Certainly limiting mistakes will be crucial, but as I've said in the past BoP for this championship isn't about making each car exactly the same. As it stands now the Mustang is only starting to reach the 170 mark before turn one which is about where most of the class is. Drafting, at least in ST last week, played a huge role.

Bottom line, right now the Mustang just won't handle like the rest of the GS pack. It's going to need supreme luck to win. The point is just to keep the Mustang in the hunt at Daytona, give it an outside shot at getting in front but a decent points hall is what is desired for Mustang drivers.

Chris

I tested your cars for GS class and I think they're all pretty decent. I will PM you later on but I think for World Challenge we could use these regs for GTC class. Just with a bit more freedom on tuning. That said I was hoping to join this series but the time is wrong for me. I'm usually not home Saturday evenings. But I was going to join this in ST class.

Maybe we should have another practice session with you and I. I just don't want to get into the real race and find your Mustang is untouchable (Not that I think it will be but it would be good to check.)

I'm free this evening around 8 eastern if you're interested.

Rob

i did not get to race in the first test race, and the server is under maintenance right now so all testing was done offline but i used the M3 , the Camaro SS , challenger and ofc the Mustang and all cars are closer then before. the Mustang should be faster on the straights to compensate for the handling of the other cars. i will be available for testing tonight and would enjoy a test session online because offline difference is staggering

Hey lucky - I'll be opening up a room at 3:00pm Pacific (maintenance is supposed to be completed then). So if it is done, join me in my lobby.

Chris

i might join it if its still open after i quallify for a friday series i in run to prove my 2:03s lol

I am fine with choosing the ST class, but if there is a confirmed available spot on Gs then I will go with GS. But I still dont know. There is a driver on GS that is TBD. So Im just waiting for confirmation.

8. Buzzberd73 (Buzzberd73) - TBD he was the GS TBD who raced in the ST class for the test race...

Yes its him... I need to know if he is racing at all... If he is then I'll go to ST class, if not GS class.

Here are my cars for each class:
GS - BMW M3
ST - Mini Cooper.

My main choice is GS, if its not available then ST. :) Let me know as soon as possible please. Thanks

We'll know Saturday at the latest, so just show up at the race!

Chris

EDIT: Server remains down... so in a holding pattern for testing.

Nepalii your Jeff Gordan suit compells you to pick the Chevy

Yeah that's one thing RETRO needs to understand. If we are a we bit faster on the oval it evens us up and like Jonerz said, every car will have it's strong points. Besides if they can get away from us in the infield the draft won't be an issue. Even if we were dead even in all areas, the drafting would happen. But I mean really it's the same way the real life challenge series played out at Daytona. The Stang's strong point was the oval with the other cars having the edge in handling. Least that's how I remember it, haven't seen any races this season.

Yeah, I don't know if he is going to enter GS or ST.

Chris

Chris, I think I'd rather do an ST car after all so go ahead and let NEPALII have that GS spot.

I also am still undecided on which vehicle I will run there but go ahead and put me down with a Honda for now.

Jay

Just for everyone to know, the final BoP changes heading into round one are being delayed by the GT5 server maintenance. Wanted to have been finished confirming the Mustang specs in testing this afternoon but every minute past 3:00pm PST the maintenance continues tonight takes away time that I could be testing that Mustang. All the other cars are ready, so I will likely post them and then finish the Mustang tomorrow morning.

Alrighty. Done deal.

i think it's safe two say that i've have had a real lap or two also :sly:

I'm not trying to bust anybody's chops or claim to have any real life experience but it is what it is in the game. The Mustang is probably gonna have a slight advantage at the start of each stint but I can almost garauntee it will be short lived 'cause of the tire wear. Nothing We've done has cured that. And I have my LSD and suspension set up to be loose as a goose to help that but it's no good for consistency for sure. I'd say that by the 6th or 7th lap the front tires start to get bad enough to deteriorate performance substantially. Yes you have the right to worry but I seriously think it's still gonna be a challenge for us Mustang guy's. Like I said the only major change was the tranny and in testing with just that it was actually slower. We needed the extra rpm of the exhaust to make it work (sounds like crap now) and the extra ballast to help handling a little and the extra power to offset that.
