people that he gets to drive around will help so everybody let's help this guy out

Retro the times were for Grand Valley East the next race....

Retro the times were for Grand Valley East the next race....

I should have figured that but I thought the next race was the full Grand Valley so I was thinking "How the hell did he knock 45ish seconds off a lap!?"

Then I looked at the schedule and noticed my mistake.

I'll have a go and see what I can get down to.

Rob

WOW, :grumpy: Sounds like some people got their feelings hurt a bit this past race.

Chris, I had hoped to get online for this but after spending an entire day at Daytona racing my own car, (it was hot) I was spent. There was no way I could have been able to maintain a decent level of concentration that night.

As for the future races, every Saturday evening is more or less a hit or miss with me. I will continue to try and make it but can't make any promises. So, on that note, if you feel the need to put me down as an alternate, I understand. But I will still check in when I can every Saturday and if there's not a full ST field I'm hoping I can just join in.

👍 You Cool with that?

Jay
FWIW, I won two out of three of my races this weekend and was winning the third when the gearbox started acting up. :P

Hey, well done Jay! I'll throw you on the reserves, but we'll be glad to have you when you can make it.

Well Paul,

I've actually NEVER driven on Grand Valley East until last night.....

I posted a 1:06.6 on my 7th lap with the Camaro......and proceeded to get down to a 1:06.3. I haven't put any time into setup at all yet......I think mid to high 1:05s are quite realistic round there with the Camaro.

The tire wear is a bitch though.....If you don't set the time in your first 10 laps you're not going to......it goes rapidly downhill from there.

One thing to note.....and this goes for EVERYONE......make sure you practice online. For some reason the laptimes differ from offline practice.

2 weeks to practice for this one.....lets see how fast we can get!!

Rob

good to see my benchmarks proving useful :D i just did about 10 laps myself just to make sure i got one representitive lap up for you GS guys to aim at and also prove just because im in ST im not any slower than you GS guys :sly:

PVR Buddy.....that's all I have to say....PVR.

I'm actually having a hard time finding where I can watch this weekend's Petit LeMans in Canada.....doesn't seem to be broadcast anywhere.

Crap

I believe it will be on one of the Sportsnet channels, ALMS has a deal with them. They only showed three hours of Laguna, though. Fortunately, you can watch the full 1000 miles on americanlemans.com/live in Canada.

i will be recording the 1000 and watching following our race now that's dedication:)

EDIT: we should have taken next week off so everyone could watch the race not everybody has DVR

But the Petit Le Mans is harder to catch and it will be entering its critical stages right when we'd be racing. Bathurst on the other hand is on SPEED, which is easily DVRed by most, and it will only be in the early stages while we are racing.

Plus, I think Petit is going to be the far better race! ;)

Chris

I dont think I have DVR at all... :nervous: How do I know this?! :D Srry im a noob on this lol

ABC will have coverage of the little le mans Oct. 2 at 2pm PST

That's the tape delay. ESPN3.com (USA) and americanlemans.com/live have the full 1000 miles. Also, you can listen at radiolemans.com.

Chris

i have the best package direct tv offers but they don't carry ESPN3 i will peek in on the race via the internet but will watch the tape delay
