@GTsach: 1:53s were done in practice. I'm not sure how consistent that stayed throughout our little test race.

@cbcvabch: Schedule is on the front page. (But I'll give you a hint, Saturdays at 8pm Eastern!:sly:)

Are those times draft aided?

I got down to a 1:54.0 with the M3 in the race but it was very early on with fresh rubber.

I like to think the 1:53 was draft aided, it wasn't set by me it was GTP_OVERHEATED who did it with the M3. But I don't know for sure.

To be honest I'm not sure how I managed the low 1:54.....in practice I was consistently in the high 1:54 to low 1:55 range without a draft.

You'll be in decent shape running 1:55s

I'm getting the same times in the Z with out draft

It'll be great to have you onboard.....The racing between myself and Overheated at the front was great for 10 laps or so......adding more cars into that laptime bracket can only make it more fun!!

Looking forward to Saturday!

I think a 1:55 should be very competitive as long as you can stay consistent. My lesson learned is not to get greedy, and to keep an eye on your tire wear as they will not go the distance....for me at least.

I ran a 1:53 in practice, which I hear does not have any draft. With that being said, I have no idea where I found that time. I want to say it was in the bus-stop, as going in hot with a couple tires in the grass seemed to gain at least .25 seconds.

We did have a nice little battle for the first half of the race. My goal for this weekend is to try and stay consistent, as once you loose time it is near impossible to gain it back. If we can get 3-4 cars running those times for 15-20 laps it should be a very memorable race.

Excellent news that we have guys running similar times. Keep an eye on the thread for the official race post and possibly a tech bulletin regarding a GS car. (Don't worry M3s, not you guys!)

I managed to get all the way through on the tires but I think 24 laps is about as far as they'll go for me. I actually spun out of the first Horseshoe on the last lap.....just no grip left.

I'm pretty conservative at the bus stop.....I shoot more for a better exit than an attacking entry becasue if you mess up the entry you can have some SERIOUS concequences.

That battle was great and I don't think we made contact at all anywhere!

My biggest concern is going to be to figure out the best strategic time to make the pitstop for tires. In a race as close as we were the leader HAS to pit first because if he doesn't the guy behind who do pit first can potentially undercut the leader with better rubber

I hate to be grammar police but this one bugs me. The phrase is "For all intents and purposes" not "For all intensive purposes". (Section 4 of first post)

I wish I could participate but I can't do weekend gigs.

Is there suppose to be one mandatory pitstop?? If not I think their should be would make it more challenging.

i think is a good idea. we do this in a vintage series, and it keeps tire grip up and can add a bit of strategy to the race.

I'll take that under advisement. At this point I think virtually everyone will require a pit stop, given the length of the races. However, particularly in ST, I think there might be some who try to conserve tires and push the one set the whole race, sort of a tortoise vs. hare type deal.

For me personally, after 20 laps in the test race things were starting to get pretty hairy. While in ST I'd probably only have to go maybe 7 or 8 more laps, I'd have a hell of a time making it to the end. (Hell, on good tires turn one is a struggle for me!)

Chris

I was running 1.55's with the Mustang but I was hot lapping every single lap trying to keep up with the M3's. I pulled a couple high 154's during practice. I ended up pitting on lap 8 and 17, front tires 3/4's gone, lots of understeer with the Stang. I couldn't try to conserve my tires trying to keep pace with the M3's. I probably could've stretched for 1 stop but know way would've been on pace. Had an off track excursion and a spin also, was really driving the wheels off it. I stuck with the M3's for a couple laps but I knew they were gonna get me and then roll off in the distance. By the end RETRO almost had me lapped and OVERHEATING had me by 50+seconds. Also the Stang is on Medium tires. Lots of people say there's no difference in wear 'cause of some glitch but not sure I believe it. I'd have to test back to back to prove it to myself. Once the fronts were about half way gone I was losing over a second a lap and pushing it for all it was worth, that's where you guy's really pulled away. I think i'm the GS car that Jonerz is talking about. were trying to come up with ideas to make the Stang a little more competitive. Kaz must really hate Stangs cause he made the handling deplorable. I can't believe that with an extra 100kg on me you guy's put such a hurting on me. He might allow me to use a 6 speed tranny and gear it like the current BOSS 302R but with a higher final drive to match the '07's lower redline.

on the mandatory 1 stop and some ST cars being able to do the full distance i felt if i never got disconnected i deffinatly could of made it to the end on the 24 laps (i was still doings 2:06s on lap15-18) but i think 31 is too long but yeah 1 mandatory stop would atleast make it a bit easier for those who cant conserve tyres then its about when in the 15-20 lap window do you want to pit for this race atleast 👍

On the Mandatory pitstop.....well I don't think a GS car will make it through 31 laps on one set anyway. I'm pretty light on tires in general and there was almost nothing left in the car after 24 laps. But that said, if someone wanted to try I don't think we should force a pitstop. But I'll do whatever Chris decides.

As for the Mustang.....I hear you, I tried to build one for the GT class that Chris did a while back and it needed all kinds of extras to make it competitive.

ONE NOTE ON PITSTOPS.......if we do make it Mandatory........we should also make sure that EVERYONE uses the whole pitlane at Daytona NOT shortcutting it straight out before turn 1. Not only will short cutting save a lot of time, it could potentially totally eff up someone coming into turn 1.

Just my take.

Rob

yeah deffo for Daytona if we have a mandatory pit you should say take the whole pit lane or get a 5 second penalty which seems fair... 👍
Also just had a nice practice set my new best in a 5lap run got my lap down from 2:04.0 on lap2 to 2:03.377 on lap5 :D

I'll open the lobby on Saturday early so that we can get a long practice session in before the race starts. Don't know about during the week - quite busy.

Whoa, didn't realize it was 31 laps. I'm screwed as far as tires go with the Mustang. Definately need mandatory pit stops. I'd have been stretching it for 12 laps on the practice race. Now I gotta go 16.:scared: Also sorry, but I was guilty of cutting the pit road, didn't even realize it. Surprized the game doesn't make you take it like at Laguna Seca.

I'm gonna go ahead and sign-up full time. I've got nothing else going on at the moment, so why not? Also, I posted a link here in the thread for my own series, so hopefully we can fill up the ST field.

MÜLE_9242 (MULE_9242) - #93 Müle Mötorsport Mini Cooper S

Colours are Matt Black / WR Blue Mica if it means anything.

This is looking very interesting and well organized. I was recommended this series by Mule. Thanks by the way Mule, great recommendation.👍

I am signing up, but put me down on reserve list, as I dont know what car to choose yet. I will let you know in a few hours, or tomorrow.
