Made it to Key West, FL a couple days ago. Traveling a total of 1,234 miles south of home, stopping just shy of 90 miles from Cuba.

It was a bright and sunny part of the day. Perfect, a nice bit of sun with a cool breeze carrying the ocean air.

And as I walk by a tropical bar on the docks facing the Gulf, I hear something...faint, at first. It caught my attention but I really didn't think much of it.

I drew closer to the bar where the music was coming from, watching the colorful fish below swimming after food in a frenzy. The docks were calm, nothing but the slight beat in the background from the as yet unidentified music and the pattering of waves on boat hulls.

And then it hit me...

"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart.."

🤬 I'm out.

Let this be a lesson to all of you. No matter how far you run, no matter how hard you try, you are always at risk of being whammed! Never lower your defenses, never let down your guard.

I made it past Christmas Day... Now it's just the comparatively easy post Christmas run to New Year's day.

But I shouldn't tempt fate.

Past Christmas now. It was a good fight, but it appears I've won. It's not like the stations carry that song after christmas right?

I like Daniel's explanation for my Whamming 'walked right into a death trap'

I tempted fate by gloating a little one day. That was also the day I got Whammed twice.

Quick bit of math shows that only 45% of the original participants have been Whammed! to this point this year. George Michael has gone easy on us, it appears.

I have no idea how I've survived this so far, heard so much Christmas music, yet somehow not 'Last Christmas'... So far.

We should have another thread like this, but replace "Last Christmas" with "Like a Wrecking Ball". I guarantee everyone will lose within two days.

It's still very easily audible from those places, so I don't know where he lives.

Totally, I once was leaving work and turned on the radio to hear "I came in like a wreeeeeeeeeeecking baaaaaaall".

 I've only heard that noise song once and it was at my school. But I don't go to school anymore, so I will be the master at this game! Mainly because I don't even recognize the song, so when it plays I won't know it's actually playing. And in my mind I still wouldn't have heard it.

Don't hear "Wrecking Ball" all that much. I find that stupid "Blurred Lines" song on the radio way too much, however.

I made it!

Now I'm never going to win again, and you can quote me on that for next year and every year that follows.

It's not? Well I've been Whammed! for the past two years so you'll forgive me for not knowing that.

You've got 4 more days to go. Stay inside, lock yourself in your bedroom, nothing comes in or out, blast some heavy metal, and play Grand Theft Auto...you'll thank me later. :P

I'm aware that Bruce Springsteen recently released an album titled "Wrecking Ball", but I guess that that isn't what you're talking about.

Damnit!
Didn't made it, but I was so close. Anyways I'll narrate it to you my dear frenemies.
So, my mom told me if I wanted to go to wal-mart for the dinner. I was bored, so I said "okay" I had forgotten this since christmas, but in the radio I heard Ariana Grande's cover of Last Christmas, "no problem" I thought, I had brought my obligatory iPod and earphones.

Oh how wrong I was.

Walking through the milk and derivates aisle (or however it's called), the song I was hearing ended, and for some reason there was a little pause before the next one started, maybe 1 or 2 seconds, enough to hear "last christmas" in that George Michael's characteristic tone. I thought it couldn't be, it had to be a cover or something.

Nope.

I take off my earphones and indeed, it's the original one. After Christmas I tought I had already won. Guess nobody it's safe until it's really over.
