I'd recommend falling off the track on the parade lap too, adds a certain something "special" to the event :banghead:

Also boshuter, I was wondering if you were happy with me whilst I was defending position against you early on. First time I've raced with these real clean rules, want to check I wasn't over aggressive.

Good race all!

You were fine while we were battling, I was getting a good run on you out of the turns, but just not enough to complete the pass. My car is pretty low on HP and I think it really hurt me on this track. I could never get in the 34's practicing with my car, I jumped in one of the Garaiya's last night and was running 34's after 4 laps. I may just change cars, I love the Celica, but the low HP and extra weight just kills it on long fast tracks.

Also Qualifying is now open for this week's mock race. This will be the post that will be used for the qualifying results. It is going to be this Saturday at 7ET (Our normal race time for this series). It will be at Monza, the site of the 2nd circuit on the schedule.

We are going to try to treat this event as if it was the official race. Given this we are going to qualifying the way we will do it all season (see the OP for details on that). This will give everyone a 'practice week' to get ready for how the GTRRL does things. Qualifying for the mock race will be open starting right now going all the way to 12 hours before the race starts.

The chart below will be the an example of how we will record the results. This will be updated as the week goes forth and when a new page is made I will quote this post

Current Qualifying Results:

It is possible we may offer the winner of these races a lock in spot into Room A for the first race of the season. Stay tuned on that info. Any questions just let us know.

To qualify you can either PM a steward here on GTPlanet, post a post on here with a public room number for a steward to join, or if you are friends on PSN with a steward you can PM them on there. Below is the list of Stewards that can qualify you (as of now)

GTPlanet name (PSN name)

- XxShaggxX (Xx-Shagg-xX)
- DragonGT83 (same)
- KingBestJr (same)
- gtpanoz (panoz38)
- Infernothefox (InfernoTheFox)

As we get closer to the beginning of the season we will probably add a few more. Note that Stewards must qualify with other Stewards

Also to those who are on the fence about which class to run, you are allowed to run a qualifying attempt for both classes then choose one to race in for this mock race. You can use this mock race week as an opportunity to choose which class you want to run.

And this:

Monza Instructional Videos. Not the best laps but decent ones. Sorry for the unprofessional quality once again, still can't find the charger to my cam...

Hope these videos are helping 👍

ALSO BIG NOTE: Make sure that you are practicing and qualifying on the NON WEATHER CHANGE version of Monza. That is what the stewards will use during qualifying and race so make sure that you are practicing in the right elements

Can you stewart guys maybe just tell us when you're going to be on and we can schedule around you guys?

Im going on to practice and qualify in abit, anyone free to observe/join?
Or should I do this same time tomorrow? To be safe I'd like to organise a particular time for it.

Also why do we have the rule that you must qualify to have points? Just worried because I have exams in a month.

Edit: Done, qualifying time was bad but I used those laps to learn the track and work on my right foot braking which I never use in racing. :P
Im very comfortable with the car and track (except for that damn braking zone for turn 1) and Im sure Zach can best my time easily. 👍

Does anyone have a good tune for the GT300 Celica and the '03 Garaiya? I also think I need some help with trans and drivetrain settings, I just can't seem to get the top speed out of the Celica that the other cars can hit. (it may just be the low HP of the Celica)

I think I'll drive the '03 Garaiya in this weeks mock race, I like the Celica but just can't come close to the times I get in the other cars. (let me know if it's not ok to switch cars before season starts)

It's usually fairly late when I get a chance to practice (9-10 PM CST). I'll send you an FR tonight and try to catch you online.

I'm sure Dragon does, I've had him on my FR for a long time. Just didn't want to bother him while the GT Academy stuff was going on.

Shagg I'll go tomorrow night anytime after 7pm EST till whenever. Ill be home all night on Friday. If you post a room number on the op soon as you power up, you might be surprised to see people jumping in and out all night' 👍

By the to all:
I'm about to Wheel up finally, and I was thinking of getting the Fanatec GT3 RS model since is only 300.00 now, but is the CSR Elite really worth it?

T500RS wheel best "wheel" hands down, pedals with the realistic brake mod I believe causes the dead zone in the brake pedal as some say they don't have that dead zone with it, so take some adjusting to that. From researching the DFGT and G27 are now toys compared to like 2 other thrustmaster models that are now out there. If your just wanting to have fun with the wheel and get better in the game, the price for the DFGT and the fun you'll have is priceless.

When I can get back on I'll try and help you out, In testing at Monza with the Celica I was hitting 1.54.0s.

I don't know many comparisons for wheels but I can give you the 👍 on the G27. Have had it since GT5 came out, it's a fantastic wheel IMO

I've heard great things with it. G27 has got paddle shifters that DFGT doesn't have. Better quality pedals. Really depends how much you wanna spend and what your purpose is going to be. I've had my DFGT almost 2 years I think and have had no problems with it, you can also buy paddle shifters to mount to it for 40 more bux but it's still alot cheaper then a G27. I'd rather have a G27 over a DFGT anyday:tup: In my point of view I want the wheel that GT Academy will most likely be using and thats the T500RS. The wheel was great, just the difference in the pedals is something to get use to for me where I still qualified decent with it but if I already knew how the pedals worked I would of been on pole. If you don't got much money to spend get a DFGT, you'll get your money back with enjoyment in no time, if you got more money get a G27, if you wanna go all out get a T500. And even if GTA doesn't use the T500 again in finals, IMO it'll be easier to switch to a G27 or DFGT from that wheel then going the other way(if you've had a decent amount of time on a wheel).

I am now in my lounge ready to qualify anybody if necessary. Ill be in here for a while so definitely stop by if your ready to qualify 👍

Hey guys, don't really like saying this but I'm going to have to resign from GT500 GTRRL S5. I thought id have the time to do this but I don't. Good luck to all ;) Again really sorry

Well thanks for the interest

How on earth r yall runnin 1:53s in 300s?

Just have to hit your marks perfect. I got my PB down to a 1:53.45 but that is a super flying lap. I basically call that a perfect lap (for myself). It's not something that can be maintained over numerous laps.

I'd imagine it should be ok. I won't be there running the race Dragon or King will but they will probably wait for you. Just be ready to race then 👍

It seems the lineup is basically finalized so here is the starting lineup. Drivers in red are drivers who have said they will not be attending:

Just a reminder on how things will work. We will have the room open probably 30 minutes before 7ET that way we can get things set up and make sure everything is operating. We will probably get the race started closer to 7:30 just depends when everyone gets into the room. (Also takes a bit to do all of the regs). Be sure to follow my instructions when we are doing regs so we can get through it as smooth as possible.

When we are doing the pace laps remember that it is staggered rolling start so you are to keep a car length inbetween you and the next driver. Here is an image describing how to this:

formation.jpg

Credit to PURE for the image

500s will go first on the parade lap and will be allowed to get about a 20-30 second gap. Pace speed is 70 mph and is up to pole sitter to keep this speed. When the leader hits the start finish line that when everyone goes full speed. THERE IS NO PASSING before the start finish line.

That's pretty much it. We will use this mock race to get all of the kinks out so everyone knows how we do it. Better to learn now and be perfect for week one :)

Looks like we should have a total of 14 people. Given its a mock race ill leave the last two spots open to last minute people who weren't able to qualify. First come first serve. After this mock race we wont be so generous.

Good luck! 👍
