It looks kind of like a Bristol Beaufighter, but it's got way too much greenhouse. Not a Beaufort or Buckingham, either, I know.

It looks very much like a Vickers product, but with that forward-mounted rudder I think it's a Blackburn.

Blackburn Botha, maybe?

Built for one thing only.

And would that be "appearing in computer games"? Or is it a plane designed to look like it's CGI?

Ah...is that a computer-generated John Travolta I can see in the cockpit?

It is indeed a Botha.

Hence the file name "Pik".

A joke that I suspect will be wasted on my audience.

:(

Indeed not! I know who Pik Botha is, I was just to sleepy to get it :(

Incidentally it looks like a modified Mustand of sorts.

I'm sure I came across this one when looking for "contra-rotating propellors". I think it was said to have been owned by John Travolta. With a name like Magic Jet, Jet Plane, Jet Washer, Something Jet. It's a highly-modified p51 Mustang for racing.

That's actually a real picture, not CGI!

And yes, that's Precious Metal, a very highly modified P-51 that currently holds the closed-course airspeed record at something over 450 knots - flow around pylons at less than 100 feet off the deck!

The Reno Air Races are a sight to behold. One day I want to get there.

Mike and 911 both got it, so whoever wants can have the next go.

"World Jet" was the name of the sponsor painted on the side.

And it seems this was before it had the name Precious Metal.

I knew it was something to do with Jet.

I still can't find a reference to John Travolta. Maybe I dreamed that bit.

Here are some pictures, including of the Griffon engine.
