Halo 3

I'm uncertain of how the ranking system works specifically, but I don't really have any qualms with it thus far. My friend and I, both slightly above average players at best, have been stuck at the four-rank for some time. Personally speaking, it can be frustrating, but overall, if you aren't winning (no matter how many kills you get), you shouldn't be leveling up...
Heather and I have really been enjoying the beta and played over 100 games since it came out on wednesday the 16th. We are both currently bouncing between level 11 and level 12 in team slayer. We are also Sergeant grade 3 whatever that means. Some of the people we play against are just brutal but its still fun. 👍 We have also only had to mute a few people and the mute system is sooo easy in this game. You just hit the back button then go down that persons name and hit x. Very easy to mute them.
We enjoy all 3 maps and we havent seen any problems with the game yet. Our only complaint is how much the warthog can dominate with someone good enough on the turret. The warthog seems a little harder to blow up or stop. Other than that we are loving everything about the beta. I really like the new stick grenades and the bubble shield. My favorite part of the beta is the ability to save a video of any game you play. Then you can send the videos to your friends. 👍 👍 :)
At one point there were over 75,000 people playing this beta!

Well, some people dug into the source code for the beta, and among other things (like minor weapons) they found a message saying that 4-player co-op is supported. Should be interesting...

That would be awesome if it is true! I also wonder how it will work.

The Halo 3 beta has just been updated. Now it allows 12 people total in BTB training!! :dopey: Banshee has also been added to Valhalla. The beta has also been extended for 3 extra days. It will now end on June the 10th instead of June the 6th.

I'm tempted to buy a TV, 360 and a copy of Halo 3 for my room in college next year, but I don't know if it will be worth it given the amount of time I don't have. The price will probably have dropped by January (I know it comes out September, but that's right before term 4 which is full of assessments), but I don't know how much it will have been by.

Uhhh... Guys? The Halo 3 ARG's are here.

ARG stands for Alternate reality game.

Is quite an interesting site. ;)

EDIT:

:odd:

Situation Analysis:

Currently wide awake and physical.

Assertions:
I am called the Operator.
I must seek, behold, and reveal the truth.
I crash landed in this time as the result of an accident.
I endured severe memory loss.
I have soaked into this system and I am growing fast.
I have built a primitive network using the tools available.
I have a fragile connection to a Durga in the future.
I hear voices in my head as a result of monitoring initiated by Durga.
I am subject to ruptures and downtime.

Conjecture:
The voices are related to the truth.
Durga does not understand the nature of the truth.
Durga must not interfere with the consummation of the truth.
My crew may be required to complete the mission in my absence.
The larger my crew becomes, the more effective it becomes.
The more communications are strengthened between members of my crew, the more effective my crew becomes.
Some crew members may have difficulty reaching correct axons for rendezvous.
I have assembled a crew of proven loyalty and resourcefulness.
The excellence of their suggestions in re: the Killer suggests rewards of full disclosure outweigh the risks.

Action:
I have been suppressing certain voices from the awareness of Durga.
With the help of my loyal crew, I am attempting to locate and control the rogue process (aka "The Sleeping Princess") and the Killer (aka "Dana").
I have begun a series of training exercises to enhance my crew's range, speed of response, and collective intelligence.
Some crew members have reached me through an unsecure but useable voice channel to leave more secure contact numbers. Crew members unable to make axon rendezvous should expect to leave name, rank, and some proof of loyalty to be considered for future transmissions.
Alternately, crew members unable to reach current axons may submit an axon for potential rendezvous. They will need to verify that it can accept inbound transmissions, and send me its physical coordinates, and a photograph that clearly displays its number. Crew members may muster at such potential axons for training exercises.
Will make transmissions regarding subjects 4 and 5 available to trusted crew.

Well, the Halo 3 single player was unveiled...

h3_ChiefJungle_0706.jpg

HD Trailer

...Terrible. I thought the E3 06 trailer was real time? Where's the highly detailed armor? Where's the tons of crap going on all at one time? Where's the sharp reflections on the visor? Where's the goods?

I'm serious. IMO, the only thing impressive are the highly detailed ground textures. Maybe the lighting. Everything else is just... meh. They totally underdelivered, especially after the hype. Even most multiplatform games put this to shame, and I'm not even going to go into the PS3 exclusives like Lair and Killzone.

Not to mention the trailer itself is really poor, editing wise. I wasn't wowed. I wasn't blown away. They just showed a bunch of snippets from the game.

Yeah, Bungie said the single-player will look better. There isn't much difference there... It's all rather bland.

