I think no mandatory pit stop, and pit entry must use the whole pit road (no glitching).

Chris

I am ok with this. My thought is if you are conserving your tires, you might not gain enough time to negate a pit stop.

I was running 1.55's with the Mustang but I was hot lapping every single lap trying to keep up with the M3's. I pulled a couple high 154's during practice. I ended up pitting on lap 8 and 17, front tires 3/4's gone, lots of understeer with the Stang. I couldn't try to conserve my tires trying to keep pace with the M3's. I probably could've stretched for 1 stop but know way would've been on pace. Had an off track excursion and a spin also, was really driving the wheels off it. I stuck with the M3's for a couple laps but I knew they were gonna get me and then roll off in the distance. By the end RETRO almost had me lapped and OVERHEATING had me by 50+seconds. Also the Stang is on Medium tires. Lots of people say there's no difference in wear 'cause of some glitch but not sure I believe it. I'd have to test back to back to prove it to myself. Once the fronts were about half way gone I was losing over a second a lap and pushing it for all it was worth, that's where you guy's really pulled away. I think i'm the GS car that Jonerz is talking about. were trying to come up with ideas to make the Stang a little more competitive. Kaz must really hate Stangs cause he made the handling deplorable. I can't believe that with an extra 100kg on me you guy's put such a hurting on me. He might allow me to use a 6 speed tranny and gear it like the current BOSS 302R but with a higher final drive to match the '07's lower redline.

im with ya partner with stang is not competitive and if changes are not made i will either have to change cars or quit series

This is looking very interesting and well organized. I was recommended this series by Mule. Thanks by the way Mule, great recommendation.👍

I am signing up, but put me down on reserve list, as I dont know what car to choose yet. I will let you know in a few hours, or tomorrow.

Alright, got you down on reserve.

@MULE: Thanks for recommending the series! I've got you down for full season ST.

Yeah, BOSS and I have actually been working discussing it and working on it since Saturday

*Big props to BOSS on that one for bringing it up - that's all anyone has to do in this series. I do my best to talk to the competitors about their cars after the race, but I'd appreciate it if they'd open the dialogue with me.*

Can we vote on the pit stop rule?

I don't think we're going to vote on it. I think we will institute two mandatory stops. I am going to the rules page right now to change this.

Chris

TWO stops! Oh well......My tires will be fresh as daisies at the end of each stint!

I'd prefer one stop just because I think tire management should figure into racing but if you want to do two.....I'll do two.

Rob

I understand that Rob, but the Mustang is having a hell of a time of it. We'd really be hanging those guys out to dry, and I want every car to be competitive as best as possible, keeping in mind there will be certain cars who have better tracks than others.

Chris

lol 2 stops easy ill be flat out every lap with no thoughts of tyres :D

Like I said....no worries I'll do two......now I'm gonna have to look into what the best strategy is for pitstop timing. I won't need to wait for the tires to drop off if last Saturday's test will be anything to go by.

I do understand the Mustang Issue after we worked to try and get the GT Mustang working together. Seems the guys at PD didn't like the Mustang much.

Rob

Pit in if you dont slow down and drive on the right bit the right side of the yellow line i believe it glitches you back to the start.....

Preisely, Paul. Enter the pit road as if you were in a Grand-Am race, by following the full pit entry.

No cutting across the grass, and being sent back to the beginning of the pits.

Also, the second part of the rule is about pit exit, follow the proper Grand-Am pit exit. You'll see at around 0:11 seconds in the video below there are cones at the NASCAR pit exit that don't exist in GT5. You have to turn right and follow the road racing pit lane exit by the grass on drivers left and to the left of the pit exit wall that comes up at the end of the grass.

That is the track map, there is nothing remotely complicated about getting onto and off of pit road. enter pit road like they do in NASCAR or Grand-Am, exit pit road following the extended pit road exit.

Chris

For the FF cars, watch out on pit Exit, too. There's a glitch due to the natural understeer caused by the FF drivetrain, where the car doesn't turn sharply enough, and goes all the way to the grass on exit. If you get the car back on the pit lane, it reverts you back to the entrance.

