[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

Toyota Toyota 7 Race Car '70
It's a Prize Car in B-Spec "Like the Wind"

That's good to hear. I've been wanting one of those (a lot) for that race, and I've been working my way through B spec, so it shouldn't be too much longer. I've got the Ferrari race car and won the Monaco race with it, but it doesn't seem to have enough top-end to finish better than third in Grand Valley. Well, maybe if I was a better driver it could

I might have to try out the Countach as well, I've got a couple of them.

i got the toyota 7 race car when i finished my 100th race or 2000 race-km (doesnt exactly remember).
the first race was quite easy. but the 2nd race in monza was total pain in the ass against the chapparal 2j. this thing is just so fast round that small corners there.. and the toyota 7 has big wheelspin even in the 3rd gear

Lucky guy, all I had was a '92 Honda Civic by achieving 100 races/2000 km

Beautiful event. Too often have the challenges of GT been eliminated by the use of vastly over-qualified cars to win events. Overcoming this challenge has made me love racing all the more.

Hello everyone,
...and here are some cars that a commonly asked about, but that (usually) don't work (or are a waste of time, because just use one above):
  • Buick Special '62
  • Dodge Challenger R/T RM '70
  • Ferrari 512BB '76
Anyway, back to the guide, which will assume you went ahead with the Lambo...[/COLOR]

Got the golds with the RM Challenger R/T, think you can take it out of the don't waste your time list. If i can anyone can.

I just beat this in B-spec mode last night and one thing is bugging me. My level 25 driver absolutely sucks at Cot d'azur. So in a last bitter attempt, i used my level 17 driver using the same car and settings and he was leading after 4 laps. I don't understand. The only real differences between my two drivers are their levels and their mood. my level 25 is ice cold whereas my level 17 is near the red.

+1 to the O.P. for adding other suggested and not suggested cars to the guide.

Jerome

I didn't read the entire 16 pages, but I did this with the Shelby Cobra fully tuned.

What I noticed is that I could catch every car except the Toyota 7 (imo, the Toyota 7 is much faster the 2J)

So I kept refreshing the event until there was only 1 Toyota 7 and it was behind me (was in 8th place when I did it). The 2J was in 3rd place IIRC.

When the race starts, I just got in front of the Toyota 7 and slammed my brakes so it would stop. I waited until it would fall into last place, and then I would start catching the pack. By the 3 or 4th turn, you would catch up to the pack and the by the end of lap 1, you should be in 1st. The 2J shouldn't be in 1st since AI takes forever to pass each other (believe in my race, 2J became 2nd on lap 4). From there on, you only have to worry about the 2J but that car doesn't pressure you nearly as much as the Toyota 7.

At the end of the race, the Toyota 7 was in 7th place and the 2J in 2nd.

P.S. By lap 5 if the Toyota 7 is on rear, you will get passed on the braking after the long straight. If you try to block the inside line, it will pass on the outside. That's how I developed the blocking the 7 from the start workaround.

Hope that helps.

what bhp is the lambo at mine is only 513 and got wooped in 1st corner

also my car keeps slipping any ideas

what tires are you using? racing soft would be the only ones to try this with, if thats not the problem look for a suspension setup in the tune section.

Tried this with my P4 but I seem to be going nowhere, and I consider myself a fairly decent driver. Has anybody actually completed it in this car?

ive noticed that the 'hot head' drivers start to out preform the cooler drivers once they gain some experience/levels. the hot drivers heat up faster, but also more importantly, cool down faster. so if you push him at the beginning of a race, and he goes too high up in the red, choosing pace down once or twice will usually put his bar right back in the middle. and then you can speed him up again as soon as you can choose another command. they are more prone to losing control and are more aggressive, but if you can manage him well, he wont let you down.

I made the very silly mistake of buying the really old 1500 skyline and doing nearly every tuning option to it eventually i won the races but it was rediculously hard especially laguna seca considering i couldnt get the car over 80mph going up the hill at the back of the course. I was soooo frustrated i sold my car and got like 5 p.

What do we mean by a race modified camaro? Just buying all the upgrades?

no, it means getting the car race modded in GT auto, it costs like 210k or so.

idk why ppl are saying they spent 500k on the camaro, i just bought it new and got all the mods it wasn't more then 350k

that said, anyone actually have a good tune for this car? i've been messing with it a little and still can't get it to corner all that great. any suggestions??

Hey guys, I'm new here but I am used to the general forum concept as I have used the official Playstation forums for years.

My problem is I have tried to beat these events countless times, but I never can. I don't understand how you're supposed to be able to compete with the cars you're pitted against.

These are the cars currently in my Garage that are hopefully realistic enough to win these events -
Ferrari 458 Italia '09 - 715BHP
Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce '09 - 641BHP
Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 '08 - 704BHP
ARTA Garaiya '08 - 470BHP
Nissan GT-R SpecV '09 - 611BHP
RUF BTR '86 - 622BHP
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 '09 - 1182BHP
Dodge Challenger R/T '70 - 766BHP

Now all of these have been upgraded to the max, not too good at tuning myself so that could be where they're failing....

Just tell me, is it realistic to beat these events with cars such as the above?
Which cars did you guys use?

Forgive me if I'm in the wrong section,
Rhys

I used the countach, the trick is to not push the car because your going to make mistakes constantly pushing, instead just keep the ai behind you. When they come up behine you, they brake alot just to stop from hitting you, when they do that just floor it and you should gain a lil distance.

I used the lambo as well. But I didn't play fair. I rammed the leading two cars at the 1st corner and spun them. Then spent the rest of the race white knuckle racing and blocking. Lol. I know not fair but not fair either that they have cars that are way better than the ones I have! I will go back later when I get the Toyota and try it again racing cleanly. The AI cars way outmatch anything I have won or bought even after spinning them at the first turn and getting a decent lead thy were on my butt within a few seconds.

I completed the event with the jaguar JX13. You get it for free in the 200 lap oval track (Forgot the name, but it's not the daytona one, it's the other.) endurance race. I completed it in a little over an hour and a half.

Finished Deep Forest with the RM Challenger. Installed all available mods including engine stage 3, oil change, even washed it. Started a race where the Toyota 7 was behind me and a Chapparal 2J not far in front of me. Managed to pass up to 2nd before the first tunnel and took first coming out of the last turn onto the straight. Led for 4 laps then heard the Chapparal fans creeping up on me, heart pounding, I kept my lines, braked into the turns and prayed the Hemi could hold them off. Finished first by .5 seconds. Thanks to the tuning guides and all the suggestions! Working on Cote now.

For the All stars, you could skip that, and wait until you get the Like the Wind event. Then you get the ZR1 from the dealership, race modify it, then put the upgrades, oil change, and from that event, you win the Minolta. Then you can win the All stars event very easily.

For Historic racing cup, there's a guide on the forums where you use a fully kitted out Countach, with a rear spoiler, and racing softs.

there is no way you are likely to win any of those events with those cars, for historic cup, you should be looking for chapparel 2J Car or maybe the mark IV, and for the all stars, beat "Like the Wind" and you get a minolta which will easily win that :)
