[GUIDE] Historic Racing Car Cup

i feel like begging but im at a stand still at level 21 on like the wind and historic cup,if any nice person could help with a car to use fora day in this time of giving lol any help much appreciated, only got 900,000 credits too

Grrr just lost post...

Was saying thank you as just about to start the event and know how difficult it is meant to be.

Will let you know how I get on .... think I'm going to use the Lambo I just won.

Will only have All Stars left in this Category then.

Wish me luck :sly:

I haven't had as much time to play GT5 lately, so I've done a fair amount of B-Spec. Got to a high enough level to compete in Like the Wind, extreme....and Bob won easily with my Stealth 787b (damn I love that car). Won the Toyota 7. Upgraded it to the max, and even he was able to win the B-Spec historic race car cup...but the second race, with all its intricate corners and limited straights was a pretty big challenge. If he was to hot there was one corner he would crash into every time, or someone else would crash there, and Bob would go into him.

It was surprisingly fun to watch. I love the old race cars...wish I could buy them all.

I've completed B-Spec expert, and haven't even started A-Spec expert...but I assume if Bob can win, so can I...

Finally had my Bob complete both with a MarkIV. CoteD Azut was annoying but finally doable. ANd he was only level 14

Just beat this with the P4 cause im that good, way disadvantaged against the others but came out on top after a frustrating amount of retries.

I just finally beat this with the P4 after trying every other car without luck. I found the trick is to be in the lead by the first turn and don't let anyone pass! That dang fan box passed me on the last corner but I took it back just in time to make the finish.

Yep you were right, sorted the problem now. Thanks so much for you help. Legend mate!

Glad you figured it out. Just as a heads up finally beat these two events. The first is the much harder of the two. You really need to bump off on the first turn in order to get second or third, and run a perfect race. The second race I managed to get first on the turn number one (bump action as well). Never looked back.

Another guy who just beat these races (finally) with the RM Camaro. As mentioned, the first race (deep forrest) is much harder than the second. In the second, get to the front by the first couple of turns and run a clean race and they will not pass you, careful taking the last major turn too wide or they will take you on the inside. As far as Deep Forrest, you need to get lucky as to where they line up the other cars, if a 2j or toyota 7 is up in front you have no shot. When I won it, I intentionally rammed the 2j on the very first turn and the Toyota 7 was in the back of the pack from the start. I was able to work my way through the other cars into first and win easily.

Won Deap Forest with the 2D. Starts of slow, but handles like a dream. I was able to pass the field by the 3rd or 4th lap. Monaco is another story. Tried the P4 as it has pretty quick acceleration, the 2J just dissapeared. I was in 3rd and the 2J had a 20+ second lead after one lap!

i was able to win both races in A & B spec using the chaparral 2D only
i tuned it with stage 2 Turbo and reduced the top speed to 250Kph (and also the required Tyre type)you will have the lead by 15 Sec.

Okay, so I used a DODGE CHALLENGER R/T '70
I got it from the dealership for around 75,000 I think and then i went to GT AUTO and clicked on race modification. This cost around 150,000(not too sure). Then I added every upgrade left that I thought i would need ( all engine etc upgrades inluding soft race tires).
I then tried the events and came 2nd.
I changed the SUSPENSION settings by changing the SPRING RATE to 8.5 on FRONT and REAR.
I changed the RIDE HEIGHT to -25 on FRONT and REAR and tried the races again.
I FINALLY WON (lol) first time on both tracks. I also changed the gear ratio so that the top speed was around 170.
Hope this helps, it really did work for me although by the end of the race my heart was beating like nothing before lol. THANKS!
( remember to block the cars when they are behind otherwise there is no catching the toyota when its 1st!)

I managed to do it with fully tuned Shelby Cobra (over 700 BHP, 918 kilos, standard setup). You have to simply overtake everyone on the first corner and then drive carefully for the win.

I had finished these two races with my fully tunes 512 bb. The transmission set on 260 and the suspension 2x -10. Monaco was easy. For the other one you need to try it a few times. The first race there were to many fast cars. After i exited the race. i restarted and there where slower opponents and I won!

I'm going to try it with the '63 Race Vette.. if not them I'll just wait and use the XJ13 I'll win from the Indy 500...

Any tuning guide for the Mark IV Race Car? I got to 2nd but ended up in 4th.
WU WU!! lol, hence my name.....
anyways, i only lowered the back -3 and -2 in the fron and for coted azut the gear ratios. I forgot what the max was i put it on, but thats the key. And dont overtake or pace up near the end or you will hit walls and get stuck. I do it on the way down those turns before the tunnel.

