[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

hi there i have the countach that everyone is speaking of but i cannot fit a wing to it like the opening poster speaks of. When i go into GT Auto and click on Aero Parts - it says this part cannot be fitted and when i click on Racing Modification it says the same thing.

What am I doing wrong?

When you go into aero parts all the way on the right should be the wing option. You should have 3 different styles of wings to choose from if memory serves me correctly.

B-sec is really starting to anoy me. Deep forest was an easy win, but Cote is frustrating. My lvl 21 bob can only place 9th at best. the biggest problem I have is at the chicane at the rear of the track, every race without fail a car clips the barrier & causes a pile up, & what does bob do??? he runs straight into the back of the pile up & paiently waits till all the other cars are up & going again before continuing his leasurly sunday drive. Anyone else had this problem? I've tried it in many differestates of tune with my Toyota 7 but no luck.
Exactly the same problem here...The best I can do is 5th.
EDIT: damn, I just finished 2nd! +00.133

After dumping a couple million into different cars trying to build something that'll compete, I stumbled across the '63 C2 in the UCD for just over $700,000. Slapped soft slicks and the mid range turbo on it, and won both.

Took a few tries on Monaco, that darn Toyota kept jumping out front. One restart I was able to get along side him in turn 1, and forced him into the outside wall. Spent the rest of the race blocking the red Mark IV but I finally got it. With the ticket I got a Stratos.... which is also one of the cars I bought and fully modded to try and beat that race with :banghead:

Second, you need to get in front AS QUICK AS YOU CAN, once the race progresses a bit, you wont stand a chance.
  • On Cote d'Azur, you can get to at least 3rd on the first corner. If you're not 1st by the really tight hairpin. Restart.
  • On Deep Forest, you can get to about 4th by out braking and running on the inside of the first bend. By the time you reach the first tunnel, you should be 2nd. By the time you reach the back straight, you should be 1st. If not, restart.

Once you're first, the rest is pretty straight forward. Drive like a madman and don't mess up. There is ZERO margin for error and the Lambo's shorter gear ratios (for the turns) means you need to block on the straights.

[*]Once you've gone past the 1 lap mark, if anyone gets past you, you might as well restart.
Good guide, but I think you are selling the Countach a little short. The Countach has the pace to beat any car in these races except for the 2J (and maybe the Toyota 7 on Deep Forest, he started near the back and sliced his way through the field in my race but came up well short of me). You can drive normally and pass all the AI as long as you keep the 2J behind you. If you make a mistake and get passed by the Ford Mark IV, Jag, 2D, GT40 or Ferrari, you can still pass them back. Just have to drive well.

If the 2J starts on pole in Monaco, you might as well give up, but most races are manageable.

Just beat this with the P4 cause im that good, way disadvantaged against the others but came out on top after a frustrating amount of retries.

I use dodge challenger 70' RM. need to block other car after manage to lead in deep forest. and use short cut in monza to win. unethical but its just a race with AI anyway.

i also finished this event with the countach, was very hard for me and my DS3 controller, i had just a chance when i took over the lead car in the first or second turn, it was a great event!

Jeff, I dont even get past the aero parts icon. It stops me on the page where the intial icons are: car wash, oil change, wheels...etc. there is a button called aero parts, i click it, it says i cant put aero parts on this car. is there a mod i have done to the countach that then means u cannot put an aero part on it? like restore rigidity? coz i did that

Do you have the Countach LP400, you might have the other way. (Sorry, I need to check).

Hi seppo, If you get the proper 300,000 CR race mod for the ZR1 round Indy if you can use a simple set up (Not the quickest by any means) of something like:

Max downforce,
A final gear ratio of 240-250mph
Traction control 1
ABS 1
AST on
Make sure you've bought the extra rigidity
Race Softs

With this set up you dont need to brake or lift off the throttle at all. I'm not suggesting this is the best set-up but it's a simple one to win with your foot to the floor. Daytona is tougher, i think i won it in my murcialago sv but i was struggling with indy before i discovered this race modded zr1. Hope it helps you.

What a huge difference with the right downforce settings! Thanks for the tip 👍

hey guys, i actually won that race fairly easy with a 1970 race modified Dodge Challenger! fully tuned of course. which i bought from the factory.

I tried the Cobra 427 with upgrades and tuned up ,and it sucked. I tried to sell it, but it wont let me. You've gotta have the right $$$$$ to get the right car.

I RM'd the 1969 Camero and threw on every upgrade I could. Tuned it and set it loose. Won without too much trouble. Here's an older thread on it:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=146801

The hard part is winning the event on B-Spec. I have Deep Forest won but God help me if I can get any higher than 7th place on Monaco. Keep in mind: I'm racing with a Toyota 7 that's sporting a Stage 3 Turbo.

Good Luck! 👍

EDIT: The Camero and all the upgrades were just under 400k. Step 1: Buy Car, 2. Oil Change, 3. Race Modification, 4. Every HP upgade you can find. 5. Tune it -- If you want my tune, I might be able to post it if I have a minute with my PS3 before company arrives (I'm at work at the moment).

If you still need a car tomorrow, i will loan you the Ferrari P60. I am away for the holiday and i wont be home until maybe tomorrow evening depending on the weather.

You could do B-spec until you finnish the lvl 21 event Like the Wind in which you win a Toyota Race Car -70 that you can use in the historic race event.

I'm actually having the same problems, Tried a RM 69' Chevvy & couldnt keep up with the Jag/Ferrari/Ford Le Mans cars :(
Might try a Cobra but thats suicide.. Maybe the 512BB Tuned?
I would like to see what someone who managed it used

i did it with the cobra... fully tuned to more than 700hp... it was tough! but somehow i managed it.. won deepforest by about 1.xxx secs and monaco(cote de azure) by about 4 secs... not to be braging but im quite proud of it actually... XD
i was told it is quite easy using a countach or alternatively getting the toyota 7 race car in b-spec like the wind...
only knew about that after i won it... XD

You win a Toyota 7 in one of the Extreme series

Just use that, big turbos, full build. Tune the transmission for accel (around 170 something maybe) Racing Medium

My lvl 21 bob was in 2nd by about halfway through but couldn't catch the 2J

I keep coming back to it every now and then so hopefully as he gets better I can pull off the gold soon :)

Thanks man but i finished the race. it was grueling but i got it done.

Seriously, with good driving it is possible with a Lamborghini Countach you get as a prize.

Tuned of course, and if you make sure that neither the 7 or the 2J are in front of you on the grid (especially for the first race) it's winnable.

The Toyota 7 is faster with a stage 2 turbo on Monaco. I found a tuning for it somewhere on this forum that helped me win the race in B-spec.

I raced with fully modified Lamborghini Countach that I won from Gallardo series. It was :ouch: but I eventually got it. Cote d'azur was tough one.

I was considering this... Thanks, I'll give it a shot! 👍

Any tunes for the Shelby? I have it with all the goods, and the power is adequate. But it's so tail-happy that I have to admit my inability to handle it. Any ways to tame it?
