[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

Finished the Historic Races got the gold! I used the Camaro RM in both events. In Deep Forest I had the Chaparrel 2J in front at the beginning of the race. I sideswiped him at the first turn to get in front. He stayed behind me for most of the race but the Toyota 7 caught up to me towards the end of the race and I had to do some blocking. It was an exciting race. :) I had two Chaparrel 2J in that race and they were both duking it out. I watched them in my rear view.

Kudos to the tuner 👍 found it here -> https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=142949&highlight=camaro

I used a '70 Challenger R/T RM, I took the win at Deep Forest by .488 seconds. I beat the Chaparral by roughly 8 car lengths, so it was a comfortable victory. I didn't ever have to block.

I used the Challenger RM at Cote 'D Azur and won that as well, Chaparral took 2nd again but I beat him by .389 seconds or 6 car lengths.

Both victories were fairly easy, although I did have to dive low to the inside on the first turn of Deep Forest to take over 1st on LAP 2 and then again at Cote 'D Azur in the tight S turns. Dive low and in and you can force them to the outside and essentially use them as a turning wall. So you can push it a little harder through those turns.

A few of the turns on Deep Forest the front end will float a little. I never tuned the suspension, I just ran with what it can with standard.

yep...i had the same problem.. i used the zr1 with the RM and a tune setup thats seems to be to only one on here to beat "like the wind"....got the prize car from that.. beat allstars...but the historic cup still not beat yet....i think the easyest way to beat the historic cup is with the car you win for "like the wind" b-spec"...

Use the Countach you win from the Lamborghini Exclusive event.

For the All stars, you could skip that, and wait until you get the Like the Wind event. Then you get the ZR1 from the dealership, race modify it, then put the upgrades, oil change, and from that event, you win the Minolta. Then you can win the All stars event very easily.

For Historic racing cup, there's a guide on the forums where you use a fully kitted out Countach, with a rear spoiler, and racing softs.

Best strategy. I wasted hours trying All Stars with the RM ZR1. If your not lv21 though, just do special events until you hit it.

I was able to consistently coach my level 17 - 18ish B-Spec Dingy to 2nd place in a Jag XJ13, losing to a Toyota 7 every time, both courses. I could coach him past everything else, but the Jag simply didn't have enough for the 7. Even if I left him alone and uncoached, he'd usually take 2nd or third.

Finally got a lucky starting order and won both races this weekend while I was sorta grinding them in the background (hoping for a good starting order or some luck) as I worked at the computer. Only one Toyo 7 and it started well back in the pack both times. It finished 4th in one race, and was a hard charging 2nd in the other. :) Another lap and I'm not sure I coulda held it off. There REALLY needs to be a "Drive defensively / Block" command.

Jag has whatever limited tuning options are available for it, with the only adjustments being to top speed and a slight lowering of both front & rear ride heights.

I've tried running this in A-Spec and I have a whole new world of respect for my Dingys, as it's a TOUGH drive with this setup. Donno how he managed to handle it. :) I'm gonna play with the setup a bit this evening and see if I can make this green beast handle a little better.

I used the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C2) Race Car '63, oil change and Medium race tires.
Increased downforce to max front and back, lowered suspension to - 10 front and back.

Added a Stage 2 turbo for Cote race and shortened the gearing to top at about 240 kmh.

Followed the advice given and it was pretty easy.

Managed to do this with the Ferrari 512BB after much spannering of the suspension and many grids under the bridge :D.

Neither victory replay is anything I'd like my OLR compatriots to see tho' :embarrassed:

Somehow did this with the XJ13

Deep Forest was a breeze - tuned the tranny for the main straight and cleaned house pretty easily (The Toy 7 was creeping on the final lap but he couldn't hang)

Cote - well, we all know about Cote. It sucks. LOL. Just blocked a lot and managed to keep the lead while carefully maneuvering the corners

so what exactly IS the best car for this in B-Spec? I know it's impossible with the XJ...

As I said just a few posts above yours, it's NOT impossible in B-Spec with the Jag. Just difficult and you need an advantageous starting grid.

B-sec is really starting to anoy me. Deep forest was an easy win, but Cote is frustrating. My lvl 21 bob can only place 9th at best. the biggest problem I have is at the chicane at the rear of the track, every race without fail a car clips the barrier & causes a pile up, & what does bob do??? he runs straight into the back of the pile up & paiently waits till all the other cars are up & going again before continuing his leasurly sunday drive. Anyone else had this problem? I've tried it in many differestates of tune with my Toyota 7 but no luck.

I won a Cobra and upgraded it completely and managed to get 2nd at Deep Forrest (I turned all the driving aids on just to get it finished). The Toyota over took me on the 2nd to last corner.

I also got 2nd at Cote, using my Ferrari 512BB (No driving aids).

I've EASILY completed both of the races using the fully tuned Lambo. Monaco was way too easy because they didn't even try to over take me.
Deep forest was a bit harder because after the first corner, and for two laps the Ferrari was in front. When I passed the Ferrari, I've won by 3 seconds :P
A little tip: The AI is very slow on the last corner, and I could take the corner with little or no braking at all. Drift a bit!

For the All Stars I grinded to 4,750,000 so i could get the Audi R10. I won the Historic Cup with a RM '70 Challenger R/T with every mod.

hi there i have the countach that everyone is speaking of but i cannot fit a wing to it like the opening poster speaks of. When i go into GT Auto and click on Aero Parts - it says this part cannot be fitted and when i click on Racing Modification it says the same thing.

What am I doing wrong?

Like the Wind with ZR1? How easy should it be, since I'm struggling really bad with it :I

This really is the best way Rhys, for both cups, You're race softs are essential, max your downforce and shorten your gear ratios (obv not short gears round Indy in Like the wind). Deep forest is tricky in the countach but by no means impossible and the thread on it is very useful. The minolta is a brute for so many future races too. Good luck mate :)

Hi seppo, If you get the proper 300,000 CR race mod for the ZR1 round Indy if you can use a simple set up (Not the quickest by any means) of something like:

Max downforce,
A final gear ratio of 240-250mph
Traction control 1
ABS 1
AST on
Make sure you've bought the extra rigidity
Race Softs

With this set up you dont need to brake or lift off the throttle at all. I'm not suggesting this is the best set-up but it's a simple one to win with your foot to the floor. Daytona is tougher, i think i won it in my murcialago sv but i was struggling with indy before i discovered this race modded zr1. Hope it helps you.