I have won both A-Spec & B-Spec with the Jaguar XJ13 Race Car, but part of the key to wining this event for me was to make sure the Chaparral 2J Race Car started further back in the lineup, with the Chaparral 2J further back gave me a fighting chance to get up front. In the B-Spec race the Chaparral 2J would wreck at the chicane each time and catch me ruining the race, getting ahead avoided that.

Finally got to bob-spec lvl 21 and completed the Like the Wind easily in the FGT. Got the Toyota 7 and easily beat the first historic race... then nearly chucked my PS3 out the window on the 2nd race. Bob is completely useless. He will actually slow down and let others pass, even while he's fully aggressive, just so he can maintain the driving line. I had to restart at least a dozen times, because brainless-bob would either seemingly stop for a spot of tea to let others pass, or ram head-first into one of the corners. Only on the umpteenth time, did he manage to make it around the whole first lap, with the 2J behind him. After that, he had no problem catching and passing the others by the 3rd lap. Then it was just a matter of holding his hand to the end, where he won by some 10 seconds.

I have to admit, the Historic Racing Cup is about the worst "race" ever designed. It's not a "fun challenge", but a "frustrating experience". I'm glad that's done and over with.

Exactly what happened with me to a T. Azur was easy on the first try, not so for the other course though.

I wish I had something positive to add to this but these races are sheer hell! I have my Countach fully tuned and have tried and tried but the Toyota just keeps smokin me. However I do think that your controller has a lot to do with it. I have a wheel and pedals but the wheel is worn and becoming quite troublesome with certain cars/races.

Will have to GrInD away a bit to get to lvl 21 to get the Toyota me thinks :yuck:

Having exactly the same , except I havent got to that umpteenth race yet. But it's good to know its possible.

...and here are some cars that a commonly asked about, but that (usually) don't work (or are a waste of time, because just use one above):

  • Dodge Challenger R/T RM '70

......

Not true. The challenger is awesome and I just used it for the deep forest raceway and will now attempt the second race. I did the racing modifications, increased gear ratios and turned off all driving aids except for ABS which was set to 1.

erm yeah i won it with a Dodge Challenger R/T RM '70 too with some tuning at the transmission (with full upgrade of course). Just increase it slightly. Overtake everyone in the first corner, drive safely and you will take the lead with ease.

The best car is the Dodge Challenger R/T RM '70, done at first try
Fully tuned, and the only change i've made was increase the top speed of the car, so that other guys wouldn't overtake me in long straights

I've done the first race in this tournament with an XJ13. I fitted Soft Race tyres & changed the oil but didn't add anything else or change any settings other than to turn TC off. Against the first possible lineup in my PAL game the 2J is 5th on the grid. The Toyota 7 starts behind you. I won by over a second and never touched another car in the entire race. It's the first race in GT5 that I've truly enjoyed.

Update. After a game restart to get the same lineup I did the Monaco race. A 2D starts from pole. I got the lead at the third corner and then had a 330 P4 and a Ford IV to contend with. They where only a threat if I made a mistake, not if I kept it clean. Easy win. Regretfully I did make contact with an AI car at the start, otherwise a clean run. Not as much fun as the first race.

completed the event 2 days ago. (lambo lp400)

What really makes a difference is the wing, as mention in POST 1. Without the wing the lambo is flying over every hill.

That image shows how to start in cote azur.
top picture worked for me 👍 (now that is art)

After wasting a ton of money and time, I came to this forum for tips. Let me first say what not to do;
Do not try using the 62 special, does not cut it on the turns.
Do not blow 725,000 on the 1970 ford mustang trans-cammer from the grand touring garage. It doesn't even let you race it for some reason! Plus I think it's too slow anyway.
I also suped up the cobra which actually won me the monaco race. All you need to do is get into first by the first or second turn and you're good. But I couldn't do anything at the deep forest track with it!
So after following Morsolo's tips, I won on the second try with the countach! (first try, driving error) Even though I had to block the toyota 7 for the last 2 full laps!!
In a twist of fate I got the free17 level car for beating expert series and it gave me the GT40! Just for kicks I tried it in the race and it looks like it's not beating anything stock...I think someone asked about it here. Probably needs to be tweaked but I'm not messing with it now.

I love the challenge of this event. The first race was easy in the Toyota 7 and so far my best is 4th on the second. Obviously I am terrible but I am learning a lot from this one.