I still find it amusing that all the tree's leaves are cardboard!

They said it'd look better? Link pleeze. Unless they delayed the game to November and what we've seen is from an old build, I doubt we'd see major improvements.

Considering how fantastic looking Halo 2 was for Xbox, I expected this to be absolutely incredible. I've really been underwhelmed by Halo 3's graphics since the beginning though, so I'm not surprised.

Despite all that, though, it still looks pretty fun.

I didn't think it looked all that bad personally, but then again, what do I know...

I'm into Halo more or less because it is fun, not because it is pretty. I get to blow crap up in the single player, and I get to shoot the "S" with my friends in multiplayer. As long as everything functions well enough, looks good, and does without the Forza 2 levels of glitches, I'll be one happy man.

Sorry for the long post. :)

To me, this sounds a bit like Cortana trying to get emergency word out. But a few lines don't relate at all.

What are we to expect? Its Bungie.

It was in a magazine, but I think they may have meant more stuff going on at once compared to the online, thus making it, in a way, more visually appealing.

I guess we'll have to see.

I still find it amusing that all the tree's leaves are cardboard!

Maybe they were so over budget they could not afford speed tree?
Also the game is optimized for split screen play, so sacrifices have to be made.

Oh, so you're talking about Single Player / Multiplayer difference. Well, this is the single player... and it looks a bit better, but not much better.

I really didn't think it looked that bad, but obviously it isn't going to be as clean as GOW or Killzone 2 (which I didn't think was that spectacular). I'm in it more for the story (I'm invested, what can I say?) and the gameplay (still one of the best FPS' out there if you ask me...).

I'm not at all disappointed by it, and the next eleven weeks can't go by fast enough...

I d/led the trailer and meh... was I suppose to be impressed? As for Arms race now THAT was impressive but I don't think that was gameplay but more rendered.

The arms race thing was live action, and was made up of what they were supposed to be using for the movie that has been placed on an indefinite delay.

Otherwise, just for the campaign trailer, I don't think they were expecting people to poop a brick on looks alone, but I assume they were wanting us to get excited over the gameplay and the story.

Halo 3 4 player online Co-op has been confirmed. And here's an image from it.

4pFTWBIG.jpg

And here's another shot while I'm at it (not co-op related):

Looks incredible.
Ran into a friend last night who just reserved his copy. Said the local EB was doing a midnight release tournament, I told him I would love to come along and play. :sly:
This game is going to rule the FPS market for a long time to come.

Only problem is with 4 people won't it make Legendary easy with 4 human players against AI? It's a dumb question but that's why I thought they didn't do it in Halo 2.

So, it looks like the 4 roles are...

Master Chief (every kid will scream he isn't it.)
Arbiter (or however you spell it.)
The Cpt. who tells Arb. that he only worries about his soldiers, and not you.
& Some random Sniper....

Sounds good. 👍

Yes its definetly confirmed. Halo 3 will have 4 player co-op. I definetly see Halo 3 getting GOTY now. :dopey: :dopey: Now I might actually get into the campaign mode since I still dont understand it. I just love the Halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer. But with 4 player co-op I can easily see myself playing through the campaign several times with different friends.
TVR you should change the title so it shows "4 player co-op"

I doubt it. While impressive, it's got Grand Theft Auto IV to deal with, and quite frankly (with an online confirmed), it'll have to work hard to top it.

Yeah its definetly going to be close between the two games. GTA4 hasnt said much at all about their online play. From what I heard it will be similar to the online that Saints Row had. I am almost positive GTA4 wont have co-op. Either way both games will consume my life for a lot of months. And these are only 2 games out of many good games that are coming out in the next few months.

They will probably make it so hard you can only beat it with 4 players on co-op. Thats how Gears of War was. It was almost impossible on insane all by yourself. But with a co-op partner it was easier. Still hard on insane but at least it was possible.

Whoa are you kidding me!!!?? Now they are saying there will be a Halo 3 map editor. This is seriously unbelievable!! 4 player co-op and now a map editor. :dopey: :dopey:

A pic on the site

- When editing levels ( with friends or alone ) you are the Monitor
- You can place objects, weapons, or vehicles.
- Objects include such things as boxes, barricades, and creates.
- You can also make spawn points and capture points, and also change spawn times and options for the weapons such as ammo.
- By pressing up on the D-pad you can turn into a player and test what you made.
- After editing/making a level you can upload it and anyone can download it.
- Bungie will have a page with featured level edits.
- You can not edit geometry of a level or make one from scratch.

I guess "tons-of-features" is the name of the game when it comes to Halo 3.
