Why are you not racing? Just race man! Come on the more the better! :) Oh and yes I recommend buying a keyboard. I have the wireless keypad for the DS3, but its better if you get a USB keyboard as the keypad takes a while to get used to due to its small keys. You should have a Incident Report Form where any driver can just fill it out and that would be easy to check incidents. 👍

Good idea. I'll post an incident report form here and link to it in the main thread. For now, more early-bed for me.

Chris

Hey gents,

I will post the results (and therefore manufacturers and driver points) when I finish talking to a couple drivers. Based on the quality of driving there were no seismic shifts in the race but everyone can consider themselves on probation. If I see anyone making avoidable contact, taking undue risk in making a pass, or putting their car in a position on the race track that jeopardizes anyone else's race you will be removed from the series. Consider the mayhem at Daytona a warning.

Further, I will be posting the new race start procedure.

Finally, what does everyone think of separate GS and ST qualifying sessions? Especially at a place like Tsukuba I think the traffic there will be nutso and I don't want anyone losing their patience and threatening their place in the championship.

Well I guess my temper has finally cooled off since the race. Just joking, finally got a chance to post. But I was a little fumed after the race. First off rejekted nailed me as I was completely alongside him on lap 1 I'm a nose up on him on one of the main straights and he turns right into my front drivers side wheel. So I ran the 1st 10 laps with damage and was pissed. Secondly, I'd been saying all week long that I had a question about the M3's only being able to run high 1'54's to low 1'55's all the while RETRO was denying it, telling everyone they'd be fine if they were running 1'55's. Well now all of a sudden they're running consistent 153's, don't wanna say I told you so, but "I told you so!" So once again it was the M3 one make race after Lucky's tires gave out and after pit stops he was back to 6th place and hunting me down as I pitted on lap 10 to fix my damage rather than holding out a little longer, like I'd wanted to. I think he got back by me on fresher tires. Though I admit he is probably a better driver than me. Anyway, back to the point. Niether one of us had a prayer of getting back with the M3's and the Agroracer wasn't fairing much better in comparison in the "Z". So all week long I'd been saying I ran one high 1'53 in all my testing after a week of tweaking and the Mustangs were still gonna need a flawless race just to keep pace with the M3's that were "running high 1'54's to low 1'55's" because of the front tire wear issue. In reality I knew we'd need a miracle 'cause I knew the M3's were capable of faster laps than that. Then 3 hrs before race time I read the thread and see that the official set up has us at more of a disadvantage than what I was testing with all week. So yup, I was skeptical at that point. Then I see heavy damage on and realize I can't even afford to take chances with my now noncompetitive car, so I figure I'll do my best to just run a decent pace and hope others make mistakes and wham, hit on lap 1 and forced to push and take chances the whole race. All in all a disgustiing night for me.

To be fair......until this race I had only EVER posted ONE 1:54.2.......

However......the fastest lap of the race was posted by Lucky in the Mustang @ 1:52.something.

I don't know what to tell yah bud....I picked the car based on the package that best suits my driving style.

Tell you what....I'll run a Camaro at Tsukuba if it makes you feel better.

Rob

PS.....nobody wants to share testing times for Tsukuba??

My god! 1:55s! I ran 1:57s when I was running good. Yeah, on the practice race the M3's ran 1:55s, then pretty consistent 1:53s on the race. On the first lap, I had mechanical damage coming up on the bank and tried my best to control it.
Edit: Running 59s or so at Tsukuba.

my aussie mate did something stupid when testing on tsukuba put hards on the front and inters on the rear (in the Fwds) i kept telling him im sure thats not allowed also he was ademant it was faster atleast for him (he cant do Fwd ) so i want clarification to it if its illegal (i believe it is)

Edit if we were to do seperate quals for GS and ST id say 7-8mins each as that gives enough time to do 6 flying laps atleast... (but how are we going to sort this stupid start positions thing where it start STs infront of GS cars sometimes....)

This is a good idea.....especially for Tsukuba.....this is going to be a very busy track with all cars running.....

Or we could do single car quali....maybe 4 flying laps to post a time? But that would take longer than separate sessions.

I really dont't feel like arguing about it but I'm sure Lucky probably did post the fastest lap when his tires were in pretty good shape. But fast laps don't tell the whole story. I've been saying all along that in order to be competitive the Mustang woul'd need an advantage on fresh tires. Also part of my problem was running a set up that I didn't get a chance to run until qualifying time. I didn't understand exactly why Chris ditched that set-up on race day, when he seemed to agree with what I had up till then. Just before race time I found out he ditched racing header and racing exhaust which I was only using to gain RPM at the redline and then limiting power back down to 480 so when we shifted into 6th gear we were in some kind of powerband. And he made us put hard tires on the rear, which totally changed the handling. With the loss of 300rpm at redline the car was barely even pulling on the straights in 6th gear. I think it might have lost some torque as well. I just don't think you understand, I bet if we had an almost 2 sec. advantage per lap on fresh tires, you'd probably start realing us in by the 5th lap and just about caught us by lap 10. That's how bad the tire wear is. I basically had it set up for consistent as possible 1'54's before the downgrade, knowing we'd still need a practically flawless race. As far as you running a Camaro next week, go for it, at least we won't have 4 M3's. The gearing, RPM, added power and ballast was the only way I gained any time with this car and that only dropped 1 sec. off my best. With only half those changes, Chris told me himslef he was still losing .9 sec. to the Camaro he was testing against in the Bus Stop. Guess I'll have to take an M3 for a cruize this week and really see if it's me or the car.