Good point Mule. My recommendation is if that happens to you during the pit stop, follow the pit lane speed limit down the grass and rejoin the road racing pit exit at the end of the NASCAR and Grand-Am speed-limited portion of pit lane. By the way, it tends to happen when there are other cars on pit road FWIW.

Anyone around for testing?

Chris

Yeah, that happened with Season 1 of the Integras. I think if you run a shorter 1st gear*, it helps, but since we can't change the tranny, we'll just have to live with it.

*not sure on this, as it was a while ago.

Exact opposite for me. It happened when I was in my lounge setting up the car by myself, but was fine when we did the practice race.

That's weird, as you say, it was the opposite for me. Hmm... thoughts anyone?

Chris

EDIT: I am no longer testing.

I have no confirmation, but I believe Buzzberd is going to run in ST. So on Saturday you can come out in a GS car.

I'm still in the lobby posted above by the way, guys.

Chris

I'll await confirmation then. Thanks for the reply. 👍 If GS class remains full, then I'll join the ST class in the Mini Cooper S.

I asked him to confirm that yesterday but didn't hear back......I'll see if I can find out. I know he was taking a liking to the Subaru

we should use the long pit exit , if not we will have cars coming out right in front of cars going into T1 this will definitely cause major problems with some many pit stops required and it is a long way around back to the pits you could lose over a minute

If that wasn't clear, that's what I meant. Also, performance balancing is complete for all cars except the Mustang. But we're close on the Mustang, so we should get those out to you soon. Also, I'm done testing so the room is closed.

Chris

EDIT: Just to clarify, pit lane entry and exit must be done a la how Grand-Am mandates in real life. Full use of the proper road course pit road.

Stick with Lucky, were working hard to get the Mustang competitive and if we do switch to a 2 pitstop mandatory we'll be alright!👍

I'll PM you what we've come up with.

I suggested a customizable transmission (close ratio) something in that direction

That's one of the things for sure!

Maybe we should have another practice session with you and I. I just don't want to get into the real race and find your Mustang is untouchable (Not that I think it will be but it would be good to check.)

I'm free this evening around 8 eastern if you're interested.

Interested yes, available no. I work the night shift. Most of the posts I've been making were at work on my breaks. At that time I'll be snoozing just about thinkin to get up and get ready for work. I'm about to go to sleep right now but it's gonna be a rough day 'cause my sleep is gonna get split up 'cause my little girl has a Dr.'s appointment this afternoon and my wifes working late. So I gonna grab that nap when she gets home. I usually practice a little bit a couple times a week in the morning after work. But today's gonna be crazy and I'll be busy tomorrow morning too. If I can convince my girl to gimme some time tommorrow in the evening tommorrow, say 6-ish eastern or maybe a little later. Let me know, and I'll try.

I not really thinkin its gonna wipe you up though. What I did was put in the full race tranny, but I'm still using stock 2012 BOSS Mustang gearing. The other things were basically adding more ballast (100KG) to the rear and more power (20 as of right now) to compensate for that. Jonerz and I pretty much agreed I think with the BOSS gearing it was binging off the rev limiter quite easily. So what I did there was too add exhaust mods, which increased the redline from 6300rpm to 6800rpm and then limited the power back down. Other than the move to a 6 speed the changes are pretty subtle but all help just a little. It still eats up the front tires pretty bad so I have to conserve. It only gained about a second on my fastest lap and that certainly wasn't conserving. In the practice race you had me by almost a full lap do mainly to tire wear and my two pit stops. If you drop 1 sec a lap off that race for me you still would've had me by like a min. and 30 sec.'s. I don't know how long the pit stops take but I dont think they were 90 sec each. And your tires as you put it will be fresh as daisy's most of the race, were as the Mustangs will defineatly still fall off.

I trust you guys......Chris has done a pretty bang up job of performance balancing in the past. The only concern I have, and it it remains to be seen if it is valid at all, is what your top end speed will be like at Daytona. It won't matter how good the M3 tires are if the Stang can draft past on the banking every lap.

That said it might just be a Daytona problem.....as I said IF it is a problem at all.

No biggie I'll deal with it how it comes.......it's racing.

Besides....the biggest thing for this race will be not making any mistakes for 31 laps regardless of performance!
