Doing a quick Google, it looks like that is indeed the only SSC Ultimate Aero model that's ever been made.

Not my picture, but the same car I got today. The only scale model left at BJ's.

That Falcon is nice, 80's ATCC cars are so awesome looking.

I would really enjoy a quality model of the SSC Ultimate Aero. This is the only one I can seem to find.

I don't know much about scale models, but this doesn't seem to be a good buy. What do you guys think? Does anyone know if there any more SSC models out there?

I've been watching this one for a while. It's a bit cheaper and it seems to be from the same company, different color though!

I found another!

I just bought this:

AutoArt BMW M3 (E30)

I've wanted to buy this for a while, but its been out of production. AutoArt recently started doing a second run of this model, though not using the nice styrofoam packing like in the past. Also I've heard of AutoArt quality not being as good as it used to be, so I was a little worried about this second run. Now that I've gotten the model, I'm quite happy with the quality of it. The details are good, the engine bay looks detailed. The hood was the coolest thing though, it opens like the real deal, where the front pops up, then the hood slides forward before the rear of the hood swings up.

The only thing is that the M3 just seems a little bit smaller than the regular E30 model that I have from Otto. I don't know if it's the AutoArt that's on the small side or the Otto that's on the big side.

I have my eye set on that silver Penske one, as that was the one they used for testing.

But I really don't know if the quality of the model justifies the price. There are a very limited amount of pictures of the model, but can any experienced collectors give me any insight on the quality of it?

This was maisto pride and joy in 1:18 scale, it was the first and last maisto to feature felt in the interior(for 1:18), and very high detail touches, it's highly collectible.
:D

Just what F1 needs two more Sebastien Vettels...

Only these full GP cars (without mr Vettel) were £17 in total. Shame because they never had the 1:24 scale RB9 but its still really cool.

Also saw Bloodhound SSC... Soon my pointy dream. Soon

*image upside down- nothing I can do about it now

I passed up a Minichamps RB6 today, because Vettel. It was £20.

Maaaaay be killed for this but I like Seb. That's not why I got the 8 and 9... They never had any Webber which wasn't the cheaply made RC car... No thank-a yourself

If it was Webber, I may have bought it. Pointy fingers is spoilt and arrogant, just can't stand him.

That's fair enough but what am I supposed to do when their next shipment will be "God knows when" and they would be £29 online? I go for Mr. Finger-Wagger. Of course :)

You could literally go to costco, and get 20 maisto cars for under 210$ and have a decently sized collection, just add felt and other intricate details, paint retouches and etc, and you have a big premium collection for under 230$

What you pay for is what you get. Maisto is bang for buck, but not a brand if you are looking for detail. What I love about Maisto is that they have such a huge collection, you can almost collect any 1:18 car from Maisto.

On that, I've been rather quiet in this part of the forum lately. My laptop went bust, so I built myself a desktop, my car went in for maintenance as well as having spent money on winter tyres. And then my mates came over during the summer so a lot of money went to food and fun.

Now that the holidays are over and everything that had broken down is fixed, I can finally look to collecting more again. I've currently got my eyes on these two made by Spark:

The R18 is great in detail. Watch out with those antennas. I gave it to my dad as a gift and he snapped all the ones on the air tube. It happened when he closed the box.

I don't know where you put them but I bought a showcase for it from TSM, with the Le Mans track layout on it. Looks absolutely stunning 👍

Received my Alfa 155 today. Looks great. This isn't going to be my last product from HPI :D

Actually, a part of HPI recruited to continue releasing 1:18 models, they are called Ignition Models. They've released a stunning R34 Z-Tune, but it seems there are some QC issues on some of the models.

Glad to hear the HPI looks good. The HPI, when on sale, looks mighty tempting, but I'm still not 100% sold yet on resin vs. metal, and one thing with the metal (AutoArt) ones is that their doors, hood and trunk opens. I don't know, sounds like it's worth the 70 Euros?

@Bram Turismo, those Spark models look really nicely detailed.

I'm checking various model sites for Otto's BMW 750iL. It's suppose to be out but none of them have it yet. I think that's my next model as soon as it is available to buy on the model sites.

Picking up an HPI for 70 euros is the biggest steal on the planet if you are an Alfa Romeo fan.

I will hold my hand on my heart and say right here, right now that the first time you get a high end resin model, you will fall in love if you are after detail.

I mean, I paid 150 euros for my AutoART Bentley Speed 8. And yet it has no opening parts, and in my opinion AutoARTs aren't as detailed as resin models by Spark, TSM or HPI. Yet I paid so much for it, just because they are not manufactured anymore. I'd say my AutoART Mazda 787B is the best model I have, but I did pay a whopping 200 euros for it, which is very high considering it has opening parts but everything is plastic under the shell.

AutoART Aston Martin LMP1 cars are very expensive as well. Yet the entire cockpit is plastic.

Personally, there is something about resin models that almost makes them look more detailed. Maybe because resin is easier to work with to obtain a perfectly detailed chassis out of the molds. I'm not sure. I do know that I fell in love with Spark when I got my 1997 TWR Porsche.

Then there are Exoto's. But with those kind of prices you need dedication. Or have a very good income with little personal costs :P