Hey Boss....I'm not arguing at all.....I know exactly what you're dealing with and that is exactly why I chose to run a different car.

I'm in this for fun clean racing in a class that simulates something I really like in the real world. I'll run whatever I don't really care as long as I have someone to race with.

I'll play with the Camaro.....no biggie to me as long as Chris allows a car change?

You also have the option to run something else (If Chris allows). The beauty of sim racing is you don't have to buy, build and develop a new car if you decide your current car is not competitive. You just push a few buttons and VOILA! NEW CAR!

I like racing with you Boss...and to be honest I would drive a Mustang with you any day of the week.......if that's what has to happen, you and I can run some Spec mustang races whenever you want. Just let me know

Has everyone lost interest in this series? Nobody seems to be posting?

Anyway..........I'm running 57s at Tsukuba in a GS car (Not the BMW) and 1:02s in the Civic ST car.

What are you guys running in practice.

I only have run a few laps but 58s-59s in the Z car. But I think I have a lot of room to improve. Also, I feel so much more in control at Tsukuba, I race here a lot instead of NEVER at Daytona.
Edit: Something needs to be done about the GTi. It seemed very off the pace.

uh no the GTI was as fast as the mini if maybe a little slow its the civic thats off the pace due to a lack of power...

i actualy tested all 4 STs and i found on pace in Tsukuba it was Mini GTI/Civic (were about equal) Mx5 but all within .5

and on Daytona it was high 2:03s to 2:04s for the mini, 2:04s for the GTI., 2:05s for the civic and Mx5.....

Yeah, the reason why the GTi was so slow at Daytona was because the driver was shifting at too high an RPM.

GTPlanet CTSCC Rolling start rule

This is the standard for rolling starts. All Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge races will employ this style of start. As with all the rules make sure you have READ this rule and UNDERSTAND this rule prior to entering the lobby for free practice.
A. The Chief Steward will call for the start of the race procedure. At this point all drivers must be “entered” in the race and prepared for the race start. The steward must give fair warning at least two minutes prior to the command to give all competitors a chance to start the race. The race will not be restarted for any driver missing the start of the race.
B. At the expiration of Gran Turismo 5’s standard three second countdown to the race, GS entrants will be released to start the formation lap. At this point if there has been a discrepancy between where the entrant is lined up on GT5’s grid to where he actually qualified the entrant is free to SAFELY move to his earned starting position. The ST front row is asked to wait a further FIVE seconds before setting out. Grid order discrepancy may then be solved as above.
C. One pace lap at 65mph will precede each race unless the steward sees fit to cancel the race start and instruct the field to complete one more. Drivers are asked to maintain single file for the lap before lining up two by two BEFORE entering the FINAL corner on the race track. ST is asked to maintain the approximate FIVE second gap to the tail of the GS field.
D. The pole sitter is not allowed to accelerate until he reaches the start finish line. There will be no overtaking until the entrant’s car is past the start finish line.

GTPlanet CTSCC Split Qualifying Procedure
This is the standard for split GS and ST qualifying sessions. All Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge events will employ this qualifying procedure. As with all the rules make sure you have READ this rule and UNDERSTAND this rule prior to entering the lobby for free practice.
A. The Chief Steward will signal the conclusion of free practice. It is the responsibility of the entrant to stop lapping immediately and return to the pits.
B. Once the track is clear the Chief Steward will signal the beginning of ST qualifying. At this point ST entries will have ten minutes to complete fastest lap times to set grid order for the race. EACH ENTRANT MUST RECORD HIS BEST TIME TO THE THOUSANDTH OF A SECOND. GS cars are asked not to enter the track at this time.
C. At the conclusion of the ten minutes of ST qualifying the Chief Steward will signal the entrants to return to pit road. The Chief Steward will then request fastest lap times from each individual entrant in case of a lobby error. (Note: These errors are common. All the more reason to follow the rules.)
D. Once the Chief Steward has recorded the ST grid order he will signal the GS cars to start their 10 minute qualifying session. At this point no entrant may withdraw from the pit road. ST cars are asked not to enter the track at this time. EACH ENTRANT MUST RECORD HIS BEST TIME TO THE THOUSANDTH OF A SECOND.
E. At the conclusion of the ten minutes of GS qualifying the Chief Steward will signal the entrants to return to pit road. The Chief Steward will then request fastest lap times from each individual entrant in case of a lobby error.

These are the two new procedures implemented to our race process. They will be employed tomorrow. I don't expect to receive any questions about them in the lobby.
