GTPodcast Official Thread-Is Hybriding good or bad as a whole? [VIDEO]

I have been severely sidetracked for the past two and a half hours, so that three hour timeframe isn't really possible at this point.
I'll get it done today, though, that much is certain.

I'm about 20 minutes in now, and this won't be in the main episode or the bloopers so I'll share it here.

Apperantly, a FaceBook page claiming to be the official Gran Turismo 5 page (it has about 10,000 followers) posted something talking about the GTPodcast (i.e. us) and provided a link to DL it.

That is ~10,000 people that have been shown the existence of the GTPodcast. How many people actually followed up on it won't ever be known, but it is reasonable to think that Episode 5 will have the largest audience yet.

Guys, just so you know, when you know that something is going to be edited out and you are about to start saying stuff that will be in the final cut, it really helps if you do a short countdown. Even something as simple as a '3, 2, 1' would be great and would really help with the editing.

That being said, this will be released around 8:00 EST at the latest.

Let me start by saying that Mitch said he test the tune starting on CS and going up to SS. The car was tuned on RS, so obviously it is going to handle like crap on bad tires.

Next, the tune called for the rear wing, which both of you said you didn't install. You (Brad) said something about the tune saying 0 downforce in the settings, which isn't true. It does clearly say 20 rear downforce.

And going back to point one, Brad then says that he was in the grass on turn one...using SH! The tune was for RS for crying out loud!

To continue, Brad says (correct me if I'm wrong) that the tune doesn't take into account driving style. Mitch said it before: the tune is very numb. It got to the point that if you applied it correctly it didn't need to factor in driving style.

Then I hear Brad say something about increasing brakes, which would be wonderful if it was possible in GT5. Which it isn't. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. EDIT: Listening on, I realize that this may not be the case.

As a short side note, in the world of small tuning good publicity is ignored and bad publicity kills. Roj said that the world of tuning isn't competitive. Well, Roj has a name for himself. I don't. For VL, it is a constant competition just to get noticed.

EDIT: Brad said something about the transmission being tuned like a drag car. I tune transmissions the same way that Praiano does; as a matter of fact the exact same way. Take any one of his later tunes and you will find the loooong first gear and short final gear.

I'm going to finish off by saying this:
I am very accepting of constructive criticism, but it stops being constructive when the tune wasn't even applied correctly.
 
1. Tires were never indicated in the tune. I thought I may have missed something, so I went back again and had a look. Tires are not mentioned, so how were we to know?

2. The aero was listed as 0/20, and looking back I do see that it's F/R not 0 out of 20. I'll correct that and the tires, and retest.

3. My comments about the tune taking driving style as a factor I feel is accurate, as your description of the car's characteristics wasn't accurate. Again, I'm going to retest with the aforementioned adjustments, but I didn't feel the description provided accurately represented what I drove. Going to RS will improve the grip, and the rear downforce may help with turning, but I'm still not convinced of the tranny or suspension settings. I'll have more to report by morning, and if needed will retract my comments with a public correction.

4. I adjusted my brakes from 5/5 to 6/6. I don't know how to better describe the adjustments, other than pointing to the tuning menu in the game, towards the bottom of the menu. Where it says "brakes"... I turned it up to 6/6. I'll reset all settings for the retest.

5. There's no such thing as bad publicity. If it's as bad as we say, someone's going to check it out to see if it is, indeed, that bad... or to see if we're a bunch of retards with no clue. This also doesn't include the weekly publicity you'll get for your site on Google+ and Facebook... and we're downloaded all over the world. You'll get noticed.

6. Finally, as said before, I'll retest tonight and post some results. If needs be, I'll issue a public apology/correction, as I'm sure Mitch will too.

I suppose there was no way for you to know that, so it is kind of my fault.

Going from a tune for SS to a car on RS is easy. Going from a tune for RS to a car on SH is...bad.
I thank you for retrying the tune with the tires and downforce.

Brake balance=F:R ratio. 5/5 is the same as 6/6, which is also the same as 1/1 and 10/10.
Just sayin'.

You'd think, but not always. A post with a link is one thing, a 20 minute long review saying that my latest tune isn't good is another thing entirely.

I would have quit long ago if it weren't for the promise of Adenaline keeping up his site. There are exactly three people that post in the thread other than myself, and less than 7,000 views in almost four months is very bad.
That is why one of my first suggestions was "Are bigger garages killing smaller ones?", because it is true
and the big fish don't even realize it.
 
So uhhh, is the podcast gonna be out tonight or not?

It will. There was a problem with the file, but Brad fixed it and it shouldn't take very long now.

And the bloopers are going to be about forty seconds long, but it will be the highest Tampax content funniest forty seconds of you life.👍

I used Race Softs as well, but it only made chassis sway worse, so I left it out.👍
